Summary
The Senior Accountant position is focused on the preparation, reconciliation and analysis of MOD's lease portfolio under ASC 842 and serves as the team's subject matter expert on lease accounting. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced and growing business. Strong communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of period-end close journal entries, reconciliations and schedules under ASC 842.
Manage the lease abstraction and validation process, including possessions, renewals and modifications.
Develop processes with cross-functional groups to support ongoing lease renewals and modifications within the portfolio.
Coordinate monthly rent payment requests, ad hoc payments and periodic reporting for percentage rent.
Prepare the quarterly lease footnote and related schedules used for external financing reporting.
Ownership of the store impairment process, including analysis of underperforming stores, preparation of discounted cash flow analysis and working with internal and external parties to determine fair market value of store locations.
Liaison with external auditors on all aspects of lease accounting.
Other ad hoc projects, including research projects on lease accounting policy as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
3+ years of similar, progressive experience in Accounting, month-end closing procedures, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
Strong understanding of US GAAP
Technologically savvy with excellent Excel skills
High degree of professionalism and integrity
Ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA license
Public Accounting experience
Lucernex experience
Physical Requirements
Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
