Title: DISTRICT OPERATIONS MGR SMALL STORES ($12.0 - $21.9 MIL) HAWAII Location: United States-Hawaii-Pearl Harbor Job Number: 220001V0 Job Summary: Manages, plans, directs, and coordinates a number of Mini Marts, Branch Stores, satellite locations or small Main Exchanges. Duties and Responsibilities: - Develops and manages operating budgets and financial performance. Makes periodic and frequent inspections of all assigned stores. Identifies and executes action to correct deficiencies, exploits areas of opportunity, and maximize operational performance. Follows up to ensure that prompt and proper corrective action has been taken. - Plans and executes retail and/or services programs through subordinate supervisors or managers, directs all activities of assigned retail store operations, ensuring compliance with all operating procedures. - Responsible for the operation of the Fresh Food and Food, Beverage & Convenience Bar programs within the assigned stores. Ensures programs are executed to program standard; to include meeting sales, profitability & waste targets, stocking, product rotation, ordering, etc. - Responsible for the achievement of established sales and profit goals. Initiates corrective action as necessary. Implements NEXCOM policies and procedures, coordinates operations with direct supervisors. Ensures that adequate staffing levels are maintained consistent with store expenses and customer service requirements. - Coordinates Exchange Quality of Life issues with the Installation Commanding Officer (ICO) or Officer in Charge (OIC) of assigned stores. Keeps the ICO or OIC informed of NEX performance, major initiatives and challenges. As appropriate, solicits ICO/OIC input on NEX business and service issues and ensures necessary support. - Reviews demographics of each location and provides input to Headquarters on merchandise assortments based on rate of sale. Implements enterprise SOPs for signing, shelf label management, planograms, phantom inventory, 5S backroom, and any other NEXCOM directed programs. - Ensures that all directives, policies and regulations relative to the management of inventory, cost control and loss prevention initiatives are adhered to. Actively works to create an environment intolerant to internal and external theft, paperwork error and inventory shrinkage. - Approves leave and vacations and associate schedules. Enforces enterprise work rules. Ensures that a continuing program of training is carried out. Interviews and participates in the selection of lead associates / managers and completes performance appraisals for store supervisors or managers. Reviews proposed disciplinary actions and resolves grievances and complaints. - Ensures all stores maintain a robust Premier Customer Service Program. Is responsible for CSI, WOMI, NPS, on line customer comment and other NEX customer service performance measures. - Ensures maximum and full utilization of all facilities & equipment. Ensures that a maintenance and repair program is in effect for all equipment and facilities to keep all assigned retail stores in excellent condition. Ensures, through subordinate supervisors, compliance with safety, security and fire prevention policies for all facilities. - Responsible for planning, coordinating and execution of small store refreshes, resets and minor / major projects. Ensures the development of required projects and timely submittal as part of NEXCOM's minor or major capital plans. - Carries out EEO policies and communicates support to subordinates - Performs other related duties as assigned. Reports to the District Vice Presisent who provides broad general direction. Recommendations, comments and resolutions are reviewed for adherence to established policies and for assurance that objectives are met. Work performance is reviewed and evaluated on the basis of overall results in meeting planned objectives and the improvement in operating district results. Qualifications: Requires a total of 8 years of required experience as indicated below: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in administrative, merchandising, technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a general knowledge of merchandising and operational practices; skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressively responsible experience which included 2 years Store Manager, General Manager, Branch Exchange Manager, District Operations Specialist or General Manager In Training experience which provided in-depth knowledge of retail and/or services merchandising and operations management, policies and procedures; including analysis of operating budgets and results, inventory management practices and procedures; development and evaluation of sales objectives and expense control programs.
