The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director, P&C Pricing Actuary, you will be leading a Property Pricing team focused on countrywide indications and leading, planning, and forecasting activities for homeowners pricing, including analytics related to premium and loss trends. You may also be involved in planning, organizing, directing, and staffing actuarial activities required to analyze and achieve target pricing levels. This leader may also develop new products or rating structures, actuarial information and application requirements while balancing market and financial goals.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Oversee the development of product line pricing assumptions and price structure while ensuring price level objectives are met.

  • Direct the development of new products and implementation of process improvements.

  • Provide short and long-term planning recommendations for unit objectives by developing and analyzing forecasts.

  • Manage and is accountable for the work of assigned employees.

  • Perform personnel management functions, including employee selection, team building, project/workload assignment, employee training, monitoring of work activity and performance evaluation.

  • Ensure that product prices and designs are congruent with the company's product strategy and goals.

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of products and projects.

  • Monitor competitive market, industry trends, and professional research to maintain knowledge of current activities related to products, regulations, market conditions, and innovative alternatives to achieve financial and market goals.

  • Represent USAA's interest at industry level committee meetings.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 or more years relevant experience.

  • 3 or more years of direct team lead or management experience required.

  • Five (5) exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

  • Experience leading teams through effective collaboration, communication, learning, and mentorship

  • A passion for leading through the development and execution of creative, innovative actuarial work

  • Strong experience translating detailed analytics into manageable visualizations and communicating/presenting the results concisely to executive leadership

  • Experience working on multiple projects, managing competing priorities, and prioritizing workflow through strong partnerships with business partners

  • Working knowledge of data analytic tools and Python/R/SQL or other language and a high level of ability to direct others in their use of these tools

  • Expert problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytic skills

  • Expert understanding of Personal Lines pricing, with experience using a variety of methodologies, tools, and models

  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society designation obtained

  • Experience with planning and forecasting and communicating findings and results with senior leadership teams.

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Decision Science Analyst Senior for Brand Marketing. In this role you will help provide decision support for business areas across the enterprise. Staff in this area will be responsible for applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change. The essence of work performed by the Decision Science Analyst involves gathering, manipulating, and synthesizing data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), models and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio TX, Plano TX, Charlotte NC, Tampa FL, Phoenix AZ, or Colorado Springs CO.

What you'll do:

  • Leverages advanced business, analytical and technical knowledge to participate or lead discussions with cross functional teams to understand and collaborate highly complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.

  • Applies advanced analytical techniques to solve business problems that are typically medium to large scale with significant impact to current and/or future business strategy.

  • Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer the business objective and drive the appropriate change.

  • Translates recommendation into communication materials to effectively present to various levels of management.

  • Incorporates visualization techniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and ease the understanding for less technical audiences.

  • Identifies and gathers the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis (EDA).

  • Integrates/transforms disparate data sources and determines the appropriate data hygiene techniques to apply.

  • Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews and compliance requirements.

  • Understands and adopts emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies and/or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions.

  • Succinctly delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences various levels of management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.

  • Provides subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations.

  • Remains informed on current data and analytics trends, (Ex: Cloud, Data Mining, Python, Neural Networks, Sensor data, IoT, Streaming/NRT data)

  • Identifies opportunities to continue to learn in the data and analytics space, whether informal (E.g., Coursera, Udemy, Kaggle, Code Up, etc.) or formal (E.g. Certifications or advanced coursework).

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science, or other quantitative discipline; OR 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 6 years of data & analytics experience OR a minimum of 4 years of data & analytics experience and up to 2 years of progressive functional business relevant experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance, Marketing etc.) for a total of 6 years combined experience OR advanced degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative discipline and 4 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance, Marketing, etc.).

  • Demonstrates advanced skills in mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used to drive fact-based decision-making.

  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.

  • Experience with new and emerging data sets, and incorporation (data wrangling, data munging) into new insights.

What you'll do:

  • Provides hands-on facilitation of major Agile ceremonies across multiple development teams; consults and coaches teams (including the Product Owner) to support a smooth transformation to Agile practices.

The Opportunity

As a dedicated Mid-Level Red Team Analyst on the Cyber Threat Fusion and Emulation Team, you will support Cyber Threat Operation Center (CTOC). The CTOC exists to detect, analyze, and respond to cyber security events. The CTOC is comprised of many teams that work together to achieve mission success. These teams are individual units that partner as needed to provide centralized and coordinated response activities. Our Cyber Red Team is responsible for conducting exercises modeled after real-world threat actors. The Red Team outcomes combined with the teams across Cyber Threat Fusion and Emulation continually enhance threat management capabilities to maximize our protective and detective cyber security posture and continuously improve our processes.

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our San Antonio office for future Entry Level Claims Adjuster opportunities in 2024 . As an Associate Auto Claims Adjuster your work will focus on adjusting non-injury auto claims. You'll work under supervision to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and adjust low complexity auto insurance claims presented by or against our members.   • Acquire and apply basic knowledge of auto coverages, auto physical damage, and liability, in order to evaluate and settle high volume and low complexity auto claims such as; simple comprehensive and collision (i.e., single vehicle, parked and unoccupied, clear liability), glass, roadside, and rental vehicle coverages for repairable vehicles.

  • Resolve claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under direct supervision, while overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.

  • Clearly document thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.

  • Collaborate and set expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.

The Enterprise Risk and Compliance (ERC) Risk Development Program is designed to develop entry-level talent to be the future generation of risk and compliance professionals through meaningful projects and team assignments, senior leader exposure, and professional development opportunities within ERC at USAA.
