You will need to orchestrate territory coverage through effective collaboration, leadership, and coaching of internal team/specialists and external partners on how to position and close VMware opportunities. You will work closely with top Partner Executives/Sellers across the U.S. including leading VARs, Distributors, Corporate Resellers, OEMs, and Cloud/Hosting Partners.
You will be expected to support Partners in negotiating large deals with deeply complex terms, conditions, prices pressures and considerations. This will require you to be capable of accurately assessing general contract terms, customer requirements, and product capabilities to ensure VMware is chosen as the preferred vendor.
5-8 years of Selling Enterprise Software is required
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Travel 30-50% of the time meeting with and presenting to current and prospective customers and for internal and customer events/meetings.
Increase customer spending through 'Whitespace' and 'Wallet share' selling motions in assigned geographies.
Support and provide guidance to both field and partner marketing events
Coordination within an internal set of multi-functional teams such as Systems Engineers, Product Specialists, Inside Reps, Field Marketing, Professional Services, and Channel Management and external partners as described previously.
Accurately forecast license bookings, specific products revenue, PSO bookings and new accounts on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis via Salesforce.com

This role will be part of the Public Sector CSM Organization within the Modern Applications and Management business group. Members will work with their counterparts in the Federal Intelligence Community region.
The team is distributed across the United States and we are in an exciting phase of growth and development with many exciting opportunities ahead. The majority of the team works remotely from home, with access to offices in primary VMware locations when required. Solutions Architect - VMware App Navigator
Digital transformation is a phrase overused to describe a complex array of initiatives and programs. Modernization across the application portfolio is essential, yet many IT organizations struggle to get traction, quantify outcomes and deliver at scale. Your opportunity on this team is to collaborate with customers who face these challenges, and work closely with our amazingly talented Solution Architects, to cut through ambiguity, plan roadmaps, measure and prove value during short yet impactful consulting engagements. The process relies on your creativity to gather needed information, draw business insights, and turn those insights into cohesive and flexible strategies that meet evolving customer expectations. Short (hours, days or a handful of weeks) engagements mean an exciting, fast-paced set of conversations where you will uplevel your people and process management skills while sharpening your storytelling capacities. Short engagements also means a lot of iteration - a unique opportunity to practice your craft, help shape our team's template for success, and develop your eye for patterns in the industry.
Success in the Role: What performance outcomes will you be working toward over the first 6-12 months?
You'll work by pairing with customers and your VMware colleagues to understand the current application landscape, build data-driven decision models tuned to their specific goals, and be hands-on to help prove it all.
You'll work closely with your peers right from the start to understand and iterate on our practices to make them more impactful, repeatable, and scalable as our team grows.
Within 30 days you'll understand the VMware and related platforms and products used by our customers.
Within two months, you'll join a team of Program Strategists and other Solutions Architects on a customer engagement. You'll interview customer engineers, run automated analysis tools, and help the team make decisions based on the data you collect. You'll get -hands on- with existing source code to improve it and/or modernize it in order to prove the value of our software and solutions.
Within three months, you'll be leading workshops and other discovery practices on customer engagements, and helping new team members understand and apply those practices.
As a rapidly-growing team, we expect that within the first year you'll have opportunities to work with teams across VMware to find new ways to help drive customer success on our platforms through application modernization.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
While every customer engagement is different, you can expect a variety of the following:
Be part of short and impactful projects - from a few hours to six weeks (at most) - focused on helping customers determine and prove first viable steps in complex scenarios.
Lead internal initiatives that improve our delivery tooling and methodologies.
Lead workshops using Domain Driven Design, agile and lean techniques to understand system design and plan future state architectures.
Build and test microservices in Spring and Java (preferred) or Steeltoe and .NET core, and work hands-on (typically in a proof of value context) using customer codebases in a variety of languages, technologies, and frameworks.
Write documentation and playbooks capturing concrete tactical patterns for modernizing large complex software systems that involve many teams, technologies, and platforms.
Enable customer teams to continue their modernization journey across their portfolio of applications in a sustainable way after our engagement is over.
Contribute back to the VMware team through mentorship, giving talks, and experience reports.

Today the job is fully remote, and it's hard to accurately predict what the future may hold.
We prioritize project staffing based on requirements, skill, and location. We believe the fastest way to build customer rapport and authentic relationships is in person. When we kickoff a project in person, working remotely with -new friends- is much easier, leading to happier and more productive remote days. Once the pandemic is behind us, we expect this mode of occasional travel (10-20% overall) to start and close a project will be commonplace. Having flexibility to accommodate this reality is important.

Job requirements are as follows:
5+ years experience in product marketing or alliance marketing at a leading enterprise infrastructure, software or cloud technology firm. Enterprise IT or similar data center experience preferred.
Domain experience in software defined infrastructure, cloud native applications, hyperconverged infrastructure or enterprise IT with a background in the hybrid cloud space.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to create compelling product messaging and translate technology features into business benefits.
Demonstrated aptitude for quickly coming up to speed on new technology concepts and leveraging them to develop innovative solutions.
