Senior Graphic Designer - WSP USA

Job Description

WSP USA Inc. has a unique opportunity for a Senior Graphic Designer to be part of our Northern California Strategic Growth Team. The position will ideally be located in any of our West Region primary offices including: California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Other locations within the United States may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Senior Graphic Designer will lead overall graphic design and production layout for a variety of short and long format documents such as proposals, presentations and other marketing and communications collateral. In collaboration with proposal and technical staff, the candidate will create overall visual concepts for marketing and technical deliverables to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate our clients. This role is an integral member of our marketing team and will be heavily involved in proposal layout and overall document management.

The position will integrate with a high-performing, supportive team of graphic design peers, marketing managers and coordinators, as well as strategy development staff responsible for securing some of the largest infrastructure projects in the Western U.S. The candidate will be responsible for consultation, art direction and production, as well as proposal support with strong attention to detail, a focus on efficiency and quality, and high level of collaboration in a fast-paced team environment.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Work independently and with proposal and presentation teams on storyboarding and graphics development, translating complex business information and reports into charts and graphics in a compelling and easy to understand manner

  • Contribute to implementing workflow enhancements for the graphic design team

  • Accountable and responsible for meeting deadlines and following through on commitments with attention to detail

  • Use graphic design principals such as color, form, and balance to create original design concepts that inform and engage technical and non-technical audiences across a variety of digital and print platforms; design interactive experiences across multiple digital platforms.

  • QA/QC and design review of junior designer and peer-created work; creating punchlists of needed revisions and confirming completion.

  • Maintain knowledge of and proficiency with the latest technologies and trends in the graphic design environment. May require researching and employing new software technology and design/development techniques.

Minimum Qualifications (a.k.a. what you need from day one):

  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design for long-form documents (preferably proposals in the AEC industry).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art, Design, Graphic Design, or related field

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign (as well as Illustrator and Photoshop) and demonstrated experience working with proposal layout.

  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is currently initiating a search for a Telecommunications Designer to sit in any of our kW office (Troy NY, New York, NY, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, Tempe AZ or Herndon VA). As a Telecommunications Designer with us, you will design Outside Plant Pathways and other building systems including MMR/IDF layouts, Cable Tray layouts, Wireless Access Point layouts, and structured Cabling infrastructure layout to support the Controls Network

Your Impact

  • Work independently to perform a variety of BIM/CAD design assignments supporting multiple engineering disciplines

  • Produce accurate 2D drawings, 3D BIM Models using Revit or equivalent BIM program

  • Design low voltage systems for buildings including telecommunications systems, audio visual, security, and electrical/mechanical control integrations

  • Meet required schedules while producing quality work

  • Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control of design packages

  • Perform design tasks for site and building technologies including telecommunications systems, audio visual, security, and control integrations

  • Independently support the team during design and construction stages of projects

  • Research & recommend fundamental components identified in designs

  • Develop equipment, conveyance and device layouts, floor plan, and riser diagrams

  • Prepare cable schedules and specifications

  • Perform construction administrations tasks

  • Survey and evaluate existing conditions

  • Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is highly experienced in Revit and AutoCAD and has experience in information and communications technology. Strong communication skills, and an interest in liaising with internal and external design, client and construction team members are also necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience designing low voltage systems for high performing commercial, industrial, or mission critical/data center buildings

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Experience with applicable software packages including AutoCAD, Revit

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter?

Job Duties:

  • Function as "right hand" for SVP PMCM in support of growing and managing the PMCM business in the Mid Atlantic

  • Identify new projects, lead project pursuits, support Business Development in conjunction with SVP

  • Support national P3 practice in conjunction with SVP, providing technical advisory to owners and project proponents

  • Represent public agency owners to provide project oversight, guidance and control during construction

  • Lead and oversee delivery of Construction Engineering & Inspection services

  • Review contract solicitation packages and recommend construction proposals to be considered for award;

  • Coordinate the timely processing of submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), potential change orders (PCOs), transmittals, and change orders;

  • Resolve and effectively communicate construction issues in a timely manner to maintain program on schedule and budget;

  • Review contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and scope changes. Escalate concerns to the Program Manager;

  • Provide technical and cost analysis support. Review requests for changes submitted by the construction contractors and make recommendations for acceptance;

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, business, or related field.

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in field construction, construction oversight and verification of construction progress, with focus on transportation.

  • Field experience in bridge construction as a field engineer or construction supervisor

  • Experience working on river crossings

  • Similar experience in other asset types such as water projects, school buildings and marine projects is desirable

  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules.

  • Working toward PMP, CAPM, or CSCM and /or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification..
