Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

  • Will treat orthopedic and sports medicine patients with general acute and chronic pain and dysfunction, as well as post-operative patients of all age ranges (but not pediatrics).

  • St. Francis Therapy Center offers comprehensive services for outpatients following an injury, before and/or after surgery, or because of a medical condition.

  • The Physical Therapist is a registered/licensed professional who performs evaluations and directs/administers plans of care in physical therapy. He/she will deliver services consistent with Rehabilitation Services policies and procedures.

Employment Qualifications

Education : Must be a graduate of an accredited program. Successful completion of appropriate Connect Care training modules for position/location.

Licensure, Registration, or Certification: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in state of South Carolina. Rehabilitation Services encourages participation in advanced clinical practice.

Essential Job Functions Demonstrates basic knowledge of diagnoses seen in Physical Therapy. Performs accurate evaluations, tests, and measurements. Documentation should reflect the need for skilled intervention and continued need for therapeutic services. Identifies short and long-term goals, rehabilitation potential, and estimates necessary length of intervention. Selects appropriate therapeutic procedures and treatment diagnosis that supports medical necessity therefore maximizing patient outcomes. Consults with patients, families, and inter-disciplinary team to design the plan of care and goals. Demonstrates basic skill level in the delivery of Physical Therapy procedures. Reassesses patient status on an ongoing basis and revises goals and treatment plans as indicated. Participates in discharge planning. Teaches and communicates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team to achieve Physical Therapy goals. Documents all aspects of assessment planning and treatment in the medical record in a timely and quality manner. Ensures adequacy of physician's orders and appropriateness of diagnosis. Completes patient charges in a timely/accurate manner. Understands CPT codes and regulations associated with them to include - the 8 minute rule; non-timed procedures; appropriate use of group codes; functional limitation reporting; and modifiers. Adheres to Bon Secours St. Francis Health rules, regulations and policies. Assists in monitoring quality improvement, infection control and safety standards. Notifies Director of problems with current hospital processes and helps to develop and implement corrective action to ensure departmental effectiveness. Provides supervision of professional staff and support personnel as outlined in organizational chart. Provides orientation of new personnel, students and/or volunteers. Facilitates staff development/competency programs and participates in the staff retention and recruitment activities. Participate in inter and intra-departmental in-service training. Participates in task forces as directed by Director. Alerts Director of problems identified with departmental processes and assists in rectifying problems and creating new processes as indicated. Attends meetings as requested by Director. Attends staff meetings/huddles for the purpose of revising policy, discussing problems, continuing education, etc. Participates in task forces or other hospital-wide committees as requested by Director. Acts as a liaison between other departments, medical staff, etc. Prepares, presents and participates in educational programs as assigned by the Director. Assists in marketing and program development activities for Rehab Services. Adheres to Bon Secours St. Francis Rehab professional behavior policy. Abides by standard of practice and code of ethics for licensure of the state in which he/she practices. Maintains professional development by participating in literature review, current trends, professional affiliations, conferences and lectures, etc. Provides excellent customer service for internal and external customers. Participates in process improvement education and activities as requested. Maintains professional behavior according to standards and policy. Achieves and maintains BLS certification Other duties as assigned by Director. May require local travel.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Patient Services Representative will serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community. This position will receive and process patient referral, patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards and identification, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently. - Documents in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and appropriately.

- Manages in basket messages in the electronic health record (EHR) under the Provider's verbatim instructions.

- May perform front desk workflows (i.e., My Chart requests, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out).

- Follows up on orders, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits and collects co-pays as needed.

Job Summary:

Job Summary:

The Obstetrics (OB) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists registered nurse and surgical technologist with patient care and operation of departmental services, e.g. turnaround time, under the supervision of the Lead Attendant and Clinical Coordinator/Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Transports blood / tissue specimens to the Laboratory.

  2. Obtains blood for surgery patients as required.

  3. Maintains supplies in dressing rooms (e.g. scrub caps, shoe covers, etc.) for staff and physician use.

  4. Maintains gas cylinders as needed (CO2, O2) for department.

  5. Maintains supplies at scrub sinks and keeps scrub sinks cleared of scrub sponges / brushes. Periodically cleans rubber mats at scrub sinks.

  6. Maintains cleaning supplies for daily case load. Orders and changes mop heads per policy.

  7. Transports supplies to OR from Materials Management storeroom (Eastside).

  8. Stocks supplies.

  9. Adheres to Standard Precautions / Isolation protocol at all times.

  10. Cleans and prepares stretchers in the preop, preop holding, and PACU for patient use.

  11. Transports patients to the OR. Assists with transport of patients to the nursing units from PACU.

  12. Transports beds from nursing units and Critical Care when needed.

  13. Assists with patient care, to include transferring patient from bed to stretcher, stretcher to bed, and positioning of the surgical patient.

  14. Assists with performing patient surgical skin preps, as related to holding limbs, under the supervision of nursing staff.

  15. Performs cast removal on patients.

  16. Assists OR personnel in the clean-up of rooms after cases, to include removing contaminated linen/trash, mopping floors, emptying used suction canisters, and cleaning equipment.

  17. Transports contaminated linen and trash to appropriate repository.

  18. Operates the Neptune liquid waste disposal system - set-up, docking, and rinsing.

  19. Checks and records temperatures for Center Core refrigerators, blanket/fluid warmers, and allograft cabinet. Checks the eye wash stations and records.

  20. Performs regularly scheduled maintenance on the cryo freezer.

  21. Assists with up-keep of copy machine paper, toner, etc.

  22. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics)on his or her assigned unit.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision of a Supervisor/Manager/Coordinator, the scheduler is responsible from performing revenue cycle tasks necessary to ensure compliance, patient safety, and excellent customer service. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Associates degree in health related field and a minimum of 3 years working in a physician practice, urgent care or similar setting OR the equivalent practice experience.

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact effectively with patients and families, physicians and office staff. Ability and willingness to identify operational and/or staff and provider issues and elevate them for resolution.

Demonstrated problem- solving ability and experience.

Documents in EMR accurately and appropriately. Manages My Chart request and incoming patient calls. Manages in basket messages under the Provider's verbatim instructions.

Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies appropriately, tracking referrals, labs and diagnostic tests, disposing contaminated supplies, etc.

Licensing/Certification

Medical Assisting certification (required within 9 months of placement in MA role): Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assisting), Registered Medical Assistant (American Medical Technologists), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (National Healthcareer Association, or National Certified Medical Assistant (National Center for Competency Testing). If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable within same time period.

BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required prior to independent patient care).

Education: High school degree, preferred vocational/technical degree in medical assisting. Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program (required within 30 days of employment)

Minimum Experience: One year of healthcare experience, or 24 months of clerical physician practice experience preferred.
