The Sr Manager, Transportation is a critical partner to the entire Supply Chain team, and is ultimately responsible for the transportation of all forward, reverse, and marketing shipments. This individual must be able to manage multiple projects, external business partner and priorities in a fluid and ever-changing business environment, balancing cost considerations with business and customer service level expectations. The individual must have a thorough understanding of how to manage risks, optimize networks, reduce costs and provide information to various internal customers about the flow of shipments. The individual must have a proven record in developing and motivating employees.
What you'll do in your role.
Lead and manage transportation analyst team to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that balance cost savings with internal and external service level expectations and maximize operational efficiencies.
Act as vendor manager to transportation carriers - ensure compliance of operational SOPs, validate pricing, manage claims processing and asset recovery. In addition, work with contract team to negotiate contracts and pricing, ensure compliance, and regularly validate current carrier pricing with market rates.
Provide transportation expertise to other internal and external teams for large scale project work and logistics driven cost savings and operational efficiency opportunities.
Manage supply chain and marketing shipments in excess of $250 million dollars annually.
Work with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with routing and SOP performance.
The experience you'll bring.
10 years of progressively more responsible and varied transportation or logistics experience required
7 years of supervisory experience couple with the ability to develop and improve the skill level of team members as needed, strong ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision, excellent ability to analyze data timely, efficiently, effectively and multi task projects and assignments simultaneously
5 years direct experience with small parcel shippers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, and mail consolidators
Demonstrated understanding of data capability and data integrity improvements
Understanding of financial budgeting and accrual processes as related to transportation management
Experience with import and export logistics and compliance activities
In depth experience managing multiple carrier segments and contracts - specifically for small parcel, USPS, LTL, TL, and airfreight
In depth experience managing carriers with spend in excess of $250 million annually
In depth experience with contract & 3rd party logistics
Ability to make critical, time sensitive decision making that impacts contractual agreements and excellent customer service and phone skills
Proven experience monitoring and holding applicable parties accountable to routing decisions
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization, ability to build and maintain cross functional working relationships in a team environment, strong organizational skills and close attention to detail, ability to deal with changing objectives, deadlines and priorities beyond one's control and ability to remain calm and unemotional in stressful situations
Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint
Advanced analytical thinking, and proficient in information management, business intelligence, and data-driven decision support.
Knowledge of wireless industry
SAP Experience
Documented experience using data modeling/relational databases
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma or GED
