JMT's is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region.

The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations

  • Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials

  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.

  • Gathers and maintains record documents

  • Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Computer Proficiency

  • Active driver's license

Preferred Skills

  • Client Requested certifications, including: NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction

  • NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician

  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician

  • CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)

  • 1-4 years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience

  • Previous PennDOT and or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience

Preferred Experience

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
