Title: SIGN MAKER (ELECTRONIC) Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 220000XA Job Summary: Prepares pointofpurchase signs utilizing appropriate software application for supported Exchanges retailservice operations Uniform Centers and Navy Lodges. Ensures the efficient processing and distribution of sign requests and visual materials. Duties and Responsibilities: Distributes vendor coupons rebates and other promotional materials to Navy Exchange activities. Works independently within established NEXCOMNEX sales promotion schedules to input centralized pointofpurchase electronic signing such as advertising and product information signs fact tags. Transmits to NEX locations promptly before commencement of promotional events. Operates electronic sign machine systems to develop signing formats and print sign requirements utilizing appropriate software application. Develops and routinely updates extensive database of merchandise and service offering including descriptive copy prices variable by regionlocation and UPCs used in preparing and printing systemwide electronic signing. Works directly with NEXCOM buying staff and operational specialists to ensure database is accurate and promptly transmitted to NEX locations. Verifies signing format data for accuracy of input. Initiates standard corrective procedures when errors are detected. Reports equipment failures to supervisor and sign machine company technical representative to ensure prompt repair. Performs minor repairs service andor preventative maintenance as necessary. Ensures adherence to manufacturers maintenanceservice agreements. Maintains liaison between NEXCOM and NEXCENNEX sign shop. Assists sign makingvisual merchandising personnel to determine best signing concepts to meet particular requirements. Works directly with NEX personnel to resolve routine electronic signing hardware and software issues. Receives and logs sign requestsrequisitions. Ensures signs adhere to established guidelines. Electronically transmits computer generated sign formats updated merchandise database information disclaimersnotices and printing quantities to locations. Maintains inventory of centrally stored signing and visual merchandising materials and as requested prepares items for shipment to activities with the appropriate transfer documentation. Indoctrinates and provides training to NEX sign makingvisual merchandising personnel in the operation of electronic sign machine equipment electronic signing software applications and applicable database programs. Maintains a file of data disks and programs and takes inventory of supplies for electronic sign machine equipment and initiates requisitions for supplies as necessary. Performs administrative functions. Prepares correspondence such as letters memos electronic mail messages etc. in proper format. Screens telephone calls and provides general information. Prepares separates sorts etc. promotional and advertising materials such as coupons rebates and visual signing etc. Prepares routine reports requiring the gathering and compilation of informationdata from department operating records NEX advertising schedules etc. May develop and compile statistical data as required. Prepares charts graphs spreadsheets etc. Using automated equipment and software. Works under the supervision of a designated supervisor who makes assignments and is available for guidance and assistance. Refers difficult or unusual problems to supervisor for assistance. Work is reviewed by spot check for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE 3 years experience which demonstrated possession of the necessary mechanical skills required of the position to be filled. Such experience may have been gained in operation of sign machines show card printing graphics or illustration. A thorough knowledge of the equipment setup adjustment operating procedures and a corresponding level of skill to set up operate and adjust the equipment. Candidates overall background and work history should indicate positive evidence to perform sign making work. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided knowledge of the creation of signing formats and print sign requirements. Background in the areas of planning collateral sales promotional aids such as pointof purchase signing sales incentives decor materials etc. determines best signing concepts to meet promotional needs.
