Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Project Manager with a Professional Engineering License to join our Long Beach, CA Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects and promote growth in existing and new markets. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients. AECOM is seeking a candidate who has a technical background in the environmental investigation/remediation consulting industry, who is also a seasoned Environmental Project Manager and who would like to grow their career into assisting our California Operations with business development activities.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

  • Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects.

  • Consistently delivers profit margins planned.

  • Consistently completes project without financial write-downs or multiplier erosion.

  • Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).

  • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.

  • Has a group of employees/staff that are direct reports.

  • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims.

  • Supervises and directs Project Managers with multiple projects or program of projects.

  • Performs business development to help bring in new clientele or grow existing clientele.

  • Has a sales goal that is customized to fit candidate's skill set. Help grow and lead business development activities.

  • Project management and lead teams for field activities consisting of air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater and sediment sample collection, geologic logging (unconsolidated sediments and bedrock), and interpretation.

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop remedial approaches for soil and groundwater impact, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans.

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums and analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.

  • Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation.

  • Preparation of proposals and costs estimates for new opportunities.

  • Execute fieldwork by directing and overseeing individual or multiple contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors, excavation contractors).

  • Liaison with clients/client representatives, site facilities, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

  • Health and safety planning and hazard recognition.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, regulatory case managers, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. in the geology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering or related field.

  • 6 years of experience in environmental remediation consulting industry (private or public) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Valid driver's license, subject to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

  • Candidate will be required to pass a background check which will include medical surveillance check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

  • PE License

  • 15+ years of experience in environmental remediation consulting industry (private or public).

  • Experience working on environmental remediation projects including field sampling, data analysis, report writing, task management, cost estimate and proposal development, project implementation and execution.

  • Experience working within a dynamic team framework, in-person, and virtual settings.

  • Experience with environmental remediation systems (SVE, Excavation, ISCO, etc.).

  • Experience implementing various remedial strategies to achieve No Further Remediation (in-situ remediation, institutional, engineering, and administrative controls).

  • Strong research and report writing (including web-based research).

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Strong quality and time management.

  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.

  • Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.

  • Interest in performing various business development activities.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated experienced Environmental Engineer for our Los Angeles, CA area. The position could be based out of 4 different office locations (Orange, Long Beach, Westlake Village or Downtown LA) In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, project or task management and supervision of environmental compliance tasks, complex field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work.The candidate will also provide office support for project management, environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, data management and technical evaluation, and report preparation for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects.

This position holds significant growth potential to be a Project Manager or Technical Lead, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Field-based task oversight of environmental investigation and remediation projects.

  • Field-based task oversight of environmental compliance sampling activities.

  • Oversee and lead well installation and sampling tasks.

  • Support development of environmental permit applications.

  • Project Management tasks including budgeting, schedule and scope development and tracking

  • Data management, evaluation and report writing with experience drafting environmental investigation reports.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel throughout the Louisiana area.

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

This position requires both office and field work; the successful candidate should expect up to 40% commitment overseeing field work and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Geology, Engineering, Science or related field

  • 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • US Citizen

  • Valid driver's license, subject to a Motor Vehicle Records Check

  • Candidate will be required to pass a background check which will include medical surveillance check (due to potential exposure to harmful chemicals).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience in environmental consulting

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our Billings, Montana Environmental Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of projects and promote growth in existing and new markets, with an emphasis in supporting Rail and Oil & Gas clients. This full-time position within our Environmental group will manage and coordinate environmental projects related to environmental assessment, remediation, waste management, permit and environmental compliance, and wastewater treatment operations. This position will engage with the client(s), regulatory agencies and support growth and focus on expanding services, with an emphasis on Tail, but supporting other industrial clients. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate project experience, technical knowledge, require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team. This position is available for an Office/Remote Hybrid role for the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for mid to large-sized environmental projects

  • Building strong client relationships

  • Client and regulatory correspondence

  • Technical report writing and review

  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits and tracking

  • Participate in other environment-related projects and tasks as required, including, but not limited to, oil and gas and client WWTP operations, often directing staff, as necessary.

  • Intimate knowledge of environmental regulations, practices, and procedures; recognizes differences or changes that would indicate the need for attention.

  • Receives and maintains required safety and environmental training including, but not limited to, OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER Training with annual 8-hr refresher, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), client-specific training, and regulatory specific training.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering, or closely related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • 4 years of Previous project management experience.

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.

  • Must be able to successfully complete initial and random screening requirements including drug, breathalyzer, urine and/or hair test.

  • Valid US Driver's License to operate an AECOM provided vehicle for travel to various project site(s) to support project task(s) assignments and scope of work. For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM's background check process to ensure compliance with the Company's driving standards.

  • Candidate must be able to meet medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical exam.

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Senior Biologist/Project Manager for immediate employment within our Southern California Natural Resources Group. This hybrid position can be based in any of our Southern California locations including San Diego, Orange, Long Beach, Los Angeles or Ontario.

This position will lead numerous natural resource projects in southern and central California, including management of and technical work on permitting and compliance projects. Primary duties include managing projects involving impact assessments, mitigation planning, regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, ESA, BGEPA, and MBTA and preparing environmental documents and management plans. Candidate will manage clients, coordinate with resource agency staff, lead complex environmental, waters, and/or species-related permitting projects and participate in public review processes. Candidate will contribute to growth of department through marketing pursuits including proposal development, interviews, and business development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages a team to prepare large, complex natural resources documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, 2081 Permit Applications, Habitat Conservation Plans, Eagle Conservation Plans, Delineation Reports, and/or Aquatic Resources Permit Applications.

  • Operates as primary author or senior reviewer.

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer to be based in New York, NY or Raleigh, NC .

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Create electrical engineering designs and contract documents under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer.

  • Design new or modifications to existing low and medium voltage electrical power distribution systems.

The successful candidate will utilize their design and development skills to deliver products that are high quality, on time and within budget. AECOM is seeking a motivated Geologist for employment in the Charleston, SC office. This position will support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Prepare technical work plans and reports.

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Air Quality Scientists to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting team in our New York City office. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients.

This position is expected to begin in June/July 2025.

AECOM's Environmental Planning and Permitting group in New York and New Jersey is seeking a qualified scientist to perform air quality and/or noise impact analyses through using mathematical modeling tools and conducting ambient and source air and noise monitoring programs. In addition to office work, candidate will be required to perform field work in both urban and rural settings.

The candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the states of New York and New Jersey. The candidate will communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role may require travel outside of New York and New Jersey (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers. Field work may include remedial oversight in

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced geologist for employment in the Washington, D.C region to be a task leader for a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations and Site Assessments) for primarily Federal sector clients with a primary focus on projects involving PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. PFAS are a set of emerging contaminants for which AECOM and the hiring team have seen significant growth in their business. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers and senior technical staff as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:

  • Task manage portions of a larger project.

  • Assist in managing and leading complex field investigation programs involving drilling, borehole logging, well installation, groundwater monitoring, and subsequent remedial activities.

  • Provide technical direction and safety oversight to a team of multi-disciplinary AECOM scientists on large field investigations.

  • Provide technical direction and safety oversight of drilling subcontractors while logging soil/rock cores and directing monitoring well construction.

  • Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork.

  • Assist with technical report writing tasks with the support of more junior staff.

  • Assist with proposal writing and cost estimating.

  • Develop subcontractor relationships and manage implementation of their services.

  • Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with public agencies and other stakeholders.

  • Interact with federal and private clients. Attend site visits and technical planning meetings.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of remedial actions.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with nationwide travel. Field work will be required, including oversight of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Month(s) long field programs may require extended travel.

  • Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 65/35 percent split between field and office work.

The ideal candidate comes with similar industry experience that has given them the ability to work independently, with discipline, to steer critical tasks towards the overall project objectives. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or related science

  • 2+ years of post-graduation relevant experience in environmental consulting (i.e., Remedial Investigations and Site Assessments) for Federal, State, or private clients. e or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Must have a valid US driver's license.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience with Remedial/Site investigation, remediation planning, or design.

  • Desire and ability to travel periodically for month-long regional project assignments and occasional meetings.

  • Safety-focused individual with experience in implementation of safety plans; leading safety kick-off calls, daily -tailgate- safety briefings, and comfortable performing subcontractor safety oversight.

  • Experience with CERCLA RI/FS, RCRA, and RD/RA projects with commercial or DoD clients.

  • Experience performing environmental investigations at DoD facilities.

  • Professional Geologist License or preparing for Professional Geologist registration.

  • Technical Skills - Life cycle cost estimating, feasibility studies, basic fate and transport modeling, and excellent technical writing skills.

  • Certificates - OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER Training and current refresher certificates.

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Senior Biologist/Project Manager for immediate employment within our Southern California Natural Resources Group. This hybrid position can be based in any of our Southern California locations including San Diego, Orange, Long Beach, Los Angeles or Ontario.

This position will lead numerous natural resource projects in southern and central California, including management of and technical work on permitting and compliance projects. Primary duties include managing projects involving impact assessments, mitigation planning, regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, ESA, BGEPA, and MBTA and preparing environmental documents and management plans. Candidate will manage clients, coordinate with resource agency staff, lead complex environmental, waters, and/or species-related permitting projects and participate in public review processes.   • Supports overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies.

AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology minded Geographic Information System (GIS) professional for immediate employment in the Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) office as a seconded employee. The GIS Specialist is a full-time AECOM employee that will report to the Associate Vice President & GIS Sr Manager in the Technology Services Group and will support our United States Marine Corps (USMC) client within the Environment Business line. This position will be part of a team of GIS Specialists supporting the MCB Camp Pendleton IGI&S Program with GIS data management, geospatial analysis and modeling, cartographic product development, and technical support. A successful candidate will work both independently and in close coordination with the project team to develop, deploy and support GIS across the installation.

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Senior Biologist/Project Manager for immediate employment within our Southern California Natural Resources Group. This hybrid position can be based in any of our Southern California locations including San Diego, Orange, Long Beach, Los Angeles or Ontario.

This position will lead numerous natural resource projects in southern and central California, including management of and technical work on permitting and compliance projects. Primary duties include managing projects involving impact assessments, mitigation planning, regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, ESA, BGEPA, and MBTA and preparing environmental documents and management plans. Candidate will manage clients, coordinate with resource agency staff, lead complex environmental, waters, and/or species-related permitting projects and participate in public review processes. Candidate will contribute to growth of department through marketing pursuits including proposal development, interviews, and business development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages a team to prepare large, complex natural resources documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, 2081 Permit Applications, Habitat Conservation Plans, Eagle Conservation Plans, Delineation Reports, and/or Aquatic Resources Permit Applications.

  • Operates as primary author or senior reviewer.

  • Manages projects/tasks that include all aspects of environmental analysis (e.g., biological, cultural, air quality, traffic, etc.).

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer to be based in New York, NY or Raleigh, NC .

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Create electrical engineering designs and contract documents under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer.

  • Design new modifications to existing medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems.

  • Design and document normal, standby, and emergency power distribution systems.

  • Complete electrical design calculations including system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations.

  • Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing review, site observations, and RFI responses.

AECOM is seeking an experienced Energy Project Manager to join our growing Energy Team.

This position will perform project management and support technical tasks on a variety of projects including renewable generation, energy storage, building electrification & associated electrical upgrades, and may involve transmission and distribution (T&D) components. The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual and be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of managing and executing energy projects through due diligence, design, construction, and testing/commissioning phases.

The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Interface regularly with the clients to identify project needs, communicate engineering solutions, and strengthen client relationships.

  • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in the coordinated successful execution of projects

  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects

  • Identifying and supporting the development and communication of changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk

  • Reporting and escalating project issues to management as needed

  • Maintaining project documentation control

  • Develop cost estimates to determine ROM on a variety of project types (e.g., renewable generation assets, energy storage, T&D upgrades, building upgrades)

  • Write technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders

  • Review or originate energy production modeling

  • Developing and maintaining good client relationships across the portfolio

  • Lead and support the development of technical proposals.

This role will work closely with business operations and support staff to bring strong leadership, sharp compliance, skilled writing, and creativity to some of our must-win West pursuits.   • Assists with large proposals and able to lead small to medium proposals (cross regions or business lines), and supports from capture through to interview stage, as required.

  • A detailed knowledge of marketing best practices and procedures, work processes, and tools.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Energy Project Manager to join our growing Energy Team.

This position will perform project management and support technical tasks on a variety of projects including renewable generation, energy storage, building electrification & associated electrical upgrades, and may involve transmission and distribution (T&D) components. The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual and be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of managing and executing energy projects through due diligence, design, construction, and testing/commissioning phases.

The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Interface regularly with the clients to identify project needs, communicate engineering solutions, and strengthen client relationships.

  • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in the coordinated successful execution of projects

  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects

  • Identifying and supporting the development and communication of changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk

  • Reporting and escalating project issues to management as needed

  • Maintaining project documentation control

  • Develop cost estimates to determine ROM on a variety of project types (e.g., renewable generation assets, energy storage, T&D upgrades, building upgrades)

  • Write technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders

  • Review or originate energy production modeling

  • Developing and maintaining good client relationships across the portfolio

  • Lead and support the development of technical proposals.

  • Training others to learn project management skills

  • Help recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy

  • High proficiency within Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Excel

  • Occasional travel within the United States may be required

  • Work in a team environment (virtual and periodically in office)

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid US Driver's License and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering or related field

  • 3+ years experience in implementing or managing planning, design, and/or construction projects for energy/sustainability projects with utilities and/or complex buildings or campuses

  • Familiarity or experience in developing or working within Project Management Offices (PMO) to deliver complex projects

  • Advanced degree in a technical, sustainability, or business field

  • Ability to generate or review engineering design packages for renewable or HVAC designs

  • Experience developing solutions or working with a variety of industry software packages (e.g., power system modeling software, building automation analytics platforms)

  • EIT or PE license

  • PMP or CAPM certification

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $125,000.00.
