QUALITY SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. SpaceX demands a new type of supply chain to support Starlink Product. We require our suppliers to provide premium quality with rapidly evolving designs at increasingly ambitious volumes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing supply chain non-conformance management processes including: MRB, return to vendor (RTV), and supplier corrective and preventive action (CAPA)

  • Analyze supplier quality data to identify which requirements or quality clauses could be improved, edited, or removed

  • Establish improvements of the underlying systems used in the documentation and disposition of nonconforming material

  • Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce and ultimately eliminate impacts from vendor defects

  • Assist the team in developing company-wide quality policies, standards, processes, and documentation as necessary to ensure continued success

  • Support quality management system policies and procedures, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives

  • Review discrepant outsourced product and support material review process.

  • Drive supplier corrective and preventive action process to eliminate recurring non-conformances and assure high quality parts are delivered that meet all requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering, supply chain or quality field

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain

  • Good written, oral, and presentation skills

  • Experience reading engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)

  • Experience with AS9100 or similar quality management system standard

  • Previous experience working with suppliers, corrective/ preventive action systems, supplier portals

  • Preferred skills or experience include: MS Excel, SQL, process flow mapping, warehouse management systems, lean production environments, six sigma training

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
