Job Description

ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital is a 25-bed, acute-care Critical Access Hospital serving the residents of Fostoria and surrounding communities. Patients at Fostoria Community Hospital have access to state-of-the-art diagnostic, emergency and surgical facilities, as well as general medical care and inpatient intensive care. Position Summary:

Prepares, seasons, and cooks food for hospitals patients, employees, and visitors. Performs lead role for kitchen service activities and the delivery of food in consultation with the Chef, Managers, Supervisors, and Clinical Dietitians.

Accountabilities:

  • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients/clients served, i.e. infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

  • Prepares, seasons, and cooks food. Cuts, pours, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes. Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, including choppers, slicers, mixers, and blenders.

  • Previews menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of meals, vegetables, soups, salads, and desserts to be obtained and prepared. Responsible for menu selection and completion.

  • Plans and coordinates cooking schedules so that meals will be ready at required times.

  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Alerts Manager to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, or other unusual conditions.

  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. Ensures that sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process as well as throughout the workday.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education: None required.

Skills: Capable of operating kitchen equipment; have good math and communication skills; be able to read and speak English; have the ability to learn how to change and convert recipes as needed and to learn special diet production needs. The Candidate needs to be able to deal effectively with a fast-paced environment and be open to new ideas and be willing to take instruction. Must have a basic understanding of culinary basics: cooking temperatures and proper labeling/rotation of food product.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: High school graduate or GED. Culinary degree preferred, but not required

  • Skills: Specialized training in food preparation/culinary techniques

  • Years of Experience: 1 year in food production preferred

  • Certification: Food Handler Card or Serv Safe preferred, but not required

Working Conditions:

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Coat or apron, hat, and non-sterile medical gloves.

  • Physical Demands: Occasional lifts, carries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Frequently has prolonged standing and walking. Manual dexterity and mobility necessary. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Exposed to electrical hazards, cuts, and burns. Exposed to hot, humid, noisy equipment/environment, and varying degrees of kitchen elements.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will be competent to care for patients of all ages to include infants, children, adolescents, adult and geriatric population dependent on the area assigned. This individual performs the duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned, under minimal supervision from the Respiratory Care Department leadership team and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care. The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs these assigned duties and responsibilities according to regulatory standards, clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures approved by the Medical Directors and Administration. ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Achieves and maintains a level of competency to perform prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice, as required per business unit, in accordance to departmental competency standards, which include general care, critical care, emergency care and diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to, the following: - General Care: patient identification and assessment, medical gas delivery, medication administration via nebulizers and MDI/DPI, Broncho pulmonary hygiene and hyperinflation therapy - Critical Care: initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation; airway management and suction, including tracheostomy, endotracheal and pharyngeal; cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation and extubation; set-up, calibration, insertion (arterial lines) and maintenance of indwelling lines and catheters, and high risk newborn deliveries - Emergency Care: responds to rapid responses and emergency codes; performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and actively participates in patient stabilization, internal and external transports - Diagnostic Care: blood sampling and analysis, specimen collection, continuous and/or noninvasive monitoring, bedside pulmonary function screens, spontaneous breathing parameters and electrocardiograms (EKG) Note: critical tests and values will be reported in a timely manner per Hospital Policy.

  2. Safely assembles, operates and trouble shoots therapeutic and diagnostic equipment required for patient care, including but not limited to, the following: - Gas administration, monitoring and analyzing devices including flow meters and regulators, blenders, cylinders and bulk systems, compressors, analyzers, and pulse oximeters - Mechanical devices, including mechanical ventilators, manometers, gauges, spirometers and EKG machines. - Laboratory equipment for blood gas analysis - Age specific patient care equipment, including resuscitation equipment, oral and nasal airways, endotracheal and tracheal tubes - Equipment disinfection and sterilization

  3. Understands and applies Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines, to provide safe, highly efficient and cost effective care, using evidence based best practice.

  4. Provides educational needs of patients on disease specific process, tobacco cessation and respiratory care services provided, including instruction for home care equipment and medications.

  5. Assist with clinical instruction of respiratory care, nursing, medical students and residents, as needed. Actively participates in the orientation of new staff and contributes to the growth of others.

  6. Understands and acts in accordance with all Respiratory Care and Hospital Policies and Procedures for those areas assigned and is able to independently function in those areas.

  7. Completes accurate patient documentation, including billing and productivity standards. Participates in creating a plan of care, evaluate achievement of identified goals, record results and communicate pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by leadership within the scope of training and practice, including the ability to perform essential duties in other business units as part of a shared staffing plan, as required.

  • Education: A graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program and maintain credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will be competent to care for patients of all ages to include infants, children, adolescents, adult and geriatric population dependent on the area assigned. This individual performs the duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned, under minimal supervision from the Respiratory Care Department leadership team and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care.   • Utilizes laboratory computer information system to include all work aides and shortcuts within the system. Utilizes quality assurance data to enhance the services rendered by the section. Recommends changes in procedures to address quality issues and provide customer/patient satisfaction.

  • Performs and documents quality control procedures.

  • Acts as a resource and is a liaison between phlebotomy staff and Laboratory /Point of Care Team.

  • Cross trained in defined core job functions and patient care departments.

  • Routinely perform difficult specimen collections, such as re-draws and misses.

  • Assists in the training of new associates or students.

  • As needed, performs all pre-analytic tasks associated with sample preparation including, but not limited to, centrifugation, decanting, and specimen packaging.

POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Respiratory Therapist will be competent to care for patients of all ages to include infants, children, adolescents, adult and geriatric population dependent on the area assigned. This individual performs the duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned, under minimal supervision from the Respiratory Care Department leadership team and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care. The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs these assigned duties and responsibilities according to regulatory standards, clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures approved by the Medical Directors and Administration. This individual will frequently make independent decisions regarding modification of therapy in accordance with clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Achieves and maintains a level of competency to perform prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice, as required per business unit, in accordance to departmental competency standards, which include general care, critical care, emergency care and diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to, the following: - General Care: patient identification and assessment, medical gas delivery, medication administration via nebulizers and MDI/DPI, bronchopulmonary hygiene and hyperinflation therapy - Critical Care: initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation; airway management and suction, including tracheostomy, endotracheal and pharyngeal; cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation and extubation; set-up, calibration, insertion (arterial lines) and maintenance of indwelling lines and catheters, and high risk newborn deliveries - Emergency Care: responds to rapid responses and emergency codes; performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and actively participates in patient stabilization, internal and external transports - Diagnostic Care: blood sampling and analysis, specimen collection, continuous and/or noninvasive monitoring, bedside pulmonary function screens, spontaneous breathing parameters and electrocardiograms (EKG) Note: critical tests and values will be reported in a timely manner per Hospital Policy.

  2. Safely assembles, operates and trouble shoots therapeutic and diagnostic equipment required for patient care, including but not limited to, the following: - Gas administration, monitoring and analyzing devices including flow meters and regulators, blenders, cylinders and bulk systems, compressors, analyzers, and pulse oximeters - Mechanical devices, including mechanical ventilators, manometers, gauges, spirometers and EKG machines. - Laboratory equipment for blood gas analysis - Age specific patient care equipment, including resuscitation equipment, oral and nasal airways, endotracheal and tracheal tubes - Equipment disinfection and sterilization

  3. Understands and applies Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines, to provide safe, highly efficient and cost effective care, using evidence based best practice.

  4. Provides educational needs of patients on disease specific process, tobacco cessation and respiratory care services provided, including instruction for home care equipment andmedications.

  5. Assist with clinical instruction of respiratory care, nursing, medical students and residents, as needed. Actively participates in the orientation of new staff and contributes to the growth of others.

  6. Understands and acts in accordance with all Respiratory Care and Hospital Policies and Procedures for those areas assigned and is able to independently function in those areas.

  7. Completes accurate patient documentation, including billing and productivity standards. Participates in creating a plan of care, evaluate achievement of identified goals, record results and communicate pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by leadership within the scope of training and practice, including the ability to perform essential duties in other business units as part of a shared staffing plan, as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: A graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program and maintain credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • Skills: Must be able to input and retrieve computer information

  • License: Must be licensed to render respiratory care services by the respective state(s) of practice - Ohio and/or Michigan

  • Certification: Must hold current BLS certification. ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification is recommended, and may be required at some business units. Membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care and other professional organizations is encouraged.

Position Summary :

The Milk Technician will meet the nutritional needs of patients through safe preparation, storage and delivery of the infant feedings. Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares formula and human milk accurately according to established written formulations and processes

  • Follows pre-established preparation procedures and adheres to quality control standards

  • Operates all equipment needed to prepare feeding for infants in a safe and responsible manner

  • Labels and stores prepared formula and human milk properly

  • Delivers prepared formulas and human milk to patients room refrigerators daily

  • Maintains records of infant feeding inventory, preparation, and orders utilizing electronic medical record, barcoding and other systems as appropriate.
