This opportunity entails operating and maintaining a variety of surveying equipment, instruments, and software, including robotic total stations, global positioning systems, data collection devices, and point processing software.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintains survey equipment.

  • Checks Crew Chief's calculations.

  • Operates survey instruments and equipment for field surveys.

  • Collects and documents and records field data.

  • Loads and operates survey instruments to conduct survey activities.

  • Assists in field maintenance of survey tools, equipment and vehicles.

  • Records accurate notes of survey data collection process.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • HS/GED

  • Valid driver's license

What We Prefer:

  • 1 year of previous experience in surveying or related field. Knowledge of INDOT codes

  • Willingness to travel. Willingness to work outside in all temperatures and a variety of terrain such as creeks, rivers, steep hills, and bridge embankments. Assist help to the Survey Crew Chief.

  • Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives. Identifies and resolves non-compliant work.

  • Provides interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

  • Confirms change order requests, develops estimates, negotiates costs, and writes change orders.

  • Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.

  • All jurisdictional certificates.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 8 years' construction inspection experience on heavy civil projects including bridge, roadway, transit, and/or rail.

  • Experience on alternative delivery projects, including GC/CM and/or Design-Build.

  • Understanding of construction methods, including standards, equipment, processes, and safety considerations, and an ability to read and interpret complex contract documents.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with project team, clients, and contractors.

  • Ability to anticipate problems and proactively develop solutions to overcome those problems.

  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Bluebeam, & Adobe, mobile devices such as tablet computers, and CM software programs.

Our Bellevue Office is seeking Environmental Planning interns for Summer 2025.

Interns in this position will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Research and write certain sections of environmental documents, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.

  • Research and write certain sections of permit applications, such as Section 404/401.

  • Assist Environmental Planning staff in the field by conducting waters investigations, including wetland delineations, and preparing Waters of the U.S./State Reports.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Relocation and housing are NOT provided for this position.

What You'll Do:

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks.

  • Conducts basic research and data collection.

  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.

  • Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program

What We Prefer:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Team oriented

  • Knowledge of NEPA and SEPA

  • Currently enrolled in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geography, Planning or related majors
