The Aesthetics Scientist conducts research, development and applications in camera software technologies for Apple Camera & Photos. This role has a specific focus on developing software for camera aesthetics - through algorithm design, data collection and preference studies that directly impact new features.

Key Qualifications

  • 9+ years relevant experience required, including 3+ experience in a leadership role for a commercial visual curation company.

  • A subject-matter expert in contemporary photography and photographic aesthetics with a demonstrated portfolio and proven track record to curate imagery for mainstream and large-scale commercial, editorial, and/or technological products.

  • Proven track record in data collection, annotation and content curation for large-scale algorithmic recommendation systems.

  • Proven track record in data analysis and working with statistical tools to follow industry trends.

  • Demonstrated experience with managing software development production processes and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.

  • Flexibility to travel when needed.

Description

Responsibilities - Algorithm Development - Serve as a leader to drive feature development in the preference space when relevant to new camera software products. - Build and maintain infrastructure and tooling requirements for algorithm development across the Camera software team. - Research & Preference Studies - large scale preference studies data collection and analysis program. - Scale long-term research initiatives data collection and analysis - Develop and lead research initiatives that quantify priority aspects of the photographic preference space, and the scale of photography's cultural impact on broad and niche communities around the world. - Manage contingent workers that support data collection initiatives

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
