Registered Nurse (RN) - Obstetrics (OB) - St. Mary's Hospital:

Job Summary:

The Obstetrics (OB) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

Summary of Primary Function

The Obstetrics (OB) Registered Nurse (RN) addresses the care provided to healthcare consumers in the context of women-, newborn-, and family-centered care and includes those who do not self-identify as women or exclusively as women, as well as all people parenting newborns. The Telecommunications Operator expedites telephone, radio, pager and public address communications throughout the Hospital, including emergency announcements and notifications in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness Manual. Responsibilities include contacting on-call teams; administrative, medical personnel, surgery, anesthesia, cardiac, emergency/disaster, etc.

  • Functions as a full time Operator; responds, prioritizes and navigates all internal and external calls in a prompt courteous manner including patient information and transferring to patient rooms. Coordinates language and sign language interpretation requests by callers. Must possess ability to trouble shoot and resolve caller problems and specific requests in a timely manner. Maintains pagers, (site specific). Utilizes paging system, two way radio and portable phones as needed. When requested, contacts On Call Teams/Personnel and documents according to site specific protocol. Monitors and responds appropriately to alarms, i.e. Security/Panic, Maintenance, Elevator, Weather Radio, Responder 5 and Emergency phone line notifications. Responds accordingly to Emergency codes and site specific policies. Records all shift occurrences and fulfills documentation requirements per site policies/protocol. May also organize and update the hospital directory; track employee pager assignments; assist managers in ordering departmental language phones; order all office supplies; attend hospital staff meetings as needed

  • Coordinates calls for "On call Teams" Documents calls including name and time of call, tracks and follows outcome of each request. Notifies appropriate personnel of response status.

  • Monitors and responds to alarm, security systems. Identifies alert situation, emergency/disaster codes, medical gases, severe weather, elevator malfunction, and security systems; notifies appropriate response personnel. Documents type of alert and call/response details.

  • Determines need for outside operator assistance and connects all callers as appropriate. Responds to, prioritizes and dispatches all calls forwarded from the information desk during its non-staffed hours. Coordinates all language line requests; documenting calls including location and time of call. Connects callers with language line personnel.

POSITION: Payroll Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the oversight and preparation of payroll for the Congregation of Bon Secours-USA (CBS), including the Retreat and Conference Center (RCC). The Payroll Manager will head the payroll department/function, responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, compliance, and systems. They will also ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all reporting and tax obligations are met. This position will also support the Finance function including overseeing the Accounts Payable process for both CBS and the Retreat and Conference Center. The incumbent must be skilled in understanding productivity measures and adept at building relationships with personnel in both the financial and operational arenas.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Finance Director, CBS USA.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A representative summary of tasks to be performed by the incumbent is provided below. The incumbent may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values and mission focus of The Sisters of Bon Secours, and in-line with the organization's Code of Conduct.

  • Payroll duties:

  • Processing:

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions. This includes salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.

  • Maintaining accurate employee records, including attendance, leaves and personal information.

  • Process new hires, terminations, promotions and other employee status changes in the payroll system, to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

  • Compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

  • Maintain files and comply with record retention requirements.

  • Reporting:

  • Generates payroll reports, including tax filings and other required reports.

  • Reviews financial documents to ensure tax compliance.

  • Communication:

  • Breaks down payroll details and address employee inquiries with clear and friendly communication.

  • Work with other departments to achieve monetary goals.

  • Provide Finance Director with Bi-weekly payroll totals for proper payroll account funding.

  • Collaborate with the human resources and finance departments to seamlessly integrate payroll and employee data.

  • Accounts Payable duties :

  • Oversee the processing of invoices and payments for both CBS and RCC, ensuring data entry accuracy, and ensuring payments are made on time.

  • Software:

  • Use Sage accounting software to process data, report expenses, and manage accounts payable function.

  • Compliance:

  • Oversee and assist in preparation and reporting all documents needed for annual 1099 submission to individuals and to the IRS.

  • Other:

  • Ensure requested payroll documentation is provided to auditors during annual audits.

  • Ability to work with confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance;

  • Minimum of five (5) years payroll and finance experience;

  • Must have a good understanding of, and support, the mission of the Sisters of Bon Secours;

  • Strong communication skills, particularly written and verbal skills;

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;

  • Organized and detail oriented;

Job Summary:

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Responsible for all aspects of scheduling, pre-registration and financial clearance functions associated with the respective specialty procedures. Respond to heavy call volume from various sources to include patients, physicians, hospitals and other professionals in the medical field. Responsibilities include collection and validation of accurate patient demographic and insurance information, obtaining pre-certification/authorization, scheduling for inpatient and outpatient services, and entering information into multiple outpatient and inpatient systems, serving as primary liaison with the patient, physician and hospital related to financial aspect of services. Perform tasks which allows the physician to optimize service to the patient to include rooming patients for office visits and mediation refill. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administrative job duties: Physician correspondence, transcription - narrative reports, letters of recommendation for MD. Schedule and confirm business meetings, arrange business related travel/accommodations and course registrations and organize business receipts. Record CME/DEA/State License. Maintain weekly schedule and appointment schedule and coordinate call schedule and coverage. Communicate with appropriate staff/manager when physician is out of office.

Patient related non clinical job duties: Answer all patient calls within 24 hours.

Schedule inpatient and outpatient services and initiate the verification and pre-auth process. Review benefits, cost and coverage with patients to assess financial liability and answers questions and verify demographic and insurance information. Enter information into both inpatient and outpatient systems including surgery charge entry within 48 hours. Primary liaison for patient, MD and hospital for financial aspect of services. Assist MD with denials and appeals process. Manage patient calls and communicates patient issues with appropriate department and triage call consults. Print and scan medical documentation into EPIC and assist with patient forms to include completion of Medco 14. Ensure all pre-op requirements have been completed: surgeries, pre-admission testing, scheduling outside medical evaluations, and pre-op teaching class. Coordinate equipment orders for surgical patients, assists with patient medication refills, complete bracing and orthotic paperwork, maintain research records and outcomes.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Registered Mammography Technologist produces high quality breast imaging procedures while following guidelines established by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist), ACR (American College of Radiology) and MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program). They will perform all screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) scans according to established protocols and procedures for interpretation by supervising physician.

Essential Job Functions

-Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures.

-Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and consent is obtained by performing physician.

-Correlates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed provider. Conveys patient's clinical history to licensed provider prior to examination.

-Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.

-Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images.

-Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.

-Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of the mammographic procedures.

-Provides patient education and discharge instructions.

-Participates in the department's quality assessments and improvement plans.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.

The Critical Care Transport Nurse acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community, as an educator to professional groups, to emergency medical services and promotes Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric). The Critical Care Transport Nurse will be hired in on a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit base with a progression towards rotor wing flight cross training if interested and openings are available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

5% - Calibrates all equipment necessary for PSG recording including oximeter, polygraph, CO2 monitor, etc.

5% - Interacts with patients to obtain vital signs, pertinent medical sleep history, and responds to basic patient needs and requests. Provides basic information to patients on equipment and recording procedures.

20% - Attaches electrodes and other recording devices to patients undergoing sleep studies according to standardized procedures. Removes and cleans all such devices at the completion of sleep study.

30% - Monitors PSG collection computers and make appropriate adjustments to produce quality PSC recordings free of artifact. Records observations of patient activities and technologist interventions. Able to troubleshoot as necessary to resolve problems with equipment/recordings.

10% - Scores sleep records for sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements, and other parameters. Meets department standards for interscorer reliability.

20% - Titrates PAP devices and O2 during sleep study for optimal resolution of respiratory events and nocturnal desaturations. Conducts CPAP training and desensitization prior to start of CPAP study.

3% - Records written documentation of patient activity in patient's Sleep Center chart or electronic collection file.

2% - Maintains clean and orderly work area and cleans equipment per department policies. Replenishes supplies used in all phases of sleep study as needed.

5% - Stays current in the field of sleep technology by participation in the continuing education activities required for AASM accreditation.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position (2-3 sentences)

The ACPE Certified Educator provides professional Clinical Pastoral Education and supervision to Spiritual care students (e.g. interns and residents) work with the department director in overseeing the CPE program and provides direct pastoral care ministry to patients, families, staff and The BSMH as a system.

Essential Functions

Provide creative and innovative programming for best meeting the needs of various student populations and the clinical pastoral ministry needs of each facility in the BSMH great Lakes region. Provide a structure for each CPE unit such as weekly group seminars and individual sessions; conducts mid and final evaluation for each student in the program. Facilitates the planning and implementation of each teaching unit of CPE in accordance with the standards for accreditation agencies, namely the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and/or the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). In consultation with the department director, the educator recruits, schedules and supervises additional CPE programs for the BSMH system when needed. This includes online program. Oversees the admission process of students into the on-site and online CPE programs in consultation with the department director Establishes and facilitates Professional Education Advisory Groups for CPE. Provides leadership and service to the committee, especially in areas of accreditation/re-accreditation pf the CPE program, ongoing evaluation and development of the curriculum of the program, the financial solvency of the program and the overall operation of the program. Oversees funds collected for the CPE program from BSMH where student placements occur. Coordinates clinical placements in BSMH facilities. Maintains site specific handbooks. Makes site visits as needed and as required by ACPE Standards. Supervises the orientation and clinical work and growth of the CPE students in consultation with the department director, including scheduling, ongoing quality review of ministry performance, and assignments to clinical areas. Works collaboratively with staff chaplains providing mentoring to CPE students. Contributes to the ongoing professional development of pastoral care across the BSMH Northern Region and acts as a resource for the ongoing professional development of resident chaplains. Is a resource for developing CPE in the BSMH Great Lakes Region and for maintaining accreditation standards. Assists the department director in the preparation of the annual budget for CPE, and provides the finance department with requested data regarding Medicare reimbursement. Directs the marketing and advertising of the CPE program in consultation with the department director. May provide any of the essential functions of a chaplain including assisting with medical ethics concerns, acting as a liaison between hospital staff and patient/patient's family, providing any routine pastoral care documentation in medical and department records, participating in interdisciplinary planning functions, and being actively engaged in hospital committees or other related activities sponsored by the hospital. Provides religious services to patients, families, and staff as appropriate. This may include sacramental ministries, prayers, worship services, or other religious functions. Participates in departmental planning, implementation of mission goals and objectives, daily reports, and committee work. The Police Officer provides internal and external safety/police functions to support the general safety of the hospital community to include participation in investigations and arrests when warranted. Patrol is assigned an area and responds to radio and/or telephone calls for routine and/or emergency assistance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assigned patrol within facilities and the campus property including parking areas to maintain a police presence while being on alert for criminal activity and/or the need for assistance.

  • Provides the police services for the facility. Assisting stranded motorist with minor automobile problems. Assists visitors as needed.

  • Responds to calls for assistance and emergencies. Takes appropriate control of dangerous situations by using sound judgement and quick thinking. Assist the medical staff in restraining a patient as necessary. Performs BLS as needed. Serves as first responder to fire alarm activations, chemical spills and Code Blue and Rapid Responses in Public Areas.

  • Conducts preliminary investigations in hospital related incidents related to visitors and patients. Works closely with local law enforcement agencies when the need arises, Maintains accurate records of daily activities. Reports all unusual incidents and criminal activity on incident reports. Takes reports of vehicular accidents, criminal offenses and suspicious activity occurring on hospital property.

  • Maintains the facility's lost and found. Secures valuable property to ensure that it is not lost, tampered with, or stolen. May be required to transport money to and from designated bank. Morgue pickups and release to Funeral Homes and Coroner. Assist with the air ambulance landing.

  • Monitor and review security cameras and alarms.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
