The primary purpose of this position is to plan and implement work for a variety of financial services including: examination, audit, and verification of PCS and travel related documents; reviewing and auditing payroll changes in the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS); reviewing and recording commitment and obligation data; and maintaining fund control records in the Defense Agencies Initiative. Position responsibilities include: Provides financial assistance pertaining to payroll to serviced customers and new employees. Ensures current leave regulations, policies, and reporting procedures are being followed in operating elements. Receives, analyzes and assigns to divisions as appropriate, trouble calls received pertaining to, but not limited to, financial personnel and systems. Provides technical advice and guidance to time keepers and employees relating to correct posting procedures and application of leave regulations. To qualify for this position your resume and supporting documents must show that you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-06 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Examples of qualifying specialized experience: Knowledge of automated accounting and budget systems to reconcile errors that require an understanding of nonstandard procedures or to provide assistance in the development of automated procedures for clerical operations. Reviews and audits reports, listings and payroll changes for errors. Determines that all transactions are properly processed and expenditures do not exceed pre-established control totals.
