Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Our Water Team is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to work out of our Tempe, AZ office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.
Your Impact
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Drainage Engineering.
Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
Must be 18 or older.
Demonstrated interest in Drainage Discipline or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship
Preferred Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
Experience using AutoCAD or Revit.
Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.

The Street Zero Vision Program Manager will lead the development, implementation, and management of Vision Zero initiatives aimed at eliminating traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries on streets. This role involves strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and program evaluation to advance the city's commitment to road safety and ensure a holistic approach to traffic safety management.
Your Impact
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management:
Develop and implement Vision Zero strategies, policies, and programs.
Create and oversee detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Coordinate with city departments, agencies, and external partners to align efforts and resources.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze traffic accident data to identify trends, risk factors, and high-priority areas.
Prepare regular reports on program progress, performance metrics, and outcomes.
Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve program effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with community organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to promote Vision Zero goals.
Conduct public outreach and educational campaigns to raise awareness about traffic safety.
Facilitate workshops, meetings, and forums to gather input and feedback from the community.
Policy and Advocacy:
Advocate for policy changes and infrastructure improvements that support Vision Zero objectives.
Stay informed about best practices, new technologies, and legislative developments related to traffic safety.
Work with elected officials and policymakers to advance Vision Zero initiatives.
Program Evaluation and Improvement:
Monitor and evaluate the impact of Vision Zero programs and initiatives.
Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations based on evaluation findings.
Ensure continuous improvement through regular assessments and updates to program strategies.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage budgets for Vision Zero projects and initiatives.
Allocate resources effectively and ensure cost-efficiency in program implementation.
Seek and apply for grants and funding opportunities to support Vision Zero activities.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
15+ years of relevant post education experience in Transportation Planning, Traffic Safety, or Program Management, with a focus on Vision Zero or related safety initiatives.
Equivalent Licensure in related field of industry.
Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and interpretation.
Excellent project management abilities, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of traffic safety principles, urban planning, and relevant regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, GIS software, and other relevant tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

The Customer Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), providing career development, remedial training, and ensuring adherence to department goals. This position requires strong collaboration with management, peers, and external partners to deliver high-quality customer service while driving team performance. Duties include the responsibility of processing customer inquiries as inbound mail, phone calls, walk-in's, payments, and other assigned tasks. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include some or all of the following. Supervisor may assign other duties as needed.
Supervisor Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver Contact Center performance statistics, monitor Contact Center attendance, provide Career Path progress, perform career development for CSRs, and provide remedial training. kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Atlanta, GA office. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer with us, you will design complex cooling and HVAC systems including air distribution systems, chiller plants, and alternative energy solutions while leading projects and a team of mechanical engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Produce high quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals
Design complex and large air distribution (supply, return, exhaust) and hydronic systems (chilled water, heating water, etc.)
Design Automatic building automation controls systems and specification for large air distribution and heat rejection systems
Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
Attend client meetings and lead discussions
Communicate complex mechanical engineering concepts and decisions to clients and stakeholders
Directing complex mechanical engineering requirements and integrate into facility designs
Collaborate and coordinate with internal project discipline team members and external equipment vendors and manufacturers
Act as the lead mechanical engineer on projects and direct the project team
Lead and mentor a team of engineers
Perform project management activities including writing proposals, establishing budgets, and managing client interactions

Who You Are:
The ideal candidate is a technically sound mechanical engineer with the ability to lead and develop complex projects and foster the growth of junior engineers. Candidate has strong communication skills, and an interest in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external design, client, and construction team members. Candidate is willing to travel to client sites.
Minimum Requirements:
Proven history of Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis
10+ years of experience in designing mechanical systems for the high performing, commercial, industrial or mission critical/data center buildings
Experience mentoring and training others in field
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact well with others as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals
Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and codes
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
Experience with the analysis of interior and exterior Computational Fluid Dynamics of airflow

Your Impact
Assist with field assignments, such as providing EHS compliance support and train with senior staff at EHS compliance audits.
Assist with providing EHS compliance program support for commercial and industrial clients including reviewing procedures and permits, reviewing periodic regulatory reports, and supporting preparation and delivering of compliance programs, including training programs.
Prepare written and verbal technical reports, including documentation of EHS compliance audits and field investigations, regulatory research, evaluation of findings, data management and interpretation, and development of graphical and tabular presentation of data.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Earth Science, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
5-10 years of post-education experience conducting EHS compliance audits and compliance assistance to clients.
Baseline knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations including RCRA, SARA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, TSCA, OSHA and MI OSHA standards.
Experience with evaluating EHS regulatory compliance in industrial settings either solo or part of an audit team.
Valid US driver's license.
Participation in an OSHA-mandated medical surveillance program will be required, and safety training will be provided before being assigned to work in the field.
Applicants must be able to work in conditions typical of industrial facilities.
Self-sufficient, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure of deadlines is essential.
Interest and proficiency in investigative work, with high attention to detail is critical to this position.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Travel up to 50% of the time. Must be willing to make trips on short notice, including to local sites, and travel via air or land. Overnight travel is often required.

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provide oversight with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, , substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NCEC, and NERC standards and regulations for design work.
Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Prior experience working with local architectural clientele, contractors and/or Owners is required
Highly proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Highly proficient with infrastructure design.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including comprehensive experience in working with adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, P&C, SCADA, and telecom.
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies

WSP is seeking a Lead Environmental Project Manager with a minimum of 10 years of experience to effectively develop and manage project work, implement and oversee sites assessment, remediation, demolition and other related environmental projects in support of State, Local, Federal, Industrial, and commercial clientele. Who You Are
Required Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. graduate, with directly related degree in engineering, geology, or environmental sciences
Experience across a range of commercial, industrial, and federal sectors. Experience with Federal entities is preferred.
7-10+ years relevant experience with increasing levels of project complexity and management responsibility
Track record of performance in a seller-doer culture (business development/client management)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in State and Federal regulations and processes
PE or PG or other applicable registration preferred

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Baseline knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations including RCRA, SARA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, TSCA, OSHA and MI OSHA standards.
Experience with evaluating EHS regulatory compliance in industrial settings either solo or part of an audit team.
Valid US driver's license.

Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Earth Science, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
5-10 years of post-education experience conducting EHS compliance audits and compliance assistance to clients.
Baseline knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations including RCRA, SARA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, TSCA, OSHA and MI OSHA standards.
Experience with evaluating EHS regulatory compliance in industrial settings either solo or part of an audit team.
Valid US driver's license.
Participation in an OSHA-mandated medical surveillance program will be required, and safety training will be provided before being assigned to work in the field.
Applicants must be able to work in conditions typical of industrial facilities.
Self-sufficient, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure of deadlines is essential.
Interest and proficiency in investigative work, with high attention to detail is critical to this position.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Travel up to 50% of the time. Must be willing to make trips on short notice, including to local sites, and travel via air or land. Overnight travel is often required.

WSP is seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for their Los Angeles, Irvine or Riverside, California office. This opportunity involves being part of our deeply experienced Property & Buildings Team in Southern California . Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
Provide oversight with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, , substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NCEC, and NERC standards and regulations for design work.
Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Perform professional electrical engineering work and conduct more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, substation layout and bus arrangement, grounding grid design and lightning protection, and power plants to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, grading, drainage, pavement design, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Oversees the development and implementation of future-ready technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, cabling, conduit and trenching design strategies, electrical design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality or end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
Actively oversee from project inception to completion, the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, site development, grading, drainage, equipment layout, elevations, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Lead larger-scale electrical engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
Assist with engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of electrical/engineering/construction challenges and programs.
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or address electrical, design, and/or construction issues or opportunities.
Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements in alignment with Pickett's standards.
Develop a client base for providing high level electrical engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.
Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Prior experience working with local architectural clientele, contractors and/or Owners is required
Highly proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Highly proficient with infrastructure design.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including comprehensive experience in working with adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, P&C, SCADA, and telecom.
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP, WIN IGS, Inventor, AutoCADD electrical), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
