Test Technician - 2nd Shift at SpaceX

TEST TECHNICIAN (STARLINK) - 2ND SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate satellite production test systems and maintain or exceed at production rate

  • Interact with graphical and textual interfaces to run automated systems on Windows and Linux platforms

  • Perform first level troubleshooting of test system errors by reading and interpreting test logs and telemetry

  • Support root-cause analysis of equipment failures and implement permanent fixes for issues found in test

  • Communicate failure modes to hardware owners and achieve direction from engineering

  • Perform dispositions for basic failure modes on nonconforming/failed satellites and execute repairs or removals/replacements

  • Collaborate with supervisors, leads, and engineers to develop training and troubleshooting documents

  • Build and validate test equipment under engineering direction with schematics/drawings

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of rack and test equipment

  • Perform production operations outside of reworks and testing as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate

  • 1+ years of experience working in a hands-on technical position or a bachelor's degree in an engineering field

  • 1+ years of experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working and administering a mixed Linux/Windows environment

  • Proficiency in scripting programs (Python, Bash)

  • Experience with virtualization technologies including VMWare and Virtualbox

  • Basic understanding of networking including VLANs

  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics

  • Strong computer and analytical skills including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, shop floor management software (ERP), and related programs

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to navigate and manipulate files

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to fabricate and repair cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping, assembling connectors

  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a 2nd shift role working from 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
