The Lab Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and other specimen collection. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The primary function of the Academic Operations Coordinator is to facilitate efficient and effective operations of the Richmond Higher Education Institutions nursing programs at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing and Southside College of Health Sciences.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead continuing clinical compliance process for all nursing programs to include communication with continuing students regarding compliance requirements, escalation of compliance concerns, and maintenance clinical compliance policies. Serve as the champion for the clinical compliance software. Collaborate as needed with Office of Admissions for new student onboarding prior to start of first semester/term to include student uniform ordering and new student clinical compliance requirements.

  • Ensure that academic policies and procedures are maintained to support nursing programs. Create and maintain standard operating procedures that promote efficient, effective practices and continuous quality improvement.

  • Organize and facilitate the operations of the Curriculum Coordinators to include student testing, practicum site communication and data, use of clinical site reservation applications, and practicum affiliation agreements. Coordinate and support Dean's Administrative Team meetings.

  • Provide support to the BSMCON Campus Director and Dean of Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to include synthesizing data from the student information system, taking minutes, preparing communications and presentations as needed, and effectively communicating to internal and external stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.

  • Manage academic projects to include the planning, organization, assignment of responsible parties, follow up, and follow through. Support the operations of the Global Outreach committee and experiences to include scheduling of meetings, meeting minutes, expense reporting, travel arrangements, and student application process.

  • Manage the organization and creation of electronic files for the storage of data utilized for reports and communications. Assist with the preparation of reports for accreditation and regulatory standards bodies to include the Virginia Board of Nursing, State Council of Higher Education in Virginia, and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

  • Lead ongoing and annual/semi-annual academic projects such as: 1) the revision of the annual Associate Handbook project for BSMCON and SCHS; 2) assist the Senior Institutional Research Analyst as needed with survey creation, implementation and dissemination of results related to nursing programs. 3) the annual review and updates of the booklist to include management of the eCampus bookstore, and 4) the ongoing collection and documentation of various reports to include monthly NCLEX results, student grade appeals, and student conduct reports in the Student Information System.

  • Manage student attendance data with the appropriate follow up and follow through with faculty, administration, and the Registrar to ensure data is accurate and completed by the established deadlines.

  • Promote a flourishing culture where students want to learn, faculty want to teach, staff want to work, and graduates' flourish. Create and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with the Faculty Operations Coordinator and Academic Affairs Coordinator, provide support in their absence.

  • Demonstrates initiative, critical thinking skills, a high level of attention to detail, prompt follow through, and professionalism. Resolve administrative problems by analyzing data, identifying possible solutions, and escalate with the nursing administrative team when needed. Self-directed and collaborates well with a diverse team. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.

- Anticipates the scrub nurse's needs and opens sterile packs, operates equipment, and keeps accurate records.

- Responsible for reprocessing if on Endoscopy team.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Med-Surg - Maryview Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

  • Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status

  • Providing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses

  • Implementing clinical nursing interventions

  • Having a highly diverse medical skillset

  • Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes

  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team

  • Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting and assess patient condition

  • Ability to perform at a higher patient-to-nurse ratio

  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Diploma of Nursing or Associate of Nursing from an accredited nursing program

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred)

Work Experience:

  • Previous RN experience on a similar nursing unit or Long-Term Care setting

Required Licensing & Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
