We are seeking a Network Technician with an active TS/SCI with Poly to join our team in the Hanover, MD area. General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Responsibilities:
Installation of network components appropriate for classroom network infrastructure.
Installation of network component appropriate for virtual learning infrastructure.
Documentation of observed network issues.
Network evaluation, hardware/software installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, tuning, automation scripting and general user support.
Duties will also include maintaining system documentation, developing infrastructure support procedures, and providing security support.
Provides technical support to internal and external personnel on highly complex network system installation processes.

Minimum Education/Minimum Years of Experience:
Network Technician must be able to successfully demonstrate the following capabilities:
Experience installing, maintaining, and updating vCenter and ESXi.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting issues on vCenter, ESXi hosts, dvswitches, port groups, and VMs.
Understanding of the different services that allow VMware to perform given tasks.
Experience with networking technologies such as routers, switches, encryption, and firewalls.
Experience with TCP/IP networking, networking architecture, computer and operating systems.
Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools is required.
Experience with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.
Understanding of Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation.
Experience with monitoring solutions and datacenter operations required.
Preferred:
Experience with VMware PowerCLI or Pyvmomi is desired.
Possess the ability to explain complex abstraction layer designs and troubleshooting steps.
A working knowledge of Windows and Windows Servers.
A working knowledge of both Linux and Windows platforms.
Experience with hardening systems and reading/implementing STIG guidance is strongly desired.
Comfortable working at the command line.
Experience installing and configuring of the Dell servers that ESXi will be installed on.
Basic knowledge of or experience with the hardware layer and how it interacts with the software layer directly (example the Dell server the host sits on or the Cisco switch the NIC connects to).
Experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.).
Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl).
Proven ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.
Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.
Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.
Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) is desired but not required.
