Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
As an Inside Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading consulting projects to meet customer requirements and business metrics.
We use standard project management techniques and processes to lead project activities, schedules, resourcing, costs, and technical solutions to achieve customer and VMware outcomes.
Key performance outcomes include:
Project Planning - high-level plan development, integration to portfolio governance process
Scope Management - initiation, scope planning, scope definition, scope verification, scope change control
Time Management - activity definition, sequencing, and duration estimating; schedule development and control
Risk Management - risk identification, quantification, response development, and response control
Quality Management - quality planning, assurance, and control
Communications Management - planning, information distribution, performance reporting, administrative closure
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
The primary responsibilities of the Inside Project Manager are:
Schedule and host meetings (calls) with customers, VMware sales teams, the delivery practice, and other project stakeholders
Establish rapport with customers and set expectations for the project
Coordinate project resource needs and logistics, including travel arrangements, facility access, and work schedules
Oversee project time approvals in ChangePoint
Handle project escalations and ensure high customer satisfaction
Forecast project revenue and margin
Complete project status reports
An ideal candidate for this position would possess:
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Interest in and/or experience using formal project management tools (e.g., MS-Project, Visio, etc.)
Strong analytical as well as interpersonal skills with an ability to handle challenging customer demands
Ability to work within a team and provide the leadership for the professional services engagement
Self-motivated and able to deliver high-quality deliverables
Ability to run and shift priorities quickly and effectively when needed
Strong verbal and written communications skills

Where is this role located?
This role can be performed remotely; however, most federal customers are located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
