General Summary:
Regularly manages and directs the work of and oversees the performance and provides feedback to team of Auction Services Associates.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Customarily and regularly manage and direct the work of a team of Associates
Conduct interviews and participate in the selection process of Associates
Make hiring and firing suggestions, recommendations and decisions.
Make suggestions, recommendations and decisions regarding the advancement, performance management, promotion or other change of Associate status.
Train Associates
Conduct performance reviews by assessing Associate productivity.
Schedule and apportion the work of Associates.
Effectively address Associate concerns, complaints and grievances.
Provide for the safety and security of Associates and the store property.
Use analysis and decision-making by comparing and evaluating possible courses of conduct to make effective decisions after the various possibilities have been considered.
Provides outstanding customer service for both internal and external customers.
Achieves and maintains an Inventory Audit rating at or above CarMax standards for all Inventory categories.
Identifies opportunities to reduce waste, identifies process improvements that are value added for customers, Associates and the company.
Maintains movement of vehicle to WIP, helping to ensure zone and queue integrity
Maintains a sufficient supply of vehicles to support the input needs of the daily auction production process.
Effectively communicate across multiple levels, departments, and stores the changes in production and logistical needs and output in order to support all parties
Responsible for directing the maintenance of the appearance, staging, and organization of the Staging, Shipping and Receiving Zone.
Point of contact for facility maintenance and general upkeep
Point of contact for all facility EH&S compliance as well as standards
Maintain neat, courteous and professional appearance.
Wear CarMax clothing and adhere to company dress code policies.
Perform all of the duties above, and other matters of significance, by customarily and regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment.
Work requires ability to:
Successfully complete Position Development Plan
Successfully complete 5 Step Training Program
Successfully work with and through associates of other departments within the store.
Perform associate developmental tasks, including mentoring and performance management
Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records
Required to perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
Speak and listen effectively in dealing with customers/Associates, both in person and over the phone
Complete CarMax provided training in all functional areas of the Inventory process, allowing for cross-training and full coverage of the Inventory department.
Working Conditions:
Combination of both office and outdoor environment; may include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.
Requires non-manual work that may require walking or standing for extended periods of time.
Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends, holiday.
Wears CarMax clothing (acquired through company) at all times working in the store.
Adhere to all CarMax policies including, but not limited to, Attendance, Proper Recording of Time, Asset Protection, EH&S (Environmental, Health & Safety), and Standards of Professional Appearance.
