This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking Engineering Technicians to support various projects in the Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah areas and serve as field and lab technicians.

Your Impact

  • Perform density testing of soils

  • Sample and test concrete in the field and lab

  • Perform concrete reinforcing steel inspections

  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data

  • Provide daily reports of observation and test results

  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications

  • Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites

  • Will travel within and around 2 hours of the city

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 5+ years of related experience on variety of complex projects preferred

  • Certifications might include a combination of GDOT RTT, ICC soils, ACI concrete, ICC concrete reinforcing steel, ICC masonry, NPDES Level 1A or 1B

  • Valid Driver's License required

  • Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times

  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation

  • Ability to travel and work overtime as needed

  • Ability to work in variable outside conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Geologist for our Tampa, FL office.

Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase environmental work processes, due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects. Helps conduct geophysical surveys and performs analysis of geological data from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor). Assists project leadership with site assessment, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, and assisting with their treatment, disposal, and/or onsite remediation. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Determine well-defined data collection methods for extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.

  • Assist with environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).

  • Research environmental hazmat databases regarding historical property land uses.

  • Coordinate site investigation, subsurface boring and trenching oversight, and monitoring of groundwater and extraction well installations.

  • Assist with oversight of drilling subcontractors during sample collection, well installations, and well abandonment.

  • Prepare data and visualizations such as mineral charts, soil analyses, groundwater modeling, maps geologic cross-sections, and other illustrations.

  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting.

  • Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.

  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination.

  • Oversee equipment/tool performance, calibration, troubleshooting of malfunctions, and inventory control.

  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level threat mitigation activities.

  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.

  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but is not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, trench and boring, laboratory documentation, written procedures, monitoring systems, and logbooks.

  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.

  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working as a Geologist.

  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) Required

  • Analytical skills, and proficient with geological research techniques and protocol.

  • Working knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.

  • Working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

  • Experience sampling soil and groundwater via drilling including direct-push, hollow-stem auger, and other similar drilling methods.

  • Experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM guidelines and industry standards.

  • Experience with UST investigations and remediation including investigation of hydro-carbon impacted sites.

  • Experience with evaluation of vapor intrusion and sampling soil gas per DTSC and EPA guidelines.

  • Experience installing groundwater monitoring wells, remediation wells, and soil gas wells.

  • Experience writing groundwater monitoring reports and well installation reports.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.

  • Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Exposure to technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.

  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.

  • Ability to communicate with others in the field such as subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Controller to join our expanding, Earth and Environment (E&E) Project Management group based in San Diego, CA.

The Senior Project Controller will be involved in selected stages of a project's life cycle (i.e. Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control, and/or Closure) for consulting services related to earth and environment projects including site characterization and remediation, environmental permitting and compliance, water/wastewater treatment, and mining. Most components of this role will relate to engineering and/or environmental consulting scopes. The role will be focused on technical practice areas in our earth and environment business such as site assessment and remediation, geotechnical engineering, geosciences, surface water, and groundwater in aspects of projects ranging from site characterization, permitting and planning, desktop analyses, feasibility studies, research and detailed design. This project coordinator role will work closely with project managers and technical managers and ensure the correct delivery of projects within budget and schedule.

  • Conducts monthly Operational Project Reviews on all projects and publishes the project review report with critical issues and actions.

  • Attends internal WSP Administrative Project Reviews as required to discuss projects within their portfolio meeting the Administrative Project Review thresholds.

  • Reviews accuracy of Project Estimate at Completion and addresses variances or issues with PMs.

  • Monitors accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue and works with PMs to address issues as needed.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Architecture.

  • 10+ years of successful experience proposing on, negotiating fee proposals, and delivering Architectural & Engineering (AE) planning, design, and AE construction-phase oversight services on projects under U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) IDIQ contracts (more favorable if such experience is for NAVFAC IDIQs).

  • 5+ years of experience in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • PE or RA registration.

  • Due to project requirements, US Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain a US Government issued Secret level Security Clearance.

  • Experience in Managing and delivering USNavy/NAVFAC and/or USACE/DoD projects.

  • In-depth understanding of national and local codes and ability to analyze and implement building and zoning codes, as well as specific agency requirements and design standards.

WSP USA Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Quality Assurance Representative to join a data center construction project near Jeffersonville, Indiana.

This full-time, onsite Quality Assurance staff member will be responsible as an owners' representative for observing and tracking the delivery, installation, and testing of electrical and mechanical systems of a large-scale mission-critical facility to ensure compliance with the project-specific drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with the client's quality program and project-specific drawings and specifications via routine inspections (e.g., Level 2 commissioning) of all electrical and mechanical components and systems

  • Use an electronic field device and software (e.g., iPad with ACC BUILD) to communicate and track results of inspections and note deficiencies of installed components throughout the construction and early commissioning process

  • Work in a dynamic team environment as the owner representative with manufacturers, construction managers, general contractor and their lower-tiered subcontractors

  • Will read project schedules and determine necessary inspections required based on project and client specifications

  • Proactively schedule inspections and tests with the general contractor and lower-tiered subcontractors based on short term look-ahead schedule

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports summarizing the inspections performed and their results

  • Track documented inspection issues / shortcomings through to resolution

  • Will tailor provided general inspection checklists for project specific equipment

  • Recognize installation trends, take initiative to investigate root-cause analysis, and recommend process improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 5 - 7+ years of construction and/or quality assurance experience, of which 2+ years of experience include complex, mission-critical facilities; data center, hospital, or large-scale construction experience required

  • Experience with large-scale, complex electrical and mechanical installations, and the testing and/or commissioning of similar systems

  • Demonstrated experience with major regulations, industry codes, and standards affecting mechanical and electrical installations, as well as standard mechanical, electrical, and plumbing materials and means of construction

  • Experience performing Level 2 commissioning inspections for set-in-place installations and pre-energization activities

  • College, trade school, or military training in a technical discipline.

  • Able to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment

  • Certifications in quality assurance or commissioning are desired, but not required (e.g., CDCAP, DCEP, ICC, CxA, NICET, ASHRAE, USACE CQM, etc.)

WSP USA is initiating a search for a Lead Geologist for the Rancho Cordova, California office! This person will provide environmental consulting services in support of public and private clientele. This position requires an individual with effective project management and communication skills as significant client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work on projects of variable complexity with the desire and ability to mentor and build a strong support team. This position includes both office and field work on project sites in and out of California.

WSP USA's Rancho Cordova, California office provides a broad range of services in engineering and earth and environmental sciences. Our Rancho Cordova staff of approximately 40 engineers, geologists, scientists, and support personnel specializes in environmental planning, compliance, investigation, remediation, and toxicology. We provide comprehensive support through all phases of assessment and remediation, from preliminary screening through remedial investigation, feasibility study, remedial design, and construction oversight. In addition, we provide storm water, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and other environmental compliance services.

Your Impact

  • Direct and supervise technical assignments (both field and office) and manage entire projects or specific elements of projects.

  • Direct a team and perform geologic/hydrogeologic interpretation of data at complex sites including former mining facilities.

  • Provide technical review for projects to comply with environmental laws, company standards, contract requirements and related specifications.

  • Schedule, direct, and supervise field programs and subcontractors as needed.
