Position summary: Responsible for project planning and design for a wide variety of projects including public open spaces, parks and recreation areas, playgrounds, and K-12 education sites. The work will also include responsibility for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with little or no supervision. May acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Conduct research and perform site reviews analysis
Participate in design efforts including landscape and planting design, urban design and public spaces, and pedestrian/bicycle facilities
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
Conduct research and perform site reviews analysis
Prepare concept drawings and sketches
Perform design computations
Construction inspection
Manage project consultants and in-house support disciplines
Attend meetings with clients
Review and provide comments for project schedules, cost estimates, and construction documents
Prepare contract task request for proposals and extra work order requests
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality benchmarks

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
5-10 years' experience in specialized discipline
Preferred Experience
Engineer-in-training certification (EIT), professional engineer (PE) license preferred
Experience working with Philadelphia and Pennsylvania civil and stormwater management regulations
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
