Summary

The Accounting Manager serves as a leader within our accounting group and oversees a portion of the operational accounting team. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who can contribute to a fast-paced and growth-oriented company through process improvement, cross-functional leadership, and building successful teams. This position is responsible for operational accounting, including period-end close, account reconciliation review, and management reporting. This position reports to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor members of the operational accounting team.

  • Oversee the period-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entry review, and account analysis.

  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and internal management reporting.

  • Work cross-functionally with other accounting leadership to drive improve processes, support company growth, and implement business initiatives.

  • Employ a continuous improvement mindset to scale the accounting function, enhance the financial close process, and promote best practices.

  • Support the development of a robust internal control environment within the business.

  • Assess and implement new technical accounting guidance and educate members of the accounting team on the operational impact.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to business partners and cross-functional teams on operational accounting, including support systems.

  • Prepare and review materials to support periodic, quarterly, and annual reporting including external audits.

  • Ad hoc projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of five years of accounting experience, with a minimum of one year of management experience.

  • CPA required

  • Public Accounting experience required

  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley monitoring required

  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting and financial issues and apply technical literature appropriately

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experienced in managing period-end close processes

  • Ability to work effectively and independently while managing concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities. Must be able to multi-task.

Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
