The Monitor Technician promptly and accurately identifies, documents, and communicates information on the cardiac rhythm status of patients being monitored to the registered nurse and the physician. Serves as the first point of contact for a monitored patient's call button. Appropriately demonstrates a sense of urgency. The Monitor Technician supports positive patient, family, and staff relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BLS / Heartsaver

EDUCATION :

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in health care as Paramedic, EMT, Unit Clerk, Healthcare Clerical Associate, Unit Secretary, Nurse Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Previous experience in a specialty area.

  • Cardiac rhythm course

SHIFT/SCHEDULE

  • Part - time - Scheduled for 16 Weekly Hours.

  • Shift Time - Evening and Night Shift rotation.

  • This position will have scheduled shifts every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.

Under general supervision, assist the pharmacist in processing of medication orders by selecting, assembling, and preparing medications to be dispensed for inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) services. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will have a variety of job responsibilities within the pharmacy that may encompass various activities.

Essential Job Functions

*Assisting the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patients within an inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) service area. Functions include, accepting new written, faxed or electronic prescription orders from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent; accepting new verbal prescription orders for non-controlled drugs from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent as authorized by state law and responsible pharmacist authorization.

*Entering information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system. Ensuring the accurate charge and credit functions related to medication orders are processed for patient billing.

*Preparing and affixing labels; stocking prescription drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory locations; counting and pouring drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist; performing non-sterile drug compounding as defined under guidelines published by United States Pharmacopeia

*Stocking automated drug dispensing cabinets, floor stock, and crash carts; Transport of medications by vehicle to off-site locations. Operating technology used for drug dispensing (robotics)

*As permitted by state law/regulations: Accepting verbal refill authorizations for dangerous drugs that are not controlled substances from a prescriber or the prescriber's agent, so long as there is no change from the original prescription and clarifying prescriptions when no professional judgment is needed; Sending or receiving copies of non-controlled prescriptions (i.e.. Prescription transfers). Technician checking of associate technician work prior to dispensing.

*Assisting in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students and participation in performance improvement activities.

*Outpatient: Packaging and selling a prescription drug to a patient or patient representative and assisting with insurance claim processing. Performing diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines.

*Inpatient/Home infusion: Performing sterile drug compounding as defined under guidelines published by United States Pharmacopeia and infection-control procedures

*Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Other functions as outlined, and in accordance with, respective State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.

Clerical support to Outpatient Rehabilitation services in multiple locations. This includes registration, scheduling and Point of Service Collections. General office duties.

Essential Job Functions

Registration of all new patients. Ability to make sure that all registration information is correct including demographic information, insurance information and correct order for therapy services. All patient must be checked in prior to start of therapy on each visit.

Scheduling of new referrals and recurring appointments for multiple areas. Ability to schedule referrals by diagnosis and discipline (PT/OT/ST) to correct diagnostic team based on physician referral and prescription. Ability to schedule multiple discipline patients. This also includes taking cancellations and rescheduling of new referrals and recurring appointments.

Point of Service collection for current and previous balances

Preparation of Medical Records for scanning

  • Employ a strong financial background and critical thinking skills, analyzes, and facilitates the financial analyses and contract language negotiation for hospitals and physicians necessary to support the accuracy and profitability of fee for service and value based managed care contracting initiatives.

  • Participate on cross functional teams including individual markets and their leadership teams, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Pop Health, and Ambulatory Ventures. Works closely with these groups to develop strategic plans for payers and markets including narrow network alternatives to grow attributed lives.

  • Work within the markets as necessary on the standardization of processes, reporting and approaches to payer contracting, payer relationships, network participation and other strategic project from time to time.

  • Participates in short- and long-term projects, as needed.

  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of the current trends and developments in healthcare reimbursement and development of specific payer strategies, including investigation of new business opportunities, regulations, standards, and directives regarding governmental/third party agencies (Medicare & Medicaid) and/or third-party payers.

  • Prepares, maintains, and organizes sterile supplies and instrument for the procedure.

  • Provides complete case preparation with the ability to adapt of special instruments, supplies, and equipment.

  • Assists with pre and post procedure cleaning of the operative room and instruments.

  • Prepares and performs surgical skin prep and clipping as indicated by procedure.

Education:

Patrols the interior and exterior of the campus to ensure staff safety, and to be alert for criminal activity. Patrols to be conducted or assigned by the Sergeant at least two times per shift.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to respond appropriately to the age, gender, and culture of the patients served by the hospital system during or involving safety and/or security issues, incidents or accidents. Serves non-direct patient population; possible contact with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric age groups among public. Must demonstrate competence to provide psychosocial care for the following patient populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric

Coordinates with the Security Site Supervisor, Security Manager, and Security Director on new initiatives within the Security Department.

Ensures that all Officers respond to security related incidents, write reports on incidents, ensures security officers accurately enter all daily events that happen on shift.

Communicates any changes in the security department to assigned Security Officers when changes are made from the Security Site Supervisor, Security Manager, or Security Director.

Employment Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Preferred Education: Associates Degree

Specialty/Major: Criminal Justice

Licensure/Certification Required:

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Basic & Advanced IAHSS Certification required after three months from hire date.

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years of Security experience. Healthcare Security Officers/Supervisors preferred.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Registered Nurse Medical/Surgical functions as a care provider of a multidisciplinary care team responsible for the delivery of patient care through using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
