Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy Dept - Memorial Regional Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Endoscopy Dept Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

  • Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status

  • Determining the priority of the patient's problems and needs

  • Implementing clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.

Essential Job Functions

- In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.

- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.

- Delegates tasks and functions according to applicable laws, regulations, and standards, taking into consideration the competency of the assignee.

- Responsible for managing the nursing care of the patient within the OR and coordinating the needs of the surgical team with other care providers necessary for completion of surgery.

- Observes the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective and assists the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.

- Provides preop, intraop, and post-op care, including assessment and discharge instructions.

- Assess the patient's condition before, during, and after the operation to ensure an optimal outcome for the patient.

- Anticipates the scrub nurse's needs and opens sterile packs, operates equipment, and keeps accurate records.

- Responsible for reprocessing if on Endoscopy team.

- BSMH nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Evaluates, plans, and implements Physical Therapy services for patient according to standards of practice of the profession, laws governing practice by the State of Ohio, and facility and department policies and procedures. Required:

4 year/ Bachelor's Degree

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Clinical Liaison is primarily responsible for the referral development activity associated with Mercy Acute Rehabilitation Unit and acts as a liaison between internal and external referral sources, and internal operations. The liaison will participate in community and corporate events and reflects the organization's mission, core values and ethics . The Clinical Liaison is responsible for establishing relationships with physicians, payers, and other referral sources. This position will ensure appropriate patient placement through clinical assessments and screening in conjunction with the internal team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for identifying and qualifying new business development opportunities and overseeing the capture management and proposal development processes.

  • Conducts sales calls on existing and potential referral sources to maintain a constant flow of referrals and perform problem solving as necessary. Actively identify and follow-up on opportunities to increase profitability, efficiency and market share.

  • Follows-up on internal and external problems as related to the referral and admission process to ensure rapid solutions. Maintain knowledge of and effectively promotes programs and internal resources.

  • Functions as a resource for and provides team members with in-service/cross-training on acute rehabilitation criteria, diagnostic case mix management, coding, etc., as applicable.

  • Schedules and conduct presentations and tours of the the acute rehabilitation unit to referral sources, professionals and family members. Ensure consistent marketing of the unit in the newspaper, television and in the community.

  • Works directly with the unit Medical Director on the admission of patients. Completes detailed Pre-Admission Screens, according to facility policies and procedures and payer requirements.

  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure excellent coordination of care from admission to discharge.

  • Provides patient updates to physicians, payers, case managers, social workers and other relevant persons.

  • Reviews patient medical charts and understands pharmaceuticals, test results, therapy evaluations, pre-existing conditions, and has a general medical knowledge of the patient.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Care Practitioner III is responsible for providing respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education and evaluation. Performs all respiratory care procedures including but not limited to oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostic services and patient and staff education.   • May provide clinical instruction and/or in-service training to department staff, other healthcare team members, and students.

  • Provides support to clinical learning through mentorship, clinical rounds and practice evaluation provides clinical leadership for the advancement of professional respiratory practice to staff in the intensive care, general care, and outpatient services.

  • Provides feedback for coaching and performance evaluations of team members.

  • Gives postural drainage, vibration, percussion to ensure proper drainage of bronchial secretions by use of manual or mechanical percussion; check orders and X-rays for segments to be treated prior to initiating treatment; auscultation prior to and after procedure to note presence of clearance of secretions and response to therapy.

  • Instructs patients and families in incentive spirometer, metered dose inhaler (MDI) administration, postural drainage and clapping, oxygen therapy, ventilator care and home aerosol therapy.

  • Procurement of sputum for culture and sensitivity or airway clearance either by patient coaching, administration of mucolytics, aerosol therapy or endotracheal / nasopharyngeal suctioning.

  • Evaluates normal and pathologic blood and urine laboratory value ranges.

  • Performs arterial punctures and analysis; has an in-depth knowledge of analysis and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation. Performs arterial line procedures, takes safety precautions, sterile procedure, flushing, and ABG aspirations.

Job Summary:

The CT Technologist provides direct patient care by applying the skill of diagnostic imaging utilizing CT scanning equipment. They will assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.
