Job Summary
The Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Business Development (BD) Team is responsible for the development and acquisition of solar energy generation interconnected to the distribution electric delivery system. The team's objective is to develop and or acquire projects that meet the needs and goals of Dominion Energy, our customers, our shareholders, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. The DER Team is expected to innovate and adapt to ever changing market dynamics to achieve our objectives.
The Senior BD Manager is considered a leadership role with project management responsibilities that include leading development and acquisition/partnership activities and originating offtake contracts with customers for energy infrastructure projects.
The Senior BD Manager is the lead participant in negotiations of project contracts and agreements, pro forma financial modeling and analysis, preparation of regulatory or governmental filings/applications, executive level communications, preparation of governance materials and public presentations. This includes leading internal teams from multiple disciplines and departments including construction, operations, external affairs, public policy, corporate communications, legal, tax, accounting, environmental, risk management, fuels, treasury, investor relations, and financial analysis. This also includes leading evaluation, analysis, due diligence activities, and negotiations for prospective energy infrastructure acquisition and development opportunities.
For project acquisition/partnership opportunities, this role is responsible for leading negotiations and for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing energy infrastructure projects in the electric business.
For the development of energy infrastructure projects, the Senior BD Manager is accountable for the entire business case, project scope, project team, permitting activities, interconnection agreements, acquisition of land rights, local relationship cultivation, maintenance of project schedules, corporate governance, and senior management communications.
The Senior BD Manager is expected to mentor other junior team members in aspects of energy infrastructure project development, project acquisitions/partnerships, and energy technologies. With extensive knowledge of the energy industry, the Senior BD Manager is responsible for leading and pursuing growth strategies and opportunities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
A minimum of 8 years of directly relevant experience in financial analysis, project management, account management, contract negotiations, project development, or other similar roles
Extensive knowledge of electric project development, facility production, and energy markets
Superior financial analysis skills, including ability to review and make investment recommendations based on pro forma financial statement inputs and results
Experience in leading commercial contract negotiations, acquisition/partnership and divestiture activities, and development of large or small energy projects/facilities
Exemplary leadership and communication abilities (oral/written/presentation/interpersonal) to drive results in a team environment under minimal direction with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Ability to synthesize complex information to make strategic business decisions
Strong organizational, risk analysis, and project planning/execution skills
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple key project efforts
Demonstrated computer skills including MS Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
