We train our Field Service Engineers to create and support the technology that the world relies on to manufacture semiconductor chips and related materials, every day. Youll work beside global customers to install, maintain and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, delivering world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.
You will:
Assist senior engineers with installing leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment
Follow procedures you learn during your training, as well as published task plans, to test equipment and to diagnose and resolve technical problems
Complete required job documentation, safety training and procedures for processing parts
Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, using your customer first mindset
Satisfy the companys and customers on-site requirements, including safety, environmental and COVID-19 guidelines

Success in this role requires the ability to effectively partner and directly (or indirectly) lead within a matrix, multi-site, global, cross functional team consisting of representatives from operations, engineering, manufacturing, legal, finance, and other internal organizations, and all levels and functions within the commodity supply base.
Key requirements to ensure success in the role include specific commodity knowledge of international and domestic transportation (heavyweight air, ocean, parcel ground/air, and truckload), warehousing, crating and packaging, and other related logistics activities deemed necessary to support a World Class Global Supply Chain. This role requires research, analysis and understanding of the supply market drivers for each of the above commodities. In addition, it requires the ability to assess and anticipate sources of supply/capacity risk before they become reality, and to prepare recommendations to mitigate such risks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
Minimum 5-8 years of progressive experience in evaluating and managing new and existing suppliers with a high degree of supply chain industry experience, either through operational responsibility, consulting or sourcing.
Experience delivering results within a global organization and has a comprehensive understanding of the domestic and international supply chain for transportation, warehousing, and crating/packaging operations.
Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred
Knowledge
General knowledge of supply chain management, commodity management, procurement, materials management, contracting, manufacturing processes, business/finance, knowledge of commodity and an understanding of commodity strategies.
Specific commodity knowledge of international and domestic Transportation (heavyweight air, ocean, parcel ground/air, and truckload), Warehousing, Crating & Packaging, and other related Logistics activities deemed necessary to support a World Class Global Supply Chain
Skills
Requires strong commercial negotiation, project management and leadership skills as well as demonstrated expertise in problem solving, change management and time management.

Drive Service Product Roadmap releases through program management process (training, documentation, spares readiness, part repair, etc).
Drive/ influence tool design and service tooling to create and capture value.
Create and lead Design for Installation and Design for Service programs.
Drive CIP (Continuous Improvement Programs) and product roadmaps to ensure high value delivery for service.
Support IP Strategy and Design for Protection & Residual Value assessments.
Responsible for creation/maintenance of Cost-of-Service Model during product life cycle.
Develop new service product to meet technology inflection requirements
Drive automation technology development to create differentiation of service products.
Lead initiatives to enhance equipment installability and serviceability as product differentiators.
Drive digital tool (Sensor and Data) development for service solutions to create Preventative & Corrective Maintenance value.
Drive repair/refurbishment solution development.
Capture Best Known Method (BKMs) to drive value services.
Incorporate strategic initiatives and products into Service Product portfolio.
Responsible for customer engagement
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support strategic field requirements.
Drive key initiatives and meet customer requirements to enable Wafer Fab Equipment and Services
Facilitate intercompany communication to align on product service strategies.
Skills & Qualifications:
Requires experience in semiconductor equipment and services.

As a Field Service Engineer, youll work in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites around the globe, where you are the face of Applied Materials and an integral part of a vibrant and diverse team.
Our senior-level Field Service Engineers work independently, and help train junior colleagues, to create and support the technology that the world relies on to manufacture semiconductor chips and related materials. Youll work beside global customers to install, maintain and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, delivering world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.
You will:
Assist with installing leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment
Follow procedures you learn during your training, as well as published task plans, to test equipment and to diagnose and resolve technical problems
Complete required job documentation, safety training and procedures for processing parts
Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, using your customer first mindset
Satisfy the companys and customers on-site requirements, including safety, environmental and COVID-19 guidelines
Train junior engineers on site-related safety, troubleshooting procedures, and developing a customer-first mindset
Youll need:
An associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies, or equivalent work experience, or completion of military technical training and field experience
Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
Clear and effective written/verbal communications skills, with an emphasis on documenting details
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Advanced mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and/or thermodynamics
Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter
