Position Summary:

Coordinates the overall activities of patient care areas and hospital departments on the assigned shift. Provides resource assistance and guidance to nursing personal regarding patient care, established policies, procedures, and standards. Ascertains the need for, and adjusts the job assignments for nursing personnel ensuring that each assigned area has the resources necessary to maintain a safe patient care environment. The supervisor contacts the administrator on call for direction with critical problems or concerns.

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program plus current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Michigan. Must have Bachelor's degree or obtain degree within five years from date of hire.

Skills: The administrative and management skills necessary to coordinate and control the nursing services during the assigned shift and to administer hospital policies and procedures. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills in order to provide guidance and direction to subordinate nursing personnel regarding complex nursing treatments, development of nursing care plans and so forth; ability to interact with patients of all ages and patients' families.

Years of Experience: Three to five years of progressively more responsible nursing experience.

Certification: ACLS and NIMS certification required or completion is expected within 6 months from date of hire.

Position Summary :

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Physical Demands

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Reports for scheduled shifts on time and in a professional manner with regard to behavior, telephone courtesy, dress, identification, and communication with patients' colleagues, and outside agencies.

  2. Works closely with the provider and leadership to continually improve the patient experience though daily patient care, clerical support, ongoing projects and assumes additional duties as needed in a self-directed manner.

  3. Prepares the patient for the visit by taking vital signs, documenting and order entry within the EPIC system, arranging and coordinating support and ancillary services for patient care, preparing patient rooms for visits, stocking exam rooms, preparing schedules, and providing general support to the providers and patients. Performs specific specialized tests (i.e. pulmonary function tests, phlebotomy procedures) as needed.

  4. Provides for a safe patient experience through adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards and reports any potential equipment malfunctions or safety violations.

  5. May support a variety of clerical office functions including calls, documentation, scanning, etc.

  6. Within scope of Medical Assistant, demonstrates clinical knowledge and focuses on customer service to answer and triage patient telephone calls. Records complete and accurate messages and obtains necessary instructions from providers and nurses, etc. when appropriate.

  7. Supports internal and external customers, to maintain a superior customer experience across the continuum of care through teamwork. Communicates professionally with patients, providers, and co-workers at all times. Actively participates and is engaged in staff meetings.

Years of Experience: Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS OR meet an alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in 493.1489.

Certification: American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Respiratory Therapist will be competent to care for patients of all ages to include infants, children, adolescents, adult and geriatric population dependent on the area assigned. This individual performs the duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned, under minimal supervision from the Respiratory Care Department leadership team and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care. The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs these assigned duties and responsibilities according to regulatory standards, clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures approved by the Medical Directors and Administration. This individual will frequently make independent decisions regarding modification of therapy in accordance with clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Achieves and maintains a level of competency to perform prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice, as required per business unit, in accordance to departmental competency standards, which include general care, critical care, emergency care and diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to, the following: - General Care: patient identification and assessment, medical gas delivery, medication administration via nebulizers and MDI/DPI, bronchopulmonary hygiene and hyperinflation therapy - Critical Care: initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation; airway management and suction, including tracheostomy, endotracheal and pharyngeal; cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation and extubation; set-up, calibration, insertion (arterial lines) and maintenance of indwelling lines and catheters, and high risk newborn deliveries - Emergency Care: responds to rapid responses and emergency codes; performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and actively participates in patient stabilization, internal and external transports - Diagnostic Care: blood sampling and analysis, specimen collection, continuous and/or noninvasive monitoring, bedside pulmonary function screens, spontaneous breathing parameters and electrocardiograms (EKG) Note: critical tests and values will be reported in a timely manner per Hospital Policy.

  2. Safely assembles, operates and trouble shoots therapeutic and diagnostic equipment required for patient care, including but not limited to, the following: - Gas administration, monitoring and analyzing devices including flow meters and regulators, blenders, cylinders and bulk systems, compressors, analyzers, and pulse oximeters - Mechanical devices, including mechanical ventilators, manometers, gauges, spirometers and EKG machines. - Laboratory equipment for blood gas analysis - Age specific patient care equipment, including resuscitation equipment, oral and nasal airways, endotracheal and tracheal tubes - Equipment disinfection and sterilization

  3. Understands and applies Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines, to provide safe, highly efficient and cost effective care, using evidence based best practice.

  4. Provides educational needs of patients on disease specific process, tobacco cessation and respiratory care services provided, including instruction for home care equipment andmedications.

  5. Assist with clinical instruction of respiratory care, nursing, medical students and residents, as needed. Actively participates in the orientation of new staff and contributes to the growth of others.

  6. Understands and acts in accordance with all Respiratory Care and Hospital Policies and Procedures for those areas assigned and is able to independently function in those areas.

  7. Completes accurate patient documentation, including billing and productivity standards. Participates in creating a plan of care, evaluate achievement of identified goals, record results and communicate pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team

POSITION SUMMARY The Respiratory Care Assistant will be competent to care for patients of all ages to include infants, children, adolescents, adult and geriatric population, dependent on the area assigned. The Respiratory Care Assistant is able to perform the skills/procedures validated by an accredited respiratory care program and approved by the state issuing the limited practice license, required by the assignment with supervision, according to regulatory standards, clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures approved by the Medical Directors and Administration. This individual performs the duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned, under supervision from the Respiratory Care Department leadership team and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care. Standards of performance and skills for the areas to which the individual may be assigned must be maintained according to department policy. The individual must be committed to providing patients and families with a positive experience through compassionate care and excellent service, safely and efficiently. This individual will display professionalism at all times and maintain patient confidentiality.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Achieves and maintains a level of competency to perform prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice per business unit, in accordance to departmental competency standards, which include general care, critical care, emergency care, and diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to, the following: - General Care: patient identification and assessment, medical gas delivery, medication administration via nebulizers and MDI/DPI, bronchopulmonary hygiene, and hyperinflation therapy - Critical Care: initiation, management and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation; airway management and suction, including tracheostomy, endotracheal and pharyngeal; cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assist and extubation; set-up, calibration, and maintenance of arterial and central venous pressure lines - Emergency Care: responds to rapid responses and emergency codes, as required; performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and actively participates in patient stabilization and internal transports - Diagnostic Care: blood sampling and analysis, specimen collection, continuous and/or noninvasive monitoring, bedside pulmonary function screens, spontaneous breathing parameters, electrocardiograms (EKG) o Note: critical tests and values will be reported in a timely manner per Hospital Policy.

  2. Safely assembles, operates and trouble shoots therapeutic and diagnostic equipment required for patient care, including, but not limited to, the following: - Gas administration, monitoring and analyzing devices, including flow meters and regulators, blenders, cylinders and bulk systems, compressors, analyzers, and pulse oximeters - Mechanical devices, including mechanical ventilators, manometers, gauges, spirometers and EKG machines. - Age specific patient care equipment, including resuscitation equipment, oral and nasal airways, endotracheal and tracheal tubes - Equipment disinfection and sterilization

  3. Understands and applies Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines, to provide safe, highly efficient, and cost effective care, using evidence based best practice.

  4. Provide educational needs of patients on disease specific process, tobacco cessation and respiratory care services provided, including instruction for home care equipment and medications.

  5. Assist with clinical instruction of respiratory care, nursing, and medical students and residents, as needed. Actively participates in the orientation of new staff and contributes to the growth of others

  6. Understands and acts in accordance with all Respiratory Care and Hospital Policy and Procedures for those areas assigned and is able to with minimal supervision in those areas.

  7. Completes accurate patient documentation, including billing and productivity standards. Participates in creating a plan of care, evaluate achievement of identified goals, record results and communicate pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested, within the scope of training and educational documentation as per Limited Permit

  • Education: Must be actively enrolled and in good standing, or a recent graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program

  • Skills: Must be able to input and retrieve computer information

  • License: If working in an Ohio facility, a current Limited Permit License to render respiratory care services by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board in the State of Ohio. Membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care and other professional organizations is desired.

  • Certification: Must hold current BLS certification

Patient Population: Orthopedic Trauma patients from our Level 1 Trauma Center ER, Post-Orthopedic Surgeries (Joint Replacements, Fractures, Back Surgeries), Wound Vac, Hemovac, JP Drains, as well as patients with Drips (Insulin, Cardizem, and Heparin)

Specialized with: Traction set-up, Trapeze, set-up, Continuous Passive Motion Machines, and External Fixation Devices

Generations 7 acute care will offer a wide variety of experiences, as they receive patients with a wide range of diagnoses.

**We are working to become certified in Geriatric Hip Fractures.

Education and Experience

  • BSN Preferred

  • Current Ohio RN license

  • Current CPR / BLS

  • Specialty certifications as required

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Identifies problems, clarifies situation and refers such issues to the Lead Radiation Therapist who then reports to the Director of Radiation Oncology.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with established standards and practices.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Applies knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of patients, i.e. infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric. 2. Demonstrates competence, awareness of and sensitivity to the physical, emotional and socio-psychological needs of all patients. 3. Delivers prescribed dose and planned course of radiation therapy to patients, positions patients, answers questions and explains procedures. 4. Performs daily -time out- procedures. 5. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards. 6. Collaborates with physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff and physicians during treatment as well as coordinates support care services (social work, dietary, etc.). 7. Actively supports and participates in process improvement efforts and in team function/decisions. 8. Prepares treatment room and equipment for patients. 9. Other assigned duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy Skills: Proficient in core job functions Years of Experience: Internship completed, minimum 1 year as a working RT Ohio Radiologic License required to work in Ohio Certification: ARRT, CPR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's of Radiation Therapy Skills: Knowledge of Varian equipment/software, EPIC Years of Experience: 1+ year as a working RT

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Simulation experience would be desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Mask, non-sterile gloves, eye protection and lab coat. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, frequently lift/push/pull patients into position, prolonged standing/walking, must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Position Summary:

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Demonstrates proficiency in proper scrub technique and the handling of instruments, supplies and equipment for the assigned cases following department policies and procedures and job description. Demonstrates age related competency in the scrub role for the following age populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. 2. Utilizes preference lists, in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, departmental policies and procedures and the patient's age related needs in preparing for and carrying out case responsibilities. Shares responsibilities with the clinical nurse for keeping preference cards current. 3. Maintains integrity of the sterile field by utilizing aseptic techniques and observation of the surgical team. Promptly addresses any observed breaks in sterile technique. 4. Collaborates with the circulating nurse to effect accurate sponge, instrument and sharp counts as per departmental guideline. 5. Checks daily schedule to maintain proper supply of instruments, set-ups, and supplies specific to patient's age and physician preferences. Assists other personnel with procedures. 6. Participates in the process of orientation of new employees and students to the scrub role. Acts as a role model and resource person for staff and students. 7. Maintains certification according to professional requirements and presents proof of certification to the Service Coordinator. 8. Serves as a liaison between co-workers and other departments demonstrating good guest relations with physicians, patients, and other staff. Functions as a cooperative and supportive member of the surgery department staff. 9. Maintains understanding of departmental goals and objectives and works with co-workers and management to obtain goals and objectives. 10. Performs other duties as directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certification: CPR required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Years of Experience: Prior experience in a surgical setting preferred. Certification: Preferred Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) or certification from NCCT.

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to latex and latex products. Physical Demands: Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens. Must be able to tolerate exposure to blood Bourne pathogens and body fluids. Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry light to medium heavy to heavy weight objects and materials. Must be able to differentiate between colors, occasionally work at heights, and work with tools, manuals, and technical motors. Must be able to move about hospital facility and between workstations. The Rapid Response RN has advanced clinical expertise through education and experience. The rapid response RN assesses and stabilizes the patient condition. Rapid response RN collaborates with direct care givers to organized clinical information for communication to the patient's provider.

  1. Rounds on all patients transferred out of the ICU within the last 48 hours. 2. Rounds on all patients who are known to be clinically compromised. 3. Assists the staff member is assessing and stabilizing the patient's condition. 4. Assists the staff member in organizing clinical data to be communicated to the patient's provider. 5. Assists with patient transfer to a higher level of care.
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or be working towards a degree (must complete the degree within 5 years).
