Our goal at Amazon is to deliver the best possible customer experience. We want to get customers their orders as quickly, accurately, and cheaply as possible, no matter the size. To achieve this, we are constantly innovating new last-mile delivery products and services.

The Vehicle Programs and Engineering team works on Amazon's last-mile vehicle initiatives. We partner with vehicle manufacturers to develop future mobility solutions for our Delivery Service Partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing vehicles. You should understand vehicle attributes like performance and safety. You will have experience managing medium to large projects across multiple teams. Your background should include vehicle architecture, safety testing, technology research, product testing, vehicle design, and concept development.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop Amazon's vehicle design standards and specifications to define our ideal last-mile delivery vehicle. Conduct research into vehicle safety, durability, driver controls, usability, mobility technologies, vehicle dynamics, and active/passive safety for current and future vehicles.

  • Use 3D modeling, prototypes, and digital tools to evaluate new vehicle designs, solutions, and product integration. Analyze overall vehicle durability and total cost of ownership for different design attributes.

  • Create and conduct research to optimize total cost of ownership for vehicle attributes and durability. Use vehicle and driver data and engineering reviews to set mass, safety, functionality, and technology roadmaps.

  • Advise on powertrain requirements, certification testing, and vehicle design standards. Support introducing new vehicles and last-mile technologies with a structured, milestone-based process to ensure manufacturer designs meet Amazon standards.

  • Track program milestones against the vehicle development roadmap. Assist research activities and vehicle testing at testing facilities, R&D centers, and delivery operations.

  • The successful candidate will communicate well, be curious, highly motivated, and work effectively with distributed teams. Expect up to 30% travel.
