The Director, Retail Payment Channel Partnerships is a strategic, relationship, and partnership-focused role supporting the broader Retail Network Sales team. It is considered an integral part of the sales team. This position is responsible for leveraging various partner channels across point-of-sale software vendors, value-added resellers, retail membership and associations groups, payment acceptance partners and more to grow the Solutran retail network and strengthen existing retailer relationships.
The next phase of S3 network expansion calls for a channel partner approach to help Optum efficiently growth its retail network footprint in depth and breadth. This role will be responsible for building a partner-based strategy which creates sales efficiencies and easily identifies solid channel partnerships to unlock exponential retail network growth. There will be existing and new retail channel partners to formalize and build long term relationships around.
The Director, Retail Payment Channel Partnerships will partner internally with Optum Retail Sales, Product and Solutions teams to identify opportunities where the combination of Optum and a Retail Channel Partner creates net new, incremental value for all parties including the end users of the S3 network. This role will own relationships, agreements, and negotiations with external retail channel partners. These responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of retail channel partnerships, beginning with the first project and continuing through subsequent projects, requiring elements of long-term account management relationship fostering.
This role will be tasked with understanding our partner's businesses inside and out and becoming a trusted resource to help them accomplish their stated goals while also protecting Optum's assets and value at the same time.
The position requires a unique blend of business development, listening, analysis, design, and communication skills. As an experienced member of the team, it is expected all of these responsibilities are well honed and effective. It is this individual's responsibility to document processes and playbooks to ensure future team scale.

Primary Responsibilities:
Identify, source, and establish solid, valuable retail channel partnerships across Point of Sale Providers, payment gateways, and Retail, Grocery, and Pharmacy membership groups, to expand the S3 retail network
Work with leadership to design a partnership strategy and execution playbook
Understand and negotiate partnership agreements with external retail channel partners
Partner with the marketing organization to co-develop compelling partner presentations
Define and manage the operational process surrounding retail channel partner and sales engagement
Support the retail account management team as an expert on the partnership approach of Optum solutions throughout the channel partner sales cycle
Establish and manage regular partnership performance meetings both internally and externally
Maintain detailed accountings of channel partnership activity and results
Partner with Optum Product team to identify and prioritize new development projects associated with retail channel partnership opportunities
Interact directly with prospective channel partners as a key point of contact within Optum
Assist the retail network sales team in efforts to add new retailers to the Optum S3 network via channel partners
Stay current on the healthcare landscape as it relates to impacts on partner ecosystems
Stay current on competitive analyses and understand differentiators between the company and its competitors
Understanding business and technical problems addressed by the products including key regulations, business drivers, evolving business needs, security, etc.
Conduct retail channel partner training sessions
Follow up with account team throughout the sales cycle as needed to help secure business
Travel for any required onsite sales or partner meetings and lead presentations as necessary

Required Qualifications:
4+ years of related experience sourcing and managing retail channel partners across Point-of-Sale Providers, payment gateways, and Retail, Grocery, and Pharmacy membership groups
4+ years of Business to Business sales
4+ years of experience negotiating partnership agreements
Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of the sales process and trusted advisor for account team
Proven ability to exhibit natural leadership qualities and business maturity
Proven ability to exhibit prior and current technical expertise in web technology and the ability to learn new technology
Proven solid attention to detail, time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced, demanding environment
Proven ability to communicate, mentor, teach, and explain concepts at multiple levels with the capability to extract the business value related to the proposed solutions
Proven solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write error-free, professional proposals and executive summaries for retail partners

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
