The Container Build area is focused enabling developers to need nothing more than their source code to containerize their app and dev opts teams to maintain a fleet of containers and keep them patched with minimal toil. You will play a pivotal role by working on Tanzu Build Service (TBS), a Kubernetes native tool to orchestrate container image builds using Cloud Native Buildpacks. Building source code into an image is a foundational requirement for migrating apps to Kubernetes. As such, it is a ubiquitous problem rich with user feedback, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? In this role, you will be responsible for...

  • The Tanzu Build Service roadmap.

  • Being able to process problems with the build experience in Tanzu Application Platform, work through solutions with cross functional teams, and oversee execution.

  • Representing the VMware build program in front of customers and open source communities.

  • Managing tradeoffs between priorities for work on enabling the One Tanzu vision, kpack (open source TBS).

  • Taking on pricing and packaging work to come up with an effective plan to align TBS with a new OneTanzu SKU.

  • Making sure TBS workflows are better represented in GUIs.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? Product duties:

  • You will serve as point of contact and subject matter expert for Build Service when it is used standalone or in other Tanzu solutions.

  • You will forge closer ties between TBS and security areas of OneTanz to provide better insight to customers how TBS can improve their security posture.

  • You will talk with customers on a weekly if not multiple times a week basis, organize their feedback, share it, prioritize it, and turn it into tangible work items.

  • You will partner with engineering to deliver iterative product releases. You will be engineering's connection to our customers and will be responsible for bringing them along for the ride.

  • You'll create solutions that scale to meet the needs of the world's biggest enterprises.

Technical - this role involves working and understanding the following technologies and services.

  • Kubernetes - TBS is a Kubernetes native product. Its use frequently involves interacting directly with the Kubernetes API.

The core of the TBS team has been humming for years, you will be joining experienced engineers who are self-starting, engaged, and passionate about the product they've built. You will be joining a large and fluid PM org.   • As a Sr. Digital Customer Success Manager, you will be responsible in delivering a digital customer success journey to Carbon Black customers.   • Identify trends in risks and blockers to product consumption / adoption, define and executes remediation plays.

  • Become a VMware Security subject matter expert.

We need someone who is excited about solving design challenges to join the Tanzu Developer Application Platform (DAP) team. Our teams design and build technologies that help enterprise developers build great software with a modern supply chain and get it to production faster and more often. We are responsible for development and delivery of tools, frameworks, products, and communities that support the needs of enterprise application builders and operators.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

You will help shape the team's roadmap and goals by providing input from a user's perspective. Within the first 6 months you will:

  • Meet your immediate team and cross-functional partners; get familiar with the tools and processes the design org and Tanzu team leverages in our day-to-day operations.

  • Learn the VMware vision, strategy, Tanzu portfolio and DAP (Developer and Application Platform) programs.

  • Dig deeper into the specific product your immediate team focuses on and how it connects to the rest of the VMware ecosystem.

After 6 months+, you will:

  • Lead the design process for your program area and collaborate with other designers and product teams to drive product roadmap and UX strategy.

  • Bring the voice of design to cross-functional team conversations and build trust between the design, product and engineering teams.

  • Facilitate co-creation design workshops with the design team and cross-disciplinary partners to drive team alignment.

  • Have formed strong partnerships with product managers, engineers, and designers.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You'll be responsible for driving the end to end user experience for your program area and owning the quality of design outcomes. You'll spend your time doing hands-on design planning, providing feedback, inspiring the design team, and engaging in strategic conversations.

As part of the team, you will

  • Craft user-centered artifacts and end-to-end journeys to align teams contributing to Tanzu around the broader user experience

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management and other stakeholders to understand business priorities, user needs and technical feasibility.

  • Design and facilitate co-creation design workshops with the design team and cross-disciplinary partners.

  • Continuously learn from our customers and users through generative and evaluative research, and educate your product team on research practices & UX interview techniques; research and synthesize user needs to help conceive, define, test and evolve solutions for our users across a range of mediums and experiences.

  • Guide cross-functional partners and designers through problem discovery and solution framing using user-centered design methods

  • Communicate proposed solutions using design artifacts spanning multiple interfaces including command line, API, and/or web browser

This role will be reporting to a design manager on the Tanzu Developer and Application Platform (DAP) team. The design team consists of highly competent designers, geographically distributed across the US and Canada. The team culture is one based on respect, kindness and open communication. Where is this role located?

This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.

For US based candidates, the annual pay range (OTE for commissioned roles; Salary for other roles) for this position is: $111,000 - $266,000. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
