The Testbed & Simulation Product Line is a fast paced, highly dynamic, and growing organization of 120 people that play a vital role in providing mission-critical intelligence solutions by optimizing satellite constellations, processing data through its entire life cycle and developing reliable cutting-edge infrastructure for information dissemination across a global network and to 30+ Space programs.
Within these programs, you will participate in the design, development, verification and deployment of complex new software and hardware simulation systems.
The Tb&S (Testbed and Simulation) Product Line is seeking a highly motivated ASIC & Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) Design Engineer with a strong interest in hardware design, test and software scripting. This position will support full project life cycles of testbed products, including Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWILs) testbeds.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Lead FPGA architecture, standards, development and review processes
- Developing FPGA cores and images
o Including high speed interfaces (SerDes, Gigabit Ethernet, etc)
- Create FPGA test scripts using scripting languages and troubleshoot hardware issues
- Work with software teams to integrate FPGA with driver and simulation software
- System-level understanding of our simulation products
- Reviewing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and developing Concept of Operations (ConOps)
- Understanding TB&S testbed architecture and developing signal channelization lists, wire diagrams, and top level designs
- Troubleshooting design equipment
- Collaboration across the different Tb&S teams and program teams
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with software/hardware leads within the Product Line.
Secondary electronics/electrical engineering duties may be asked to support programs as required:
o Designing custom harness and cable designs
o Designing Custom Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA)
o Engineering Liaison with technicians during fabrication
o Writing and executing Equipment Functional Checkout Procedures (EFCP)
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) and Hardware Description language (VHDL)
- Experience with configuration control system like (eg Git , GitLab, Github etc..)
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
Must be a US Citizen; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance TS/SCI
Preference for this requisition will be given to Space Employees.
Desired Skills:
- VHDL Simulators (eg QuestaSim, Vivado Simulator, etc)
- Experience in full life cycle product development
- High speed (greater than or equal to 1Gbit/s) video signal interfaces and integration experience.
- Gigabit Ethernet design and integration experience.
- Experience with resolving synthesis/implementation issues and timing failures.
- Experience with using scripting languages, such as Python, for FPGA testing on hardware.
- Experience with communication protocols (i.e. MIL-STD-1553, TCP/IP, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, IEEE 488, DMA, PCIE, SRIO, XAUI, SPI, I2C, etc.).
- Experience with Tool Common Language (tcl) scripts.
- Experience programming Xilinx FPGAs with VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience with hardware development life-cycle: requirements, design, development, integration and test,
and maintenance.
- Experience writing and executing test procedures.
- Experience with cable/harness design.
- Broad range of electronic circuit design experience in areas such as analog, digital, microcontroller, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), and power supply circuits.
- Experience developing software using text-based languages, such as Python, C/C++/C#, Visual Basic.
- Experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and schematic capture and PWB/PCB layout interface, generating a BOM (Bill of Materials) of required components/parts, and working with vendors for fabrication, assembly, and parts procurement.
- Experience in hardware/software integration, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting and repair cable setups, PWB/PCB, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and a variety of electronic equipment.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $109,500 - $209,900 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
