SR. SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNER, LAUNCH SYSTEMS (STARSHIP)

The Sr. Supply Chain Planner is a critical position within our Starship Launch Engineering and Operations team. This is a high-profile, cross functional position that plays an integral role in directly supporting Starship Launch System. They are an important asset to the team, responsible for ensuring all purchased and fabricated materials are ready to maintain and upgrade launch system that will eventually get us to Mars!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with our engineering, purchasing, production, and supply chain teams to ensure we mitigate part shortages to meet integration and launch

  • Work with engineers to identify part requirements, build out system level BOM's, and ensure proper signaling to supply chain and logistics teams

  • Coordinate off-site processing of parts to ensure on-time delivery

  • Perform de-kitting operations and own the return to stock process

  • Create inventory requests based on work orders and replacement parts

  • Maintain accurate configuration of assemblies (BOMs). Ensure accurate lead times, and inventory levels (including spares) to mitigate risk of production piece part shortages

  • Execute to a supplier bid-list with preferred suppliers. Mitigate sole/single source risk and ensure continuity of supply

  • Place POs for launch system parts

  • Diagnose and resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues

  • Interface with engineers and technicians on the release of work orders for build and ensure that work instructions are accurate and comprehensible

  • Assist engineering and fabrication teams in corrective actions, incorporate redlines/edits from engineers into existing technical specifications, test procedures, and technician-level work instructions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree; or bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:

  • Engineering

  • Purchasing

  • Contract negotiation

  • Material or production planning

  • Operations or supply chain management

  • Material cost control

  • Master production scheduling

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with inventory management processes and procedures

  • Familiarity with launch fluid systems

  • SQL or PowerBI experience

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic manufacturing environments

  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and ability to prioritize efforts to meet customer and company goals

  • Strong technical ability to read drawings and blueprints, understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external supplier relationships in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment

  • Value add engineering abilities that improve part quality, delivery, and cost

  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated and tracked results compared to goals

  • Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 25%)
