The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Operations and Risk Director to support the USAA Educational Foundation.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
The Operations and Risk Director will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Foundation to include coordination across USAA functions via a support services agreement and various 3P vendors that assist the team in operations and content creation. Additionally, they will lead the first line of defense risk program with reporting up to the USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) and USAA Foundation (USAAF) Board of Directors. Manage and drive the operational planning across the team and enabling dynamic planning through an integrated IT (e.g., SalesForce) solution. Lead the operations of the USAAEF and USAAF Board of Directors while serving as the management lead for the Governance, Risk and Audit Committee of both Foundations.
What you'll do:
Provides support and direction to team members and functional partners with identifying and solving identified opportunities, resolving gaps as they are identified, and updating reporting metrics.
Assists and mentors team members and project managers in developing problem solving approach, identifying gaps, and determining optimal way to aggregate and communicate findings.
Manages broad functional projects and/or participates as a SME resource on larger initiatives to support business requirements, specifically focused on strategic and operational planning and risk programs.
Represents the business or staff agency as the subject matter expert and may be a proxy for executive leadership.
Maintains broad system knowledge, stays current on all system enhancements, identifies training needs, and implements plans.
Gathers information, analyzes data and trends to identify and implement business optimization opportunities and insights on Foundation mission fulfilment.
Supports the team with assigned analysis, contributes to leading discussions of strategic options and recommendations for the Foundation.
Directs and oversees multiple initiatives in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives including but not limited to: oversight of procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, CoSA Third Party Governance, or quality governance.
Responsible for first line of defense data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, utilizing business intelligence tools up to the Foundation President, the Governance Risk and Audit chair and the Foundation Board of Directors.
Influences and develops innovative solutions to mitigate risk and prevent risk exposures which result in significant business impacts.
Stays informed of changes to the regulatory environment to ensure proper compliance with processes and requirements are followed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
8 years of progressive experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.
8 years of experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Previous leadership experience with Risk/Compliance programs.
4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including: requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics, or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives and optimization of business operations.
Knowledge of business operations and systems/business requirements processes.
Experience facilitating and driving collaboration to common understanding of business requirements and driving standard enterprise-wide business processes.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

The Opportunity

Serves as a direct representative of the business on an agile team. Attains, understands, and communicates business vision and needs to write and refine user stories/features/epics, prioritize work, and provide mentorship to technical teams across programs/portfolios. Uses critical thinking, problem solving, and Agile principles to partner with business owners, subject matter experts, and the development team to build effective solutions. Possesses an expert knowledge and understanding of and ability to work within multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile and other approaches, to deliver business value.
What you'll do:
Works with business and Subject Matter Experts to understand business strategy and vision and then writes, refines, accepts, and prioritizes stories, features or epics to support effective and compliant solutions while balancing investment and business value.
Owns and maintains a prioritized work backlog for a single or multiple Agile teams or program. Product backlog includes complete user stories or features with acceptance criteria so that they are consumable and testable by the Agile team or program. Reviews and accepts output of I/T and/or business development to ensure specified acceptance criteria have been completed.
Serves as a knowledgeable collaborator across multiple business or system domains; is encouraged to lead development across multiple teams at the program and Epic level.
Serves as direct representative of the business with one or more delivery teams throughout the product delivery cycle.
Participates in a cross-functional team of user experience partners, designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to develop, execute, solution and release in alignment with program, portfolio, or product road maps.
Partners with sponsors, stakeholders, and IT to facilitate, define and detail relevant business processes, gaining an expert understanding of the needs, measures, and risks & controls for the improvement area.
Participates with portfolio, program and project level plans related to schedule, scope and resources.
Prepares the business for the change and provides tactics and metrics for benefits, adoption, and risk. Leverages existing change management routines, as needed.
Applies expert knowledge in the business development/execution discipline, regularly seeking out opportunities to enhance, improve and advance the function.
Coaches and mentors less experienced Product Owners, including Seniors.
Demonstrates expert knowledge in multiple business or system domains and capable of leading development across multiple teams at the program level.
Identifies, engages, influences, and leads business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts across programs.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
8 years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis or directly related to supported business operations/product line.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products, applicable databases, and product management tools.
Expert knowledge of multiple technical software delivery methodologies (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, SAFe) with a proven track record in using these skills to develop and manage products through the entire product life cycle.
Expert experience in analyzing business requirements, process flows and use cases to identify opportunities to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.
Expert understanding and demonstrated use of Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices to translate business requirements into functional specifications.
Expert ability to independently work to gather business requirements, process flows and use cases to develop and deliver on business capabilities within the approved methodology, writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance.
Advanced experience in analyzing and translating business requirements and the ability to identify opportunities to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity
This executive role oversees the identification and development of business analytics programs in line with overall company goals and principles. Responsible for strategies that deliver compliant data and information solutions that lead to improvement and optimization in business performance and risk minimization. Works in collaboration with other business leaders to drive decisions based on data, facts, and analytical findings across different parts of the organization.
What you'll do:
Accountable for strategic, tactical, operational, and financial responsibilities associated with data storage, data preparation, data exploration, information governance, analytics, and information delivery.
Accountable for defining and developing business data & analytics strategy to enable achievement of business goals and objectives.
Collaborate with company and staff agency data and analytics leaders to identify and deliver actionable insights and products to further USAA's business strategy.
Provide data & analytics products using Agile methodologies to enable fact based, enterprise decisions that drive the achievement of USAA's mission and goals.
May be assigned by the Chief Data & Analytics Officer, to chair high-level cross-business teams to identify strategy synergies and translating these insights into actionable, compliant deployments.
Provide strategic direction and thought leadership to the Data and Analytics Community across USAA.
Keep current of industry leading practices and advances in across all data & analytics sub-functions as well as the business associated with the assigned line of business.

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our Phoenix office for future Entry Level Claims Adjuster opportunities in 2024 . Work schedules will vary and may include some weekends. As an Associate Auto Claims Adjuster your work will focus on adjusting non-injury auto claims. You'll work under supervision to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and adjust low complexity auto insurance claims presented by or against our members. This will include the end-to-end claims process and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations. In this role, you will make a difference to our members as you deliver best in class customer service through setting appropriate expectations, proactively communicating and providing advice to deliver appropriate solutions to the member.
What you'll do:
Acquire and apply basic knowledge of auto coverages, auto physical damage, and liability, in order to evaluate and settle high volume and low complexity auto claims such as; simple comprehensive and collision (i.e., single vehicle, parked and unoccupied, clear liability), glass, roadside, and rental vehicle coverages for repairable vehicles.
Resolve claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under direct supervision, while overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.
Clearly document thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
Collaborate and set expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
Support members, business partners, and claimants, through use of varying communication channels to include utilization of digital tools to drive timely and effective resolutions through exceptional service.

The Opportunity
As a dedicated Senior Property Adjuster, you will work within established guidelines and framework to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. You will confirm and analyze coverage, recognize liability exposure and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with all state regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong virtual estimating skills for moderate to large severity losses and/or reconcile estimates while working in a telephone concentrated environment without physical inspection of loss.
This hybrid role requires an individual to be in the office 3 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA, and Phoenix, AZ. Typical work schedules are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (local time) Monday to Friday and may include some weekends. The Inside Property Adjuster role is a call center environment with a high volume of calls. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with paid overtime available. We have new training classes starting every month. Relocation assistance is not available.
What you'll do:
Proactively manages assigned claims caseload comprised of claims with moderate complexity damages that require commensurate knowledge and understanding of claims coverage.
Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate moderate complexity claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.
Investigates claim damages by conducting research from various sources, including the insured, third parties, and external resources. May identify and resolve potential discrepancies and identifies subrogation potential resulting from unusual characteristics.
Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate. Determines coverage through analyzing investigation information involving moderate complexity policy terms and contingencies.
Determines and negotiates moderate complexity claims settlement. Develops recommendations and collaborates with management for determining settlement amounts outside of authority limits and accurately manages claims outcomes.
Maintains accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process.
Applies proficient knowledge of estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools; Utilizes platforms and tools to prepare claims estimates to manage moderate complexity property insurance claims.
Applies working knowledge of industry standards of inspection, damage mitigation and restoration techniques.
Serves as an informal resource for team members.
Recognizes and addresses jurisdictional challenges such as applicable legislation and construction considerations.
Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures..
What you have:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
2 years relevant property adjusting and/or claims adjusting experience handling moderately complex claims or construction related industry/insurance experience.
Developing knowledge of residential construction.
Working knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms.
Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Working knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations.
Proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking, including navigating through multiple business applications.
May need to travel up to 50% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed.
Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.
Physical Demand Requirements:
May require the ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, to include attics and go beneath homes into crawl spaces.
May need to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver's license.
May require the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds to include lifting a ladder in and out of the trunk of a car.
May require the ability to climb ladders and traverse roofs, this includes the ability to work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics.

The Operations and Risk Director will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Foundation to include coordination across USAA functions via a support services agreement and various 3P vendors that assist the team in operations and content creation. The Opportunity

Manages and analyzes information using a variety of techniques and tools, supports data management efforts with business owners and technical teams to manage and analyze information and data including master and reference data in adherence to USAA internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations. The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Operations and Risk Director to support the USAA Educational Foundation.

The Operations and Risk Director will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Foundation to include coordination across USAA functions via a support services agreement and various 3P vendors that assist the team in operations and content creation. Additionally, they will lead the first line of defense risk program with reporting up to the USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) and USAA Foundation (USAAF) Board of Directors. Manage and drive the operational planning across the team and enabling dynamic planning through an integrated IT (e.g., SalesForce) solution. Lead the operations of the USAAEF and USAAF Board of Directors while serving as the management lead for the Governance, Risk and Audit Committee of both Foundations.

Assists and mentors team members and project managers in developing problem solving approach, identifying gaps, and determining optimal way to aggregate and communicate findings.
Manages broad functional projects and/or participates as a SME resource on larger initiatives to support business requirements, specifically focused on strategic and operational planning and risk programs.
Represents the business or staff agency as the subject matter expert and may be a proxy for executive leadership.
Maintains broad system knowledge, stays current on all system enhancements, identifies training needs, and implements plans.
Gathers information, analyzes data and trends to identify and implement business optimization opportunities and insights on Foundation mission fulfilment.
Supports the team with assigned analysis, contributes to leading discussions of strategic options and recommendations for the Foundation.
Directs and oversees multiple initiatives in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives including but not limited to: oversight of procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, CoSA Third Party Governance, or quality governance.
Responsible for first line of defense data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, utilizing business intelligence tools up to the Foundation President, the Governance Risk and Audit chair and the Foundation Board of Directors.
Influences and develops innovative solutions to mitigate risk and prevent risk exposures which result in significant business impacts.
Stays informed of changes to the regulatory environment to ensure proper compliance with processes and requirements are followed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
8 years of progressive experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.

The Opportunity
As a dedicated Senior Property Adjuster, you will work within established guidelines and framework to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. You will confirm and analyze coverage, recognize liability exposure and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with all state regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong virtual estimating skills for moderate to large severity losses and/or reconcile estimates while working in a telephone concentrated environment without physical inspection of loss.
This hybrid role requires an individual to be in the office 3 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA, and Phoenix, AZ. Typical work schedules are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (local time) Monday to Friday and may include some weekends. The Inside Property Adjuster role is a call center environment with a high volume of calls. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with paid overtime available. We have new training classes starting every month. Relocation assistance is not available.
What you'll do:
Proactively manages assigned claims caseload comprised of claims with moderate complexity damages that require commensurate knowledge and understanding of claims coverage.
Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate moderate complexity claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.
Investigates claim damages by conducting research from various sources, including the insured, third parties, and external resources. May identify and resolve potential discrepancies and identifies subrogation potential resulting from unusual characteristics.
Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate. Determines coverage through analyzing investigation information involving moderate complexity policy terms and contingencies.
Determines and negotiates moderate complexity claims settlement. Develops recommendations and collaborates with management for determining settlement amounts outside of authority limits and accurately manages claims outcomes.
Maintains accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process.
Applies proficient knowledge of estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools; Utilizes platforms and tools to prepare claims estimates to manage moderate complexity property insurance claims.
Applies working knowledge of industry standards of inspection, damage mitigation and restoration techniques.
Serves as an informal resource for team members.
Recognizes and addresses jurisdictional challenges such as applicable legislation and construction considerations.
Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures..
What you have:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
2 years relevant property adjusting and/or claims adjusting experience handling moderately complex claims or construction related industry/insurance experience.
Developing knowledge of residential construction.
Working knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms.
Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Working knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations.
Proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking, including navigating through multiple business applications.
May need to travel up to 50% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed.
Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.
Physical Demand Requirements:
May require the ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, to include attics and go beneath homes into crawl spaces.
May need to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver's license.
May require the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds to include lifting a ladder in and out of the trunk of a car.
May require the ability to climb ladders and traverse roofs, this includes the ability to work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Operations and Risk Director to support the USAA Educational Foundation.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
The Operations and Risk Director will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Foundation to include coordination across USAA functions via a support services agreement and various 3P vendors that assist the team in operations and content creation. Additionally, they will lead the first line of defense risk program with reporting up to the USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) and USAA Foundation (USAAF) Board of Directors. Manage and drive the operational planning across the team and enabling dynamic planning through an integrated IT (e.g., SalesForce) solution. Lead the operations of the USAAEF and USAAF Board of Directors while serving as the management lead for the Governance, Risk and Audit Committee of both Foundations.
What you'll do:
Provides support and direction to team members and functional partners with identifying and solving identified opportunities, resolving gaps as they are identified, and updating reporting metrics.
Assists and mentors team members and project managers in developing problem solving approach, identifying gaps, and determining optimal way to aggregate and communicate findings.
Manages broad functional projects and/or participates as a SME resource on larger initiatives to support business requirements, specifically focused on strategic and operational planning and risk programs.
Represents the business or staff agency as the subject matter expert and may be a proxy for executive leadership.
Maintains broad system knowledge, stays current on all system enhancements, identifies training needs, and implements plans.
Gathers information, analyzes data and trends to identify and implement business optimization opportunities and insights on Foundation mission fulfilment.
Supports the team with assigned analysis, contributes to leading discussions of strategic options and recommendations for the Foundation.
Directs and oversees multiple initiatives in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives including but not limited to: oversight of procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, CoSA Third Party Governance, or quality governance.
Responsible for first line of defense data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, utilizing business intelligence tools up to the Foundation President, the Governance Risk and Audit chair and the Foundation Board of Directors.
Influences and develops innovative solutions to mitigate risk and prevent risk exposures which result in significant business impacts.
Stays informed of changes to the regulatory environment to ensure proper compliance with processes and requirements are followed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
8 years of progressive experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.
8 years of experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Previous leadership experience with Risk/Compliance programs.
4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including: requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics, or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives and optimization of business operations.
Knowledge of business operations and systems/business requirements processes.
Experience facilitating and driving collaboration to common understanding of business requirements and driving standard enterprise-wide business processes.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
