Description: This is one of the premier legal jobs in Lockheed Martin and the aerospace industry. In this role you will be a program counsel for:

- The Orion spacecraft that will return astronauts to the Moon as part of NASA's Artemis program;

- NASA and international Artemis Accord partner programs to develop a sustainable presence on the Moon in preparation for human travel to Mars;

- Developing nuclear thermal rocket propulsion, nuclear electric propulsion, and lunar fission surface power for DARPA, NASA, and AFRL;

- NASA deep space explorations such as Dragonfly, to search for signs of life on Saturn's largest moon, Titan; and OSIRIS-APEX, to explore the asteroid Apophis; and NOAA's Geostationary Extended Observation earth and space weather satellites;

- Supporting LM Space's Strategy & Business Development line of business in pursuing domestic and international government and commercial space opportunities while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Each of these programs and others like them present novel and engaging legal, business, government and commercial contracting, supply chain, data rights, space law, and international challenges.

Lockheed Martin Legal seeks an exceptional attorney with strong Government contracting experience who is a fast learner, team player, persuasive communicator, adept researcher, and strategic and tactical thinker, to interact with:

- Lockheed Martin's space and software engineers, scientists, and staff;

- NASA, NOAA, DARPA, and DOD legal counsel and program officials; and

- suppliers and counsel from the leading aerospace companies and competitors.

We support a breadth of other programs involving Space Force and DoD, strategic missile defense, and functional legal support areas. You will work in a collegial atmosphere with attorneys in Littleton, CO. Lockheed Martin offers flexible work schedules, however, given the nature of this position, full-time telework is not an option.

The successful candidate will be an attorney with a consistent track record of legal and Government contracting experience.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience and combined education.

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.

- Excellent communication skills. A writing sample is required for those interviewed.

- Ten years or more of legal and contracting experience with the US Government, a nationally recognized law firm, a corporation in a highly regulated industry, or all three.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.

Desired Skills:

- An active TS/SCI or eligible to be submitted and qualify for one.

- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong business acumen, risk management, and decision-making skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Experience with dispute resolution and litigation.

- The final position level, 5 or 6, will be determined by the applicant's overall level of experience.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $172,400 - $330,300 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
