The Opportunity
The VP, Marketing Strategy and Data Analytics leader will oversee the development and execution of the go-to Marketing strategies and design and build the analytics roadmap to support both the execution and measurement of success, as well as provide the necessary infrastructure for the Brand and Line of Business (LOBs) analytic teams to operate. In this role, they will lead a talented team of analytics and business professionals, delivering cutting-edge solutions that drive business growth, based on key member insights, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. They will collaborate closely with senior leaders to shape marketing strategies, leveraging insights and emerging technologies to enhance prospect and member engagement and product development. As a key influencer, they will help position analytics as a core competency across the organization, driving innovation, operational efficiency, and market competitiveness. With a strong focus on risk management, this executive will ensure all strategy and analytics initiatives are aligned with governance frameworks, while fostering a culture that reflects our mission and values.
What you'll do:
Provide executive leadership and oversight of the development and execution of the Marketing's analytics, strategy, and roadmap; ensuring alignment with the broader enterprise strategy and risk management frameworks.
Lead the development of innovative and efficient marketing strategies for one or more priority member segments and sub-segments in support of enterprise goals, ensuring a balance between growth opportunities and risk management.
Provide expert analysis of Financial Services consumer and competitive landscape for priority segments, identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive threats from within financial services and adjacent industries.
Support LOB Marketing teams in partnering with product, channel, and experience teams to drive delivery of multi-line value proposition with / to members through differentiated products and experiences tailored for prioritized member segments.
Build an analytics infrastructure to allow for the end-to-end measurement of marketing activities and lead a team of analytics professionals to deliver insights, models, and data science solutions that contribute to business performance, ensuring they are fully compliant with heightened regulatory expectations.
Leverage deep data-driven insights for prioritized segments based on member needs, right to win, and potential value to USAA generated by data and analytics teams, including member and market research, competitive analysis, pricing analytics, member engagement (e.g., personalization, life event detection).
Ensure Marketing investments are aligned with strategy goals and monitor programs to drive financial accountability.
Orchestrate marketing initiatives supporting priority segments and align interactions with other USAA strategic projects; partner with Brand and LOB teams to drive implementation, including but not limited to project execution (e.g., timelines, roadmap, measurement, critical path, milestones, deliverables).
Establish metrics to track & monitor the execution of all prioritized segmentation initiatives across the enterprise and communicates progress, ensuring clear communication of progress to key stakeholders.
Build and oversee a team of professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
10 years progressive data and analytics experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.
8 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Senior executive-level business acumen in the areas of measuring business outcomes, business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.
Experience sponsoring matrixed teams using Agile methodologies.
Extensive experience building data and analytic teams and capabilities to support business decision making.
Proven ability to tell a story through data and communicate problem, impact, and recommendations effectively with senior leadership.
Experience developing and implementing an analytic strategic roadmap aligned with business needs.
Experience with large complex database systems and architecture, structured and unstructured data; with diverse analytics methodologies and approaches.
Proven experience in leading teams resulting in the successful deployment of a data platform utilizing Marketing Industry data management technologies, coordinating across business functions.
Deep understanding of risk management and compliance practices with experience developing data strategies that mitigate risk.
What sets you apart:
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Advanced degree such as an MBA, MS in Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, MIS or related field is preferred.
Expert ability to consult and advise senior leaders on analytic needs to achieve business objectives.
Involvement with industry groups establishing best practices and advancements in data and analytics.
What we offer:
Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $216,750.00-390,150.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
