SALES ENGINEERING MANAGER (SWARM)

SpaceX acquired IoT satellite developer Swarm in 2021 and the team is continuing to grow in order to fulfill our ambitious goal of improving the world through low-cost global connectivity. We are looking to hire a leader for the Swarm product's growing sales engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and be ready to lead a small, fast-moving team. This person will manage and grow a team of technical salespeople focused on scaling customer adoption to enterprises around the world. These applications will range from supply chain tracking and oceanic monitoring to wildfire prevention and illegal logging detection.

As a sales engineering manager, you will work with leadership to achieve sales goals while collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, production, and regulatory teams. This role demands a strong analytical skill set to drive customer adoption and forecast accurate deployment timelines. Success will require systems thinking, creativity, and excellent communication skills to synthesize information that shapes future products and strategic direction. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, manage, and grow a global technical sales pre/post team to achieve revenue goals

  • Lead all pipeline and forecasting efforts that inform company strategy and planning

  • Take ownership over a portfolio of business development relationships with key enterprises

  • Disseminate customer feedback and work with the engineering team to shape product direction

  • Synthesize complex information and make actionable recommendations to the leadership team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, math, computer science, or information technology) OR 5+ years of experience in a sales engineering or engineering role

  • 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering degree in a technical field

  • Previous experience in an engineering role

  • Experience carrying a revenue quota as an individual contributor

  • Experience with hardware, communications, or networking technologies

  • Experience at an early-stage technology startup that went to scale

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed

  • Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX offices, vendors, and customers as necessary (up to 20% travel)
