Job Summary
Dominion's Substation Engineering department is seeking a motivated Intern currently enrolled in an ABET accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology program who will be responsible for supporting experienced Engineers in the development of substation engineering physical or protection and control design packages. This work is vital to support the Company's growth plans and includes support of projects varying in size and complexity. While this position is primarily in an office environment, periodic field trips to Dominion substations will be required.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will work with Substation Engineers and Designers to create and modify detailed engineering drawings for substation projects using computer-aided design software. Once drawings are completed, they will be issued for construction. As necessary, the intern will accompany the engineer to the field to better understand how the engineering drawings are used by the construction team. The intern will perform other duties and special projects as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Currently enrolled in an ABET accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology program. Electrical /Mechanical/ Nuclear.
1+ years or 2 semesters of Computer-Aided Design experience as of Summer 2023 (required)
Anticipated graduation of Spring/Fall 2025 & Spring 2026
Competency in applying technical concepts, standards, processes and procedures.
Ability to think analytically and solve technical problems.
Strong math skills to perform design calculations.
Ability to work well with others.
