Registered Clinical Dietician (RD) - St. Mary's Hospital - Richmond, VA

PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The RD Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a clinician prepared to manage the diabetes population at specific clinical site(s) to support long-term diabetes health. Position responsibilities include identifying the population at risk for diabetes complications; intervening to close care gaps through active collaboration with providers; implementing individual and group diabetes self-management education/training (DSME/T); supporting patients with diabetes (PWD) in changing self-care practices to achieve diabetes health; and participating in quality initiatives of the BSPDH to improve the DSME/T program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of adults, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of patient's status, and interprets information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age and specific needs

  • Manages patient registry of adult patients with diabetes from the electronic health record

  • Establishes a collaborative, therapeutic alliance with PWD that supports shared decision making in the provision of care

  • Implements DSME/T education program in assigned site(s)

  • Individualizes diabetes self-management instruction to accommodate physiologic, psychologic, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs

  • Documents DSME/T assessment, plan and behavioral outcomes in electronic health record; contributes data to analytics

  • Examines abnormal, diabetes-related laboratory and diagnostic reports, uses clinical judgement to discern next steps, and communicates verbally and in written form proposed therapeutic options to providers

  • Participates and completes assigned quality improvement activities using data from the electronic health record

  • Participates in selection of program materials for patient use

  • Completes peer performance reviews as assigned

  • Bills for services rendered in electronic health record and evaluates revenue integrity

  • Assumes additional tasks based BSPDH needs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 year/Bachelor's Degree

Summary

The Supervisor for Sterile Processing will plan, direct, and coordinate all activities related to procurement, processing, inventory, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment for Surgical Services. This Includes 24-hour responsibility for departmental functions including management of personnel. They will provide Central Processing services for ancillary support areas as needed. The Supervisor demonstrate the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital during all interactions with patients, families, staff and others. The Supervisor will act in accordance with sterility per the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), The Joint Commission (JCAHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and state standards of practice.

Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitates communication between different departments within the hospital (e.g., Central Processing Staff and the Operating Room Staff and Physicians, etc.)

  • Prioritizes department activities during oversight of the Sterile Processing area (e.g., decontamination, sterilization, and equipment and/or supply management as it relates to sterile processing).

  • Participates in departmental goals and objectives. Participates in the planning and development of short-term departmental objectives providing evaluations and recommendations.

  • Assigns and/or directs completion and accuracy of operating room (OR) case carts or instrument distribution per facility processes.

  • Manages daily staffing assignments, monthly responsibility summary, employee counseling, and performance reviews.

  • Facilitates communication between Central Processing Staff and the Operating Room Staff and Physicians.

  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuing of surgical supplies and equipment.

  • Oversees decontamination, assembly, sterilization, handling, and storage and special charging of supplies and equipment.

  • Consults with Inventory Clerks and OR Team Leaders and adjusts inventory to ensure adequate supply levels are kept on hand.

  • Oversees documentation of sterilization records and recalls on all positive biological readings.

  • Assists with analyzing departmental needs, new products, equipment, techniques, and services and makes recommendations to Director.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the operation of washer, disinfector, Sterrad, Steris, steam sterilizers, and case cart washer according to proper procedures. This includes preparing, loading, operating, unloading and cleaning.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific instrumentation and age-appropriate interactions with customers.

  • Oversees preparation of surgical case carts.

  • Supervises staff and operations supporting the reprocessing of reusable instruments and equipment in Central Sterile and overseeing the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of reusables.

  • Coordinates staff education and training related to sterile processing procedures.

  • Monitors FTE and productivity and adjusts staffing accordingly. Develops work schedules and assignments.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of sterilization logs and bacteriological indicators.

  • Manages and facilitates functions and staff related to surgical purchasing and sterile processing, if needed.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

In conjunction and collaboration with the Practice Manager, provides clinical and administrative oversight and direction for clinical day-to-day operations of the practice. Able to multi-task, handle difficult conversations with employees and/or providers, prioritize work and possesses general knowledge of non-clinical and clinical areas. Models and develops patient-focused culture with an emphasis on patient safety and satisfaction. Maintains positive and collaborative relationships within the clinical environment and fulfills position responsibilities and expectations by coaching, developing and empowering clinical staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for all ordering of clinical supplies/vaccinations/medications for the practice. Ensures supplies/vaccinations/medications are readily available for clinical operations, and appropriately monitors and coordinates proper disposal according to regulatory requirements. Creates and maintains systematic monitoring process to document efficient supply and disposal procedures.

  • Oversees daily workflow of clinical staff. Provides expertise with patient management systems, including EPIC workflow, functionality and patient care procedures.

  • Ensures regulatory, documentation, maintenance, and inspection standards for clinical equipment, including oxygen tanks, refrigerator temperatures, autoclave, crash carts, other clinical equipment, and MSDS sheets for chemicals/liquids as required.

  • Provides input with associate performance evaluations and trains new clinical staff on clinical and administrative duties. Educates/trains/follow up and re-train staff on procedures or equipment as needed.

  • Acts as a clinical and administrative liaison for clinical staff to ensure smooth, efficient clinical operations and a collaborative team environment.

  • Provides constructive coaching and performance feedback to clinical staff regarding workflow improvement/efficiency as needed.

  • Under the direction of the provider and according to the appropriate certification/licensure scope of practice, contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including but not limited to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight and temperature) and documentation of patient/family needs. Performs duties according to the appropriate scope of practice, and identifies significant changes in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider. Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements within the appropriate certification/licensure role.

  • Assists patient and provider with virtual visits to include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, calling the patient to perform test calls, troubleshooting when necessary, obtaining chief complaint, health maintenance checks and reviewing the medications, follow up orders/appointments following visit and collecting co-pays.

  • Within state guidelines, performs procedures and tests.

  • Maintains skills per the departmental competency guidelines to meet patient care and daily operational needs. This may include front desk workflows, i.e., patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties on an as needed basis. Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers, or adjusting hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the practice manager may also be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/GED (required)

  • Vocational/ Technical Degree or 2 Year/ Associates Degree

  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assisting

  • Active Medical Assisting certification (required): Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assisting), or

Lead MRI Technologist (Tech) - Maryview Medical Center

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

This MRI Lead Tech leads the daily activities of technical personnel assigned to the MRI department. The Lead Tech will perform MRI procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. They will alter imaging protocols at the request of Radiologists. The Lead Tech will work closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.

Essential Job Functions

- Supervises MRI Technologists and models professional and leadership behavior to all personnel.

- Completes assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation; demonstrates flexibility to fluctuation in workload.

- Selects and operats the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.

- Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.

- Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.

- Performs verification of patient safety check list.

- Maintains controlled access to the magnet room and supervises Zone 2, 3 and 4. Serves as MRI safety officer.

- Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

- Assumes responsibility for American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation.

- Oversees quality control duties and maintenance of quality control.

- Works closely with other modalities and departments

Respiratory Aide II - The Jewish Hospital

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Aide II, under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, may provide basic respiratory care to non-acute patients. This role may also be responsible for cleaning, assembling, and maintaining respiratory supplies and equipment. Must maintain a clean, organized, and functional work area.

Essential Functions:

  • Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, draws arterial and/or capillary blood samples from patients, processes the sample, record and report results, and perform quality controls as required.

  • May administer oxygen delivery devices. Sets-up and monitors non-invasive equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers.

  • May provides basic respiratory therapy techniques to include: Aerosol Therapy, Postural Drainage and Percussion, Incentive Spirometry, Metered Dose Inhalers, and all other treatment modalities.

  • May perform EKG's; understands electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.

  • Cleans, sterilizes, assembles, tests, and maintains par levels of facility respiratory equipment.

  • Orders, maintains, and delivers oxygen to units.

  • Ensures respiratory equipment is available for procedures and examinations

  • Arranges for the repair of broken equipment.

  • Fills orders for respiratory supplies and equipment

  • Receives for respiratory supplies and equipment deliveries

  • Labels storage bins, shelves, and other inventory locations

The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist performs any 2 combination of procedures with related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.

  • Performs duties for any 2 imaging modalities. (ex: XR, CT, MRI) (ex: ARRT, RDMS)

  • Meets any continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards

  • Verifies patient identification using two patient identifiers and the procedure requested or prescribed by validating the order.

  • When required by either of the 2 modalities, performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access.

  • When required by either of the 2 modalities, identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

  • When required by either of the 2 modalities, uses a power injector for the administration of medication with approved vascular access device. Follows manufacturer guidelines regarding infusion rates and pressure.

MRI Technologist (Tech) -The Jewish Hospital

Job Summary:

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge in workflows, procedures, operation, and processes of the MRI imaging modalities.

  • Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.

  • Confirms the quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data.

  • Selects proper MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols.

  • Contributes to the training and education of new staff and assists in oversight of MRI students.

  • Provides direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedure.

  • Performs IV injections and administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure.

  • Troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.

Education:

  • Associate's from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accredited institute (preferred)

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification and Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must within one year of hire)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient care)

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in MRI department in hospital setting (preferred)

  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

  • Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Certified Medical Assistant - Urgent Care is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

.Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements within the Medical Assistant role.

.Identifies significant changes in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider.

.Troubleshoots issues and escalate problems to provider, direct supervisor, or appropriate internal resource.

.Demonstrates standards of excellence in care in all interactions, for both internal and external customers.

.Maintains clinical and administrative skills per the departmental competency guidelines to meet patient care and daily operational needs.

.Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

.Travels to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusts hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the practice manager as needed.

.Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe manner, ensuring availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.

.Assists patient and provider with virtual health visits which may include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, contacting the patient to ensure preparedness for the virtual visit, troubleshooting virtual visit issues when needed, obtaining chief complaint and health maintenance checks, medication review, and other relevant patient details prior to the actual virtual visit.

.Documents in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and appropriately.

.Manages in basket messages in the electronic health record (EHR) under the Provider's verbatim instructions.

. May perform front desk workflows (i.e., My Chart requests, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out).

.Follows up on orders, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits and collects co-pays as needed.

.Other duties include, but not limited to, ordering supplies appropriately, tracking referrals, labs, and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, etc.

.Actively participate in ongoing training per Bon Secours Mercy Health and market recommendations.

Licensing/Certification

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NCRMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

  • If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to independent patient care)

Education

High School/GED (required)

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program (preferred in all states except South Carolina)

In South Carolina (completion of one of the below is required)

-An accredited Medical assistant post-secondary education program

-A Career and technical education health sciences program approved by the South Carolina Department of Education

-A medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States military

-A Medical assisting United States Department of Labor approved Registered Apprenticeship program

-A Training program that is delivered, in whole or in part, by a health care employer that aligns to a nationally accredited certification exam

Work Experience

Completion of externship or clinical lab training (preferred)

1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience (preferred)

Skills

- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.

- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.

- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

- Provide authorized prescription and drug refill information for pharmacies as directed by provider.

- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.

- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.

- Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.

- Successfully completes skills or competency checklists to be able to help physicians examine and treat patients, performing such tasks as handing them instruments, giving injections, removing sutures, changing dressings on wounds.
