This is a Collective Bargaining Unit Position.
The Registered Nurse provides care within the scope of the Ohio/Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of nursing care utilizing the nursing process, evidence-based standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. The Registered Nurse will incorporate the American Nursing Association Code of Ethics for Nurses in daily practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assessment: Collect and record a nursing assessment of the health status of the behavioral health patient.
Collect and record objective and subjective data and communicate as appropriate to the other members of the healthcare team.
Modify the assessment as the patient's a condition/status changes.
Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Analysis: Analyze the assessment data and establish, accept or modify a nursing diagnosis to be used as a basis for nursing interventions.
Planning: Develop, maintain or modify the nursing component of the plan of care and;
Communicate the nursing component of the plan of care and all modifications to the plan to all appropriate members of the treatment team.
Implementation: Executing the current treatment regimen as prescribed by the Physician, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Providing direct nursing care commensurate with the education, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the registered nurse.
Collaborating with other nurses and members of the treatment team.
Delegating nursing tasks as approved by the Ohio/Kentucky Board of Nursing.
Complete 15-minute safety checks on the units.
Evaluation: Evaluate the patient's response to the nursing interventions.
Document and communicate the patient response to nursing interventions to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
The registered nurse systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of the nursing process.
Direct supervision of assigned personnel.
Facilitate group, nursing, and psycho-educational. Co-facilitate process groups.
Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reports to the designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or policies.
Demonstrates ethical, sound professional practices and personal accountability. Acts in alignment with the mission and core values of Mercy Health.
Holds others accountable to standards of performance, and directly supervises the clinical work of those coworkers assigned to their team.
Displays curiosity and desire for knowledge and staying current with colleagues, be curious about business and the health care services industry.
Participates in the supervision of clinical interns or students and/or volunteers, utilizing orientation, observation, record reviews, feedback, and evaluations as required.
Participates in the safe management of the milieu, intervening effectively with patients who behave inappropriately or who are having coping difficulty, utilizing effective non-abusive crisis prevention/intervention techniques.
Treats patients and families with empathy and respect. Other duties as assigned.
Maintains effective working relationships with team members, (requires both flexibility and setting limits).

2 year Associates Degree
Specialty/Major: Nursing
Preferred Education:
4-year Bachelors Degree
Specialty/Major: BSN preferred
Previous behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
Schedule/Shift
Full Time - Scheduled for 36 Weekly Hours
Shift Time - 7am-7pm
This position will have scheduled shifts every other weekend.
