Job Description:
Responsible for the operational and strategic planning, design, implementation and oversight of Essentia Health (EH) Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program for inpatients across all regions. Requires advanced coding and clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes. Provides hands on expertise related to clinical documentation integrity and works closely with regional and site specific executive leadership to implement and manage a concurrent CDI program. Implements processes to obtain appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, advanced practitioners, and coding staff to ensure appropriate reimbursement for the level of services rendered to the patients. Develops collaborative relationships with internal resources, consultants, and physicians to achieve established CDI plan and metrics.
Education Qualifications:
This Manager position will oversee inpatient and outpatient documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, health information management, or other related healthcare field.
Licensure/Certifications required:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Nurse (RN).
Preferred Certifications:
Additional certification as Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDSO)
Work Experience: 5 years of experience in a clinical documentation improvement program with at least 3 years of experience in CDI leadership in an acute care hospital
