ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Identifies problems, clarifies situation and refers such issues to the Lead Radiation Therapist who then reports to the Director of Radiation Oncology.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with established standards and practices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Applies knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of patients, i.e. infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric. 2. Demonstrates competence, awareness of and sensitivity to the physical, emotional and socio-psychological needs of all patients. 3. Delivers prescribed dose and planned course of radiation therapy to patients, positions patients, answers questions and explains procedures. 4. Performs daily -time out- procedures. 5. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards. 6. Collaborates with physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff and physicians during treatment as well as coordinates support care services (social work, dietary, etc.). 7. Actively supports and participates in process improvement efforts and in team function/decisions. 8. Prepares treatment room and equipment for patients. 9. Other assigned duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy Skills: Proficient in core job functions Years of Experience: Internship completed, minimum 1 year as a working RT Ohio Radiologic License required to work in Ohio Certification: ARRT, CPR
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's of Radiation Therapy Skills: Knowledge of Varian equipment/software, EPIC Years of Experience: 1+ year as a working RT
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Simulation experience would be desirable
WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Mask, non-sterile gloves, eye protection and lab coat. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, frequently lift/push/pull patients into position, prolonged standing/walking, must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure the requirements of this position can be fully met.
