The MEP Practice within JMT has been steadily growing for over 2-decades within the mid-Atlantic region. The Electrical Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including scope, schedule, and budget. This position is the lead technical advisor on specialized systems or processes for JMT. Responsibilities also include engineering design and technical staff development using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers. Supports MEP growth through strong technical focus on quality deliverables. Coordinates work for various state and federal agencies.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

  • Supervise production of design computations

  • Supervise and/or prepare and compile contract plans, specifications, and estimates

  • Attend meetings with clients

  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required Skills

  • Desire to participate and grow in a role that involves both design and technical management activities

  • Willingness to embrace a broad range of project types and learn new requirements for a variety of electrical systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Written and communication skills

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program or equivalent professional experience

  • Professional Engineer License

  • 15+ years' experience in specialized discipline

  • Proficient in discipline specific design software

Preferred Experience

  • 20+ years' experience working with federal, state, and/or county agencies.

  • Experience managing multidiscipline project teams.

  • Project Management and business development experience.

  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3

  • Familiarity with aviation and federal work is a plus.

Working Conditions

The majority of work is performed within a general office environment with opportunities for hybrid/remote work. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasions where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
