Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower, and other resources to ensure effective and efficient operations and that work assignments are completed properly.
Supervise all activities of drivers and dockworkers responsible for efficient loading/unloading of trailers along with productive pick-up and delivery of freight at customer locations.
Ensure necessary resources of labor, equipment and time are available to all employees to allow maximum productivity of operations staff.
Speak to employee groups and conduct effective pre-shift meetings.
Ensure load quality, timelines, and work efficiency goals are met.
Interact daily with internal and external customers to deliver exceptional customer service to meet and exceed customer expectations and provide on-time and quality delivery of freight.
Recruit, develop and retain qualified employees to ensure effective operations in support of company's mission and goals. Responsible for the selection, training, motivation and discipline of employees.

Academy classes meet 8-hours a day, 5-days a week for 4 weeks. While at the Driving Academy, students earn a wage for their training time and may be eligible for paid travel based on location . After successful completion of the Driving Academy, students test for a Class A CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.
The Yellow Driving Academies teach students skills to be the one of the safest drivers on the road. Our instructors, many with a million miles or more of safe driving experience, actively engage all students in the classroom, in the practice yard, and on the road. By joining Yellow, you attend our Best in Class Truck Driving Academy/Apprenticeship and enter a fulfilling, dynamic occupation.
Paid training is at $17.50per hour. Once you receive your Class A CDL you will increase significantly to a qualified driver's pay.
Once a student successfully completes the Yellow Driving Academy, they are trained at their home terminal for another 4 weeks. Once they are signed off to drive solo, their responsibilities include:
Operating a tractor-trailer (single, double, or triple trailer combination) in various driving environments and weather conditions between company facilities
Driving for extended periods of time
Maintaining truck electronic logging device (ELD) logs according to state and federal regulations
Performing Pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor/trailer(s) and En Route inspections with authorities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with all company policies local work and safety rules, and federal, state, and local regulations that govern the industry.
Follow company procedures for properly and safely loading and unloading freight. Safely operate an industrial powered forklift to load and unload freight.
Take and verify dispatch instructions.
Operate a tractor-trailer combination (single, double, or triple trailer combination) in urban, suburban, and rural environments and in all types of weather conditions between company facilities and various customers.
Drive truck to transport materials in liquid or packaged form to and from specified destinations, such as railroad stations, plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards. Verify load against shipping papers. Drive truck to specified destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area. Prepare receipt for load picked up. Collect payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
Load and unload freight in varying weather conditions at the company and customer facilities, using the same procedures and techniques as a Dock Worker.
Safe operation of equipment and on-time movement of shipments between company locations and customers, meeting established run times and schedules.
Drop and hook trailer(s) and change the configuration of equipment, as necessary. Connect air hoses and electrical lines, install, and remove tire chains, and manually crank dolly wheels.
When hauling hazardous material, verify the hazardous material product description, determine any discrepancies in the paperwork, and verify proper placarding.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Inspect the operating condition of the tractor and trailer(s) before and after trip, and when stopped enroute. Take responsibility for reasonable and customary care for the security of equipment.
May maintain truck electronic logging device (ELD) logs according to state and federal regulations. May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. May inspect truck equipment as supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, and tire chains.

The Weights & Research (W&R) Coordinator is responsible for identifying freight that is potentially misclassified, improperly weighed and/or sized; researching associated commodity classifications, reviewing customer pricing and then determining and communicating appropriate corrective actions and necessary billing adjustments. Working directly with customers and Sales to address recurring W&R issues. Developing and improving systems, procedures and methods of freight classification, dimension and weight capture ensuring accurate results are achieved and consistent standards are applied. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct all W&R activity at your assigned facility. Assist, coach or collaborate with Operations Management with the objective of optimizing the W&R program; working to reducing unnecessary rework, controlling program costs, and leveraging local resources to achieve monthly goals.
Develop approach for effective reinforcement of W&R activities including weight, inspections and packaging for customers. Work to motivate dockworkers and Operations Teams to support the program.
Lead dock and office preshift discussions covering W&R program topics including SOP changes and compliance issues. Provide feedback to dockworkers related to account specific freight-handling issues.
Coordinate scale and dimension device repairs and calibrations with local Operations Team members and the respective device vendors to ensure local and federal calibration law compliance. Complete minor adjustments or repairs to reduce vendor costs. Validate proper program records are maintained.
Determine freight to inspect based on knowledge of classification codes, historical trends, highest revenue potential and interface with dockworkers and Operations Team members. Work with dockworkers and operations supervisors to locate and hold freight for inspection.
By visually inspecting, measuring, weighing and photographing the freight determine if billing adjustments are required, and complete adjustments based on the inspection of the freight and review of account pricing. Issue W&R certificates and communicates required changes to Freight Billing Team.
Collaborate with Account Executives and the Pricing Team on customer specific freight classification, pricing, costing or related issues discovered that require internal adjustment or customer attention. Develop action plan for the customer to fix any issues including inspections, weights and packaging.
Direct local customer visits when necessary to discuss W&R inspections, packaging and classification issues with customers; the visit should be coordinated with the Sales Team.
Investigate W&R customer protests for reversal of additional charges, determine proper classification and negotiate resolution that is acceptable to the customer and company. Demonstrate sensitivity to the implications of W&R corrections on external customer while ensure the company is properly compensated for the services provided.
Participate in the development of W&R goals by identifying account pricing and classification changes of local and inbound accounts that affect the goal setting effort.
Attend local training, vendor and/or carrier meetings in support of our internal programs; identify new opportunities and work with internal teams to capture new program value.
