Job Description

We are looking for a reliable Dispatcher to provide effective and efficient scheduling and routing of emergency and non-emergency work to field technicians. Provide excellent customer service with inbound customer inquiries as well as outbound follow-up calls. Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive customer experience while running an efficient operation providing best in class service. The Dispatcher is responsible for setting up the technician's workload assignments, monitoring those assignments, and supporting the Field Technicians and the Call Centers. Must be able to respond to inquiries quickly and accurately to best utilize resources.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors emergency and non-emergency orders to ensure orders are routed and completed by the appointed time including emergency locates.

  • Routes filler work to field service personnel by dispatching work orders via Mobile Data and/or Radio; by date and compliance deadline.

  • Evaluates field service routes; provides optimized routes for various field service personnel; adjusts field service personnel allocations based on quantity and severity of workload, and availability of resources.

  • Monitors field personnel efficiency throughout the day and makes recommendations to Resource Management Supervision based on findings.

  • Assigns, dispatches, and tracks emergency orders to ensure compliance to standards.

  • Gathers information for Pre-Notice of Incident (NOI) Reports; routes to Public Service Commission (PSC), Utility Protection Center (UPC), Community Affairs and Safety, Security & Corporate Compliance, STS).

  • Assists Sr. Dispatcher during mass outages to obtain information and coordinate activities of field service personnel.

  • Complete the 2pm route review to determine the need for overtime to complete remaining workload and report findings to the service center Point of Contact.

  • Verifies completion of previous day's orders; investigates and takes action on incomplete orders.

  • Assists field service personnel (e.g., checks account histories, meter status, premise conditions, appliance type and quantity, Meter Order Field Reading (MOFR), Shut Off for Non-Payment (SONP) orders, pending, why-noted orders).

  • Assists Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) with Estimated Time of Arrivals (ETAs) and technical questions; interprets codes and clarifies field service personnel comments.

  • Understand the basics fundamentals of Sentinel and the forecasting model.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

- Required BS/BA or Equivalent work experience

- Minimum of 6 months dispatching/scheduling experience

SKILLS:

Required:

- MS Word, Excel - intermediate proficiency.

- MS Access, Outlook - basic proficiency.

- Influencing.

- Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan.

- Problem Solving.

Preferred:

- Spanish - fluent.

Summary of Duties

The West Physical Security Operations Center (WPSOC) Security Officer position ensures security of APC Corporate Headquarters, associated facilities, critical systems, equipment, operations, and persons. Operate multiple electronic security systems. Enforce company policies and criminal laws. Control access to company property, respond to requests for security services and alarms, coordinate the activities of public safety, medical, and other personnel during emergency situations. Direct and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Conduct preliminary investigation of security violations and prepare detailed reports. Assess current physical security, security systems, policies, post orders, and make recommendations for enhancements.

The successful candidate will be part of a well-trained security organization charged with ensuring safety of personnel and the security of the Bulk Electric System (BES) throughout the Southeast. The high security environment requires an elevated standard of mental and physical readiness in order to successfully deter and defeat the physical threats against both the BES and personnel at Southern Company and affiliate companies responsible for the critical operation of the system.

Armed security officers work in high security facilities requiring strict access control and elevated security procedures protecting the BES assets and personnel. This includes work for Southern Company's Corporate Security Department in security operations centers, generating plants, and other work locations group for current and future NERC CIP related Physical Security Perimeters (PSPs). This position will perform intrusion alarm, video surveillance and access control monitoring and response to PSP events across the enterprise by participating as part of a team of 24 X 7 personnel that have been trained and/or are experienced in the NERC CIP Standards and compliance requirements.

Specifically, this position will staff the (WPSOC) as well as provide armed security protection to respective locations. They will also perform all the functions, to agreed levels, within it including video surveillance, intrusion alarm, access control and telephonic and radio systems, including the following:

  • Monitors and responds to a variety of video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarms at NERC CIP PSPs

  • Determine response requirements and relative priorities of incidents/alarms, record responses in the appropriate format, conduct preliminary PSP alarm investigations, write concise and accurate incident reports as necessary, immediately report violations and handle access control issues

  • Dispatch in accordance with established procedures and help coordinate situations with the WPSOC Supervisor

  • Maintain relevant knowledge of policies, procedures, and strategies to promote compliance

  • Maintain required internal certifications related to direct knowledge of NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards

Performs installations and programming of ERTs. Performs basic tasks including using hand tools, corrosion inspections, meter paints, reading meters (manually and electronically). This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 1997).

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Downloads meter reading route(s) daily; enters route information into electronic data collection units in vehicle; drives route and collects data from Encoder Receiver Transmitter (ERTs) mounted on customers' meters; uploads data at end of the route.

  • Maintains and regularly updates electronic equipment (handhelds, Mobile Collectors, and etc.) to ensure accurate readings.

  • Troubleshoots ERT problems and Missed Meters: inspects, reprograms, repairs, maintains, removes, reinstalls ERTs and indexes. Enters change data into Meter History System (MHS), and Georgia Customer Management Application (GCMA).

  • Efficiently works work-order route to complete orders in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures.

  • Conducts investigations of high bill complaints, stop meters, and special reading by meter reading validation.

  • Performs regular meter inspections and paints

  • Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools, and other equipment in a neat and orderly condition.

  • Observes all safety equipment and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.

  • Safely operations company assigned vehicles in performance of assignments.

  • Occasional face-to-face interaction with customers via phone to obtain information and answer questions.

  • Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route, converts non-ERT meters to ERT system, updates systems and corrects problems.

  • Perform other duties and assigned on occasion

  • High School diploma or GED is required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree or similar military training is a plus.

  • Five (5) years maintenance (I&C or Mechanical) experience in power plant or heavy industrial environment or military equivalent is required.

Description for Internal Candidates

Successful candidates must reside or be willing to relocate at their own expense to live within 30 minutes of headquarters. Position will be filled as an Apprentice Lineman or Lineman depending on the qualifications, experience and skills of the successful candidate. This position will report to Hattiesburg, MS.

This position will be covered by the Memorandum of Agreement between Mississippi Power and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

Job Summary

This position will be filled as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman depending on the applicant's qualifications. This position is responsible for working in a line crew on overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution systems. This position is responsible for responding to and correcting problems with the electrical distribution system during normal working hours, after hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibilities

Candidate must safely perform any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This position builds, maintains, inspects, trouble-shoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. Successful candidate will review work orders and determine material needed to complete jobs; along with being able to safely load wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks. Candidate is responsible for using hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems. This position frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment. Successful candidate must climb utility poles and other structures. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools/trucks. Successful candidate must maintain regular attendance and comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel in the normal course of duties. If this position is filled as an apprentice, the applicant will complete a prescribed Journeyman Development Program.

Job Requirements

  • Must pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered

  • Must currently have or possess the ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment

  • Must maintain weight to comply with equipment manufacturer's restrictions

  • Must be available for call out overtime work, scheduled overtime work, and overnight travel as needed

  • Availability for timely response to call outs are required

  • The successful applicant must currently live within or be willing to relocate to within a 30 minute commute from the assigned headquarters office. No relocation assistance available.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Candidates should have a comprehensive knowledge of customer relation skills and the ability to think clearly and make logical decisions under pressure.

  • Average or above average computer skills are desired.

  • Working knowledge of electricity and the maintenance of electrical lines is necessary.

  • Ability to operate machinery and vehicles, use basic hand tools, the ability to work at heights, climb tall structures, read blueprints, lift, carry and pull heavy objects.

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and work in enclosed, dark areas

  • Work methods must adhere to all safe work practices and must possess the ability to build solid interpersonal relationships with other employees

Other Requirements

In order for the applicant to be hired as a journeyman lineman, 5 years distribution line crew experience is preferred.
