Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This is a development position, which provides an opportunity to learn the sales function in the logistics industry. Will collaborate with our industry experts and will partner with major accounts to meet or exceed revenue and profit goals. Gain skills and grow by understanding customer's business model and supply chain needs, developing shipping solutions using Yellow's portfolio of services, and resolving issues in support of customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Actively pursue and qualify valued business opportunities. Learn and implement successful selling strategies/techniques.

  2. Manage new and established account development for continued revenue and profit growth. Define and propose specific approaches to meet and exceed customer needs.

  3. Identify situations requiring effective negotiation and maintain positive client relationships throughout any issue resolution process.

  4. Take ownership in learning the business by increasing knowledge of products, services and pricing.

  5. Utilize available resources and knowledge to orchestrate solutions that increase market share and profitability.

  6. Grow and develop a portfolio of shared and new local accounts to provide cost-effective solutions that meet targeted customer needs while managing churn and account profitability.

  7. Gain knowledge by negotiating pricing programs with new clients to gain consistent revenue flow while protecting profitable margin.

  8. Educate customers about various services offered, enhance the customer relationship, and secure additional business.

  1. Perform a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs of the organization.

  2. Provide subject matter expert support to achieve goals and successfully complete assigned projects, verify statistical analysis, and Six Sigma processes.

  3. Partner with Senior Management, business leaders, subject matter experts, project teams and functional/non-functional partners to develop solutions to critical daily business challenges.

  4. Lead project teams to define project scope, analyze complex variables, identify effective solutions, and develop implementation and control plans using appropriate Lean Six Sigma/Industrial Engineering methodologies and tools.

  5. Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams and communicate the teams' progress to business leadership. Progress will be measured by regularly monitoring performance against defined milestones, as well as improvements in key metrics.

  6. Apply Lean Six Sigma/Industrial Engineering approach and methods to analyze root cause issues and identify a creative solution to the problem.

  8. Develop documentation for assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate a tractor-trailer to pick up and deliver freight within a defined area

  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor/trailer(s) and when stopped en route

  • Drop and hook trailer(s) and change equipment configurations as necessary

  • Load and unload freight from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.

  • Prepare, inspect, and clean trailers before loading freight

  • Review freight bills for special instructions and inspect freight for damage

JOB SUMMARY

Will supervise, train and develop assigned staff creating a team working environment. Ensure compliance with company and government required policies and procedures. Work with the shop team to meet safety goals. Coordinate the inspection, maintenance and repair of linehaul equipment and/or supervise the rebuild of components and equipment repair. Ensure that repairs are timely for meeting system demands and for providing safe, reliable and driver acceptable equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure the efficient movement of inbound tractors, trailers and converters through the service lanes.

  2. Maintain required maintenance documentation.

  3. Coordinate maintenance on all equipment. Coordinate a cost effective preventative maintenance program providing for safe, clean, driver acceptable equipment.

  4. Supervise the repair of equipment ensuring timeliness in meeting system demands.

  5. Maintain inventory control on all repair parts and tools. Review repair orders for accurate listing and extension of repair parts, maintaining proper accountability of chargeable repair parts.

  6. Communicate, monitor and maintain compliance with company safety and work rules, policies, and procedures. Train and develop assigned staff for providing timely and quality repair.

  7. Ensure the shop safety process is followed. Effectively communicate safety topics and perform safety inspection of tools and facilities as required.

  8. Manage area vendors for control to ensure plan containment and schedule of repairs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Experience in the transportation industry with knowledge of equipment maintenance.

  3. Effective organizational, planning and prioritization skills.

  4. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  5. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities.

  6. Must be flexible, willing to work any schedule, including weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related area.

  2. Background/knowledge of equipment maintenance.

  3. Five (5) years of experience managing a maintenance shop operation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental working conditions vary and employee may encounter vibration, noise, odors, and extremes in temperature and wind as well as exposure to varied weather, varied surfaces, sharp edges, varied lighting and confined and congested areas and occasionally exposure to petroleum-based products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, and grease.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and maintain balance for extensive periods of time. Occasionally sit. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasionally lift to 35 lbs. Constantly perform repetitive tasks; stretch, turn, twist, and reach overhead; bend, crouch, squat, kneel and stoop.
