Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Field Biologist for immediate, on-call part-time employment in the southern/central California and Nevada region. This position would support numerous natural resource projects in the Mojave Desert region of California and Nevada with a focus on leading biological surveys, vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, habitat restoration, and construction regulatory compliance and permitting implementation. This is a field-based, remote position requiring the ability to be local on assignments. A 10(A)(1)(a) permit for listed species local to southern California and Nevada is preferred (but not required), including species such as desert tortoise and/or Mojave ground squirrel, amongst others. This position will support multiple project managers on a variety of types of projects including utility, military, transportation, and renewable energy sectors. The responsibilities of this position could include a subset of those listed below based on relevant experience:

  • Lead wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping.

  • Conduct special-status species surveys, following established protocols or guidelines as relevant.

  • Avian species identification and avian mortality monitoring.

  • Support project execution, including pre-construction surveys and construction monitoring.

  • Provide Construction Lead support as needed.

  • Lead environmental compliance monitoring teams, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, and construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs.

  • Perform other related duties assigned, such as coordination with team members, scheduling of work, etc.

  • Utilize electronic data collection methods (including GPS); manage, interpret, and analyze data, as needed.

  • Botanical knowledge and ability to evaluate phenology for native seed scouting.

  • Oversight of restoration crew work and native seed collection activities.

  • Lead restoration vegetation performance monitoring.

  • Conduct monitoring and survey fieldwork as part of a team and alone in inland and desert environments, which can include rugged terrain and long hikes.

  • Work under the supervision of a senior project manager or senior-level team member.

  • Ability to independently manage tasks and/or oversee project teams.

  • Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.

  • Work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver.

  • Function as the primary point of contact for elevating compliance concerns.

  • Responsible for providing clarification of resource project requirements to the compliance and construction teams.

  • Identify and record native and non-native fauna and/or flora in the field.

  • Promote safety culture and lead by example through maintenance and implementation of Safe Work Plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (biology, ecology, etc.).

  • 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in biological natural resources.

  • Valid U.S. Driver's license is required for this role and must be able to safely drive to job site.

  • Candidates must be able to work in the California and Nevada Mojave Desert region (including Laughlin, Barstow, Las Vegas), based on assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior consulting experience preferred, but non-consultant candidates with relevant experience will be considered.

  • Ability to lead environmental compliance monitoring teams, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, and construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs.

  • Strong organizational skills and proactive communicator.

  • Understanding of mitigation, monitoring, and reporting programs.

  • Experience on construction-associated transmission and/or utility projects.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and permitting requirements under the federal Endangered Species Act, California Endangered Species Act, NEPA, CEQA, and the Clean Water Act.

  • Knowledge of southern California and/or southern Nevada wildlife and plant species.

  • Flexible and willing to support multiple projects as needed.

  • Valid driver's license required and must be able to safely drive to job sites.

  • Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience with electronic data collection.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $38.00/hour - $50.00/hour.

This position would support numerous natural resource projects in the Mojave Desert region of California and Nevada with a focus on leading biological surveys, vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, habitat restoration, and construction regulatory compliance and permitting implementation. This is a field-based, remote position requiring the ability to be local on assignments. AEC OM is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Engineer - Aviation to be based in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

This position is open to recent and Winter 2024 graduates and will begin as soon as available in our Transportation Aviation Business Line.

The position involves engineering and construction management of airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs. Construction work includes construction administration and management including shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions, and construction inspection. Design work includes airfield site design, construction safety and phasing, erosion and sediment control design, utility coordination and design, environmental permitting, and preparation of construction plans, specifications, schedules, design reports, and cost estimates to support the design team, including constructability reviews. The Aviation Engineering Group interacts with and is supported by many other in-house disciplines including Planners, Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical and Special Systems Engineers in typical projects supporting our airport clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs construction administration and construction inspection.

  • Serves as RPR/RE on the construction phase of airport projects within the region led by our Hunt Valley office.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Transportation Intern to be based in Louisville, Kentucky .

This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the Master's degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

  • Previous relevant internship experience.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment Specialist IV to assist on AECOM's VDOT related projects. This role will be a hybrid work arrangement to include a combination of remote and some travel. This position will be based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

The Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates and implements SH&E programs and procedures which meet or exceed OSHA and government compliance requirements related to safety, health, and environment

  • Knowledgeable in DOT Safety Program Management to include the MUTCD and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (WAPM)

  • Attends VDOT project meetings, reviews task-specific Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and assists with safety planning.

  • Mitigate hazards and associated risks within the organization to reduce work-related injury and illness as well as costs incurred from incidents and accidents

  • Monitor the corporate and regional safety programs and policies and procedures as they align to the project plan, seeking to improve year-over-year safety performance, awareness, and behaviors continuously

  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA regulations, programs, and current issues

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement safety training materials and programs

  • Make certain all state and federal recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met

  • Securely and accurately record and maintain employee and safety training records

  • Actively manage employee injuries by working with all appropriate internal and external contacts, including workers' compensation carrier, the client, regional safety, and HR

  • Investigate and document all reported incidents and near misses; coordinate and conduct an injury review process to determine and correct root causes

  • Develop and lead safety audit programs; conduct regular safety inspections, recommend improvement plans, report results, and follow up

  • Serves as Team Leader for Safety Committee and Project Incident Investigations

  • Provides technical safety consulting services for project initiatives

  • Conducts or assists with new employee project orientation and basic training with AECOM and subcontractor employees

  • Conducts frequent inspections of VDOT project and identifies current and future safety challenges

  • Coordinates with VDOT project teams in establishing and administering safety recognition programs and initiatives

  • Empowers project staff by preparing comprehensive written reports of project inspections and assisting in correcting and preventing hazards, fostering a culture of safety responsibility.

  • Provide routine updates to the Transportation Project SH&E Manager and Regional Safety Director on project safety performance

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA + 6 years of relevant safety, heath and/or environment experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Ability to travel to other facilities to perform inventory duties using a AECOM provided Vehicle.

  • For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM's background check process to ensure compliance with the Company's driving standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading safety in a large, diverse team covering a large geography.

  • Advanced certifications in safety and/or transportation (ASP, CSP, STS, CHST, SCTPP) a plus.

  • 10 Hour OSHA Certification preferred.

  • 6 or more years of experience in any of the following:

  • State or federal transportation agencies,

  • Highway construction/work zone management,

  • Light Truck Fleet Management (utility service vehicles or similar),

  • Emergency management,

  • Public safety or law enforcement

  • Applying technological solutions to work zone safety

  • Serves on boards or committees related to work zone or transportation safety

The successful candidate will utilize their design and development skills to deliver products that are high quality, on time and within budget. AECOM is seeking an experienced CEI SENIOR INSPECTOR to support multiple projects located within the Tallahassee, FL location.

  • Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing)

  • Performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests

  • Coordinating and managing the lower level inspectors

  • Performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Sets own project deadlines

  • Provides on the job training to new employees

  • Monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Our team works with local and national clients to provide solutions to their transportation needs across all modes of travel. Typical projects and daily tasks are focused on traffic engineering related services such as traffic projections, traffic impact studies, traffic analysis and simulation, traffic safety analysis/studies, conceptual planning and design, and other transportation related studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the execution of traffic engineering tasks.

  • Performs all aspects of traffic engineering studies, including data collection, microsimulation model development and calibration (SimTraffic and VISSIM) or other deterministic models (Synchro, HCS, Vistro, Sidra), traffic forecasting, and analysis of alternatives.

  • Analyzes big-scale data using statistical computing software including R.

  • Documentation in technical memoranda and reports.

  • Presents technical findings to internal project teams and clients.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The Entry-Level Environmental Engineer will work with a diverse team of engineers, project managers and technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services in New England.

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a full-time Natural Resources Biologist III for immediate employment within our Southern California Natural Resources Group. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects and career opportunities in a dynamic and flexible working environment. This hybrid position is primarily office-based, though some field work may be required and can be based in any of our Southern California offices including San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange or Long Beach.

This position would support numerous natural resource projects in the southern and central California region with a focus on leading preparation of Biological Assessments, Habitat Conservation Plans, technical reports, and other regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, and ESA resource agency consultation.

Primary duties include authoring on complex technical documents for large-scale projects, developing permitting strategies for clients, synthesizing compiled datasets, collaborating with a large team of technical experts, and task management. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background and advanced writing skills and is interested in moving towards a Project Management trajectory. Familiarity with Sections 7 and 10 of the federal Endangered Species Act, 2081 permitting under the California Endangered Species Act, NEPA, CEQA, and the Clean Water Act are required. A 10(A)(1)(a) permit for listed species local to southern California is preferred (but not required), including species such as coastal California gnatcatcher, desert tortoise, and/or southwestern willow flycatcher amongst others. Additional duties may include financial management tasks and team coordination/leadership. Position will support multiple project managers on a variety of types of projects including utility, military, transportation, and renewable energy sectors.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Conduct writing assignments, including completing Biological Technical Reports, Mitigation and Monitoring Plans, Natural Environment Studies, Biological Assessments, and/or EIR/EIS sections.

  • Operate as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects.

  • Possess knowledge of major state and federal agencies (e.g., USACE, USFWS, BLM, CDFW, RWQCB, and CCC) and major regulatory frameworks (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, ESA, CESA, CFGC, CWA and CCA as well as knowledge of regional conservation planning (i.e., MSCP, MHCP, MSHCP) and apply to assigned tasks.

  • Support proposal efforts.

  • Work under supervision of senior project managers or senior-level team members.

  • Ability to independently manage projects or tasks and/or oversee project teams.

  • Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver.

  • Perform assignments that require background in wildlife ecology and/or botany and ecological processes.

  • Conduct biological survey fieldwork as part of a team and alone in coastal, inland, and desert environments.

  • Identify and record native and non-native fauna and/or flora in the field.

  • Utilize electronic data collection methods and manage data, as needed.

Job Description

Title: Principal Architect, Science + Technology

Location: California

AECOM seeks a Science + Technology Regional Lead for our Buildings + Places leadership team to drive the growth of professional services related to our science and technology market.

This leader will bring subject matter expertise in planning, design and delivery of innovative laboratory facilities, as well as a focus on business development and growth.

In this role, you will nurture a multi-disciplinary team of Architects, Engineers, Advisors Strategists and Consultants across the region and multiple offices, within a national and global community of experts committed to delivering efficient, equitable and inspiring science and technology projects. Our expectation is that this hire will be an effective 'seller-doer' responsible for executing professional project work, winning new work, cultivating client relationships, and growing AECOM's portfolio of world-class science and technology work. This position is supported by our regional and national operational and technical teams, reporting to the U.S. West Regional Director of Growth, and collaborating with the Science + Tech Market leaders throughout the company.

Core Responsibilities:

Design Leadership:

  • Choreograph a multidisciplinary practice of design, technical, management, business development, and marketing/communications professionals.

  • Lead and inspire junior and mid-level architectural and engineering staff within the company, as well as partner/sub-consulting design firms.

  • Offer design creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving routine and unusual problems, articulating objectives and requirements, organizing programs and project approaches, and developing standards and guidelines.

  • Exemplify passion for design excellence, authenticity, and trustworthiness.

Business Development:

  • Lead pursuits and develop winning strategies for new projects.

  • Initiate and maintain contacts with key clients, organizations, and peer/partner companies.

  • Provide thought leadership on key programs and national initiatives.

Practice Building:

  • Nurture a collaborative team environment, fostering innovation and excellence across all project phases.

  • Mentor and develop the next generation of design and technical professionals within the team.

  • Exhibit skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues, guiding projects to successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Architecture plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years in a leadership/mentorship role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in a leadership role with an Architecture, Engineering or consulting firm focused on Science + Technology projects.

  • At least 5 years of recent experience as a proven rainmaker in the Design and Building industries, demonstrating exceptional work-winning capabilities and driving business growth as a key player in business development efforts.

  • Strong relationships with regional S+T clients

  • Professional License as Architect (RA, AIA) or Planner (AICP).

  • LEED and/or Well accreditation

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a visible presence in local market as a recognized subject matter expert through speaking engagements, papers/publications, etc.

  • Strong vision, voice, and work samples that demonstrate design excellence

  • Proficiency in software: Revit, Autocad, MS Excel, and Word and PowerPoint

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $180,000.00 - $250,000.00.
