General Summary

Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients. Nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Precepts new employees as assigned. Demonstrates competencies in the use of equipment essential in the care of patient age groups as indicated. A CN II is the second step of the Mercy (MERCY) Clinical Ladder. Minimum Knowledge and Skills, Etc.

  1. Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.

  2. Current licensure from the state of Ohio as an RN.

  3. Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes Orientation Checklist.

  4. Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety and CPR Recertification. ACLS is required.

  5. Must have theoretical knowledge combined with clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.

Working Conditions

Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.

CT Technologist - Lorain Hospital (PRN)

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.

Essential Job Functions

- Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.

- Performs computed tomography procedures.

- Performs timeout as required per policy.

- Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.

- Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.

- Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.

- Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.

- Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.

- Participates in on call rotation as required.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Virtual Safety Companion remotely observes and interacts with assigned patients through in-room cameras with verbal interventions and alerts to get bedside staff support for the patient as necessary. General Summary

Must be student nurse pursuing licensure. Functioning as a member of the Care Delivery Team, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Student nurse extern provides basic patient care and activities of daily living under the direct supervision of the RN team leader. Utilizes the nursing process and assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care under RN direction. The Patient Care Assistant Student Nurse Extern will not perform any procedures that require licensing by the State of Ohio (for example, passing medications, nursing diagnosis or completion of an admission assessment). Performs assigned selected functional tasks, treatments and procedures relative to patient care and the unit environment. Reports all findings, information and observations to the RN team leader. Documents findings within capabilities on the appropriate forms. Cleans and restocks various nursing units. Retrieves medical records as necessary. Performs various clerical duties and acts as messenger as necessary.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures at a normally acquired through high school and through nursing classes.

  2. Requires the completion of a two-week Nurse Aide Training Program and achievement of a passing grade on the State of Ohio Test for Nurse Aides through the Ohio Department of Health; this requirement may be completed after being hired. Should the individual not be state tested, they must have completed the 1st year of clinicals from an accredited registered nursing program.

  3. Generally requires three- four weeks of orientation and approximately three to six months related work experience in order to function independently.

  4. Communication skills (written, verbal, and nonverbal) necessary in order to relate well with people of varying backgrounds including patients, family and staff.

  5. Must provide Faculty recommendation from current School of Nursing.

Working Conditions Reporting Relationships

Normal patient care environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature and the like.

Regular (up to fifty percent of work time) exposure to communicable diseases and certain distasteful patient care activities.

The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. - Assists patient and provider with virtual health visits which may include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, contacting the patient to ensure preparedness for the virtual visit, troubleshooting virtual visit issues when needed, obtaining chief complaint and health maintenance checks, medication review, and other relevant patient details prior to the actual virtual visit.

- Documents in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and appropriately.

- Manages in basket messages in the electronic health record (EHR) under the Provider's verbatim instructions.

- May perform front desk workflows (i.e., My Chart requests, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out).

- Follows up on orders, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits and collects co-pays as needed.

- Other duties include, but not limited to, ordering supplies appropriately, tracking referrals, labs and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, etc.

Police Sergeant - Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital

The police sergeant serves as a first line supervisor directly responsible to a department manager. Duties include but are not limited to the first line supervision of the police department's activities throughout the facility and all on-duty activities of employees assigned to his/her squad or team. General Summary

Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients. He/she demonstrates clinical competency, evidence of nursing leadership, and coordinates the nursing care of a specific group of patients. Nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Precepts new employees as assigned. Minimum Knowledge and Skills, Etc.

  3. Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes Orientation Checklist.

  4. Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety and CPR Recertification. ACLS is required.

  5. Must have theoretical knowledge combined with clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.

Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.

Performing the initial nursing assessment, communication findings with the assigned physician, assessing the wound stage and measurements, documenting care plans, evaluating the patient status in regard to desired outcomes, and identifying patient care situations that require intervention.

Collaborates as needed with other healthcare providers, Wound Center providers, Clinical Coordinator and Medical Directors regarding clinic and patient needs.

Lifts, ambulates, and transports patients using appropriate techniques and equipment.

Cross train to cover hyperbaric medicine as needed.

Accompanies and assists physicians with various procedures

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Associate Degree (ADN)

Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN)

Licensure/Certification Required: BLS, must have a current registration and licensure in the State of Ohio

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Wound Care Certification

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years in acute care, Home Health setting

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 2-3 years recent Wound Care experience in the inpatient/outpatient setting / Wound Center.

Job Summary

The Administrative Director is responsible for twenty-four hour accountability, integration, facilitation, and coordination of the leadership, management, and clinical practice of the Care Centers/Division. Serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource/educator for nurses and other members of the health care team. Develops SQP/Care Center goals and objectives with other staff based on analysis of targeted outcome measures of clinical and managerial processes. Strives for operational excellence for patients related to cost, quality, service, and patient outcomes. Is responsible for development and implementation of plans that will support the overall strategic quality plan for service lines involving the assigned Care Centers. Represents the Nursing Leadership and is a liaison to internal and external customers, including physicians. Participates in professional development activities and is active on hospital-wide and physician committees. Demonstrates various styles of leadership. Participates in business development activities for the organization; is accountable for overall budget development, monitoring and variance analysis of multiple units.

Employment Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing or appropriate clinical specialty. A baccalaureate degree is required - Masters degree is preferred.

  • Must possess current license as a Registered Nurse from the Commonwealth of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity, or licensure in specialty.

  • Work requires knowledge of organization and operation of a patient care unit and patient care techniques and methods. Possesses knowledge generally acquired through five to seven years experience in a leadership position.

  • Must have a broad-based knowledge of clinical, psychosocial, and patho/physiological theories relating to patient diagnosis and treatment. Possesses the ability to perform the range of patient care techniques found in general practice including the unusual and non-routine as normally acquired through three to five years experience as a professional nurse.

  • Must have previous work experience in a management position that required knowledge of financial management, personnel supervision and practice, systems and service line development, associated regulatory, licensure, and certification requirements, marketing and contract development.
